I received a notice yesterday saying I may be entitled to a payment from a class action settlement.

@morganjen, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) lists several priority groups related to the Takata recall. Priority Group 2 - your group - is the second highest at risk for rupture or injury. The repair deadline for Priority Group 2 was December 31, 2017.

Talked to my dealership and he said the franchises are stuck in the middle of all of this. They can't get the parts in (company bankrupt?) and they can't issue loaners because of no end date for this. I also asked about disconnecting my passenger airbag and they said it was possible in older model cars, but not now. I'm just going to have to drive very carefully...

I drive a 2009 Honda Civic and got the notice last year that the passenger side airbag was defective - I foolishly took a chance putting it off and finally got it replaced last month (after several more notices). Everyone was telling me I could have it done without an appointment, but that wasn't the case. Made the appointment for 2 weeks in advance and got it done with no problem. I do feel relieved now.

You're lucky you have a Honda. They are one of the few car manufacturers who are taking this seriously and actually replacing parts. Ford, not so much...
