After reading another thread about the beginnings of Bandstand, I am remembering all of the iconic dances introduced on the show.  Of course, the twist comes to mind.  Some of the others I recall are the Bristol Stop, the Hop, the Stroll, the Pony, the Mashed Potato, the Strand, and the Fly.

What do you remember????

@grandma r  I remember all of those!

Chubby Checker...The Twist was introduced on there, I believe.  He was a one hit wonder.

Re: Dances Introduced on Bandstand

I was a Philly girl and loved Bandstand.  I cut school one day and was able to get in and dance on air.  Of course when my mom found out I was busted for a week.  It was so worth it.  Paul Anka was my fav singer/songwriter.

@Mmsfoxxie. He had more than one hit.  The Twist was the biggest, but, he also recorded several more including the Pony.  He also recorded several hits with Dee Dee Sharpe.

In fact, he was still doing live performances as of last year.

@grandma r, it's the Bristol Stomp. :-) I remember it well because one of schoolmates took the "stomp" to heart. Way beyond a dance step.

Here it is...it will take you right back to your youth.

Re: Dances Introduced on Bandstand

@grandma r, Oh, ok, good for him.  I do remember Let's Twist Again now that I think about it but nothing more.  I'm gonna google to see if he's still alive.

I remember the name Dee Dee Sharp but no song.
