Hello my friends. What a beautiful day God gave us today - when I did sit out in the patio, it was never a dull moment with all the beautiful Oriels flying around and in the feeders. After Linus got home from work after 5 we sat out there and saw a new bird - small blue one, looked it up and it's a indigo one, I guess blue birds are bigger. Anyway it was nice seeing another color at the feeders. Tomorrow the cleaning lady is coming - for 3 hours what the gift certificate is for - feeling just a bit funny about it, just feels strange having someone else clean my mess. Well, I cleaned it pretty good anyway, let's see how much better she does!!
Everything we need to deal with life's problems lies within us. Our trials
are tests to see if we can discover the solution. Lord, I call out Your name
when I face my difficulties and together we will overcome them.
Scripture for the day:
"What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is
spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, 'You must be born from
above.' The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but
you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with
everyone who is born of the Spirit." ~John 3:6-8
Meditation for the day:
Once I am "born of the spirit," that is my life's breath. Within me is the
life of life, so that I can never perish. The life that down the ages has
kept God's children through peril, adversity and sorrow. I can try never to
doubt or worry, but follow where the life of the spirit leads. How often,
when little I know it, God goes before me to prepare the way, to soften a
heart, or to overrule a resentment. As the life of the spirit grows, natural
wants become less important.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that my life may become centered in God more than in self. I pray
that my will may be directed toward doing God's will.
Ever wonder about the abbreviation A.S.A.P.? Generally we think of it in
terms of even more hurry and stress in our lives. Maybe if we think of this
abbreviation in a different manner, we will begin to find a new way to deal
with those rough days along the way.
*************
There's work to do, deadlines to meet;
You've got no time to spare,
But as you hurry and scurry-
ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER
In the midst of family chaos,
'Quality time' is rare.
Do your best; let God do the rest-
ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER.
Heavenly Father,
This is a prayer for those of us who feel lost, unsure and spiritually dead.
Please dear Lord, help us in knowing that only through complete surrender to
you, can we know the true purpose of our lives. Father, allow us to
surrender our hearts to you and fill our emptiness with your love.
Guide us through life's uncertainties dear Lord, and allow us to trust
totally in you. I pray that through our surrender, those of us who feel
unsure about the future, about our direction in life, and about such things
as our future career, marriage partner and family, are comforted to know
that they are all taken care of before we even know it, by you.
All knowing Lord, comfort our hearts by reigniting the fire of Love. Let us
walk in the light and no longer in darkness. Rid our hearts of uncertainty,
and replace it with certainty in you. Open our eyes, and let us see that the
only steadfast thing in this world is you, and that we must trust
wholeheartedly in you great Lord.
I pray that each one of us no longer worries another day about our future,
and about lifes ups and downs as we can trust that all things happen for a
greater and higher purpose.
Father, open mankind's eyes and hearts to you. May all receive your calling
with open arms, and find peace and love in your presence.
Heavenly Father, help us to find internal peace, and through this, extend
your love through us, to others.
I pray in Jesus Name,
Amen.
Everyday I need you Lord...
Every day I need you Lord
But this day especially,
I need some extra strength
To face what ever is to be.
This day more than any day
I need to feel you near,
To fortify my courage
And to overcome my fear.
By myself, I cannot meet
The challenge of the hour,
There are times when humans help,
But we need a higher power
To assist us bear what must be borne,
and so dear Lord, I pray -
Hold on to my trembling hand
And be near me today.

Why go to Church?
If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're
spiritually dead, you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious,
there is still hope!
Why Go To Church?
A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and
complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone
for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like
3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of
them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by
giving sermons at all."
This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column,
much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote
this clincher:
"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked
some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu
for a single one of those meals. But I do know this.. They all nourished me
and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me
these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone
to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are
DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible,
believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our
physical AND our spiritual nourishment!
Prepare your heart
To be strong
So soon it will unite
With to whom it belongs.
My commands are as such
Be forgiven and forgive others
Love your enemies
As sisters and brothers.
Trust in me
And I will open doors
Give in my name
And I will give you more.
Your life is not a game
I didn't create you that way
Just keep your spirit in tune with me
So that you may hear what I have to say.
You have control of who
Is the authority in your life
So keep this in mind
When your life is facing strife.
Mother Teresa Said...
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us
begin.
Meditations by Padre Pio
Do that penance of remembering, with sorrow, your offenses committed against
God; the penance of being constantly good, the penance of fighting against
your defects.

i have 'seen' you around the board, i think you are in nj , as i am...
are you familiar with the
''john theurer cancer center at hackensack medical center ''?
i had to do some research myself recently for this, and while i have no personal experience with them yet, their offerings do seem impressive. they are considered a top cancer center and seem to have treatments and equipment there that are not readily available in the region. they have 14 separate cancer specialty divisions, and perhaps they have something else to offer in your dh's case.
[ copy/paste this link>] http://www.jtcancercenter.org/services/
sometimes a 'second opinion' can be done mainly by submitting all test/exam results, with a possible visit. i don't know how they would handle it, but it may not be too big an undertaking to pursue that. also sometimes a patient's local dr works with a center elsewhere to provide a treatment protocol otherwise unavailable locally.
i have seen all that done, i can't say for sure what they might do. and i understand at this point that ''just one more thing'' can feel like just too much! but if you are considering pursuing more options, i wanted to mention this place. my best to your family.
hello gloria
i haven't posted on your thread in a long time, i can rarely post anymore- but i do continue to read everyday. i have been following darla's job saga- it does seem like all the aggravation led to some benefits anyway- eventually she will find her way home, esp with her dh's family up there too, seems it just has to happen. maybe this will afford her the ability to fly home a bit more often for a visit. perhaps now she can stay where she is, and only pursue a job closer to you.
i know how much concern i have for my dd, her work is so stressful, and i need to keep reminding her to take care of her health more, cause no job is forever, but this is the only earthly body you have. hoping darla can get better relief for her health issues, my dd used to love acupuncture, i have to give her a push back to that- you know the less time one has to care for oneself, the more one needs it! i feel bad for the young people wearing themselves out.
you have so many orioles and few cardinals- we have the opposite. after doing extensive tree and shrub plantings on this barren property, and having year round bird feeders, many cardinal pairs have settled here over the past 10 years, we do love them so. but i saw my first oriole ever just last week, feeding on an ornamental plum tree next to my window ! i thought, that robin is awfully bright orange- but finally realized it was really an oriole and he came back every day til the nectar blossoms were gone. he shared them with hummingbirds, which we get to see all summer. so many folks miss out on the blessing of watching the birds go about their little lives everyday, and we so enjoy helping them out with food, water and safe shelter all year round. maybe your 'new' bird was an indigo bunting? we have lots of eastern blue birds here, but no buntings.
waving hello to go2girl [ i posted to you on skypie]
and all the other posters [and the readers like me].

I have the grandsons today, summer has officially started, no more school for a while. The oldest will go into 7th grade next year and the youngest into the 3rd. Time is passing too fast.
I've yet to get out and plant those flowers and spearmint. I opened the door about 10am and the humidity hit me so I closed the door fast and thought...I'll check again early in the am. 85 degrees and high humidity are not favorable conditions to me. lol
Praying for you all. Peace and blessings.

Question: Is it against God's law to play the lottery? Just wondering....

Good Afternoon Ladies: Just wanted to drop by for a brief visit. We just got back from the physician's a while ago. As it stands now, she has some questions about all the previous testing that was done. She is going to do some of her own testing so alleviate her concerns and questions. Only then can she prescribe the right medication/drug therapy. The testing should take about two weeks. She is a specialist in her field, which is what DH needs now and that is why she was recommended. She was very thorough and offered some treatments that we hadn't discussed before.
Shosh.......I could not believe that someone would take the time, as you did, to offer some sound and good advice. Yes, I am in NJ (Union County). We are doctoring with a specialist at Rutgers/University Hosp., who comes highly recommended. We were directed to them immediately by our primary care physician. We did think about a second opinion, which is always possible. I did not realize that Sloane Kettering has a facility in Basking Ridge. They were my first thought about a second opinion. I have heard wonderful things about Hackensack Hospital, and they always seem to be the recipient of some award. Thank you for posting that useful information, and I may consider going there (it's really not that far) should we decide on a second opinion. Brief story......My dermatologist, who is also an internist, had said that people don't realize what good and successful cancer centers we have here in Jersey. Again thank you for thinking of me. Everyday here I am happily surprised to find more and more caring ladies.
Thank you to all the ladies who continue to keep me and DH and their prayers and thoughts. You all are special! God Bless!

shosh - how nice to see you again!!! Do come oftener if you can! As far as Darla is concerrned, you're so right - she got a raise through all that jerking around from that other school, higher than what they were offering her. Praise the Lord for that! Darla and Greg do come home by car every Christmas - no matter the weather, we pray hard for their safe travels, and this summer they are flying in twice - the last time will be for our 50th Wedding Anniversary here at our house. She gives us half the plane ticket for us coming there for Easter. We've driving all that way twice or 3 times, it's so long! 1600 hours one way. But you're right, eventually she'll find her way home - to a better school! We used to have one red cardinal every year and his wife, but this year none so far!! Praying they come back - I love cardinals. Thanks for your post to shorelady! I'm sure she'll be interested.
Bobbiesue - hope you are feeling better - and that God is answering your prayers for your COPD. Praying for you, my friend!
Lucy - enjoy those grandkids!! They must make you feel young! You have it hot there now, it sure got cool here today and windy!!! Linus bought tomato plants (10) and planted them and some flowers. Just going to plant some acorn squash yet and we're done!
go2girl - I'm so happy you find us here at worthy prayer partners, and we hope to be that for you! Dear, everything time I wonder if this thread is worth doing, I get a nice post like yours!! Thank you so much!! God is good!
shorelady - I'm so glad you have that specialist who is so throrough and that, I think, is God's way for His healing. Sure hope so. We pray and let God do His work! Prayers continue - you can count on it!
