Dallas Finale Question

I didn't see every episode of the new series, but I know I saw one that had a scene or two with Christopher and Cliff Barnes (his adoptive uncle) so we know they weren't estranged.

Given that, how could no one in the Ewing clan have known that Cliff had a daughter (revealed to be Rebecca, which means that Christopher's married to his adoptive cousin)?

I can't keep track of the cousins on this show. Maybe they're "dropping" some of the history, too. That might make it easier for new viewers, but those of us who remember the family tree in the old series are getting confused!
