Keep yourself young in spirit always by thinking new thoughts
and getting rid of old habits. Lord, may my spirit never become
frail and my abilities never become barren.
Scripture for the day:
"It is God's will that by doing right you should silence the ignorance
of the foolish. As servants of God, live as free people, yet do not
use your freedom as a pretext for evil. Honor everyone." ~1 Peter
2:15-17
Meditation for the day:
Each new days brings an opportunity to do some little thing that will
help to make a better world, that will bring God's kingdom a little
nearer to being realized on earth. We can take each day's happenings
as opportunities for something we can do for God. In that spirit, a
blessing will attend all that we do. When we offer this day's service
to God, we are sharing in God's work. We do not have to do great
things.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that today I may do the next thing, the unselfish thing, the
loving thing. I pray that I may be content with doing small things as
long as they are right.
Greetings to all my friends here!! Hope your day went well - we got up to 80 degrees today - sure felt nice for a change!! Today I kept myself busy with more cleaning out drawers, and throwing away things I don't need and don't need all that clutter. I've finished with the pictures. I don't know what to do about Darla's beautiful Wedding pictures, or her nice booklet of her wedding she gave us. What to do. When there's a divorce, do you throw all away? She sure was a very pretty bride! One more day to get everything ready for the realtor, Jesse, so he can take pictures of the house. Today I admit that I was near tears, but I overcame it, and trying to think positive in this situation. God closes a door but opens another. I hear that a lot and that is true. If we do rent and cannot have Sammy, Lori has said she'll take him and keep him in the family. Next week we'll look at that house next door to her.
Friday morning we will look at an apt. Can't hurt to look around. What I'd like is a 3 bedroom so one small room can be the computer room like this is here. Thank you for your prayers for us - much appreciated and I'm also praying daily for you all too. I just heard from Dmod (Donna) that she spoke with Fran last week -
She sounded ok, not her usual bubbly self. She is on a pain management program.
She is not on the computer much.
Homily of the Day

Don´t Be Afraid of the Truth!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Acts 7:51-8, 1 / Jn 6:30-35
What an extraordinary circumstance we find in today’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, a whole crowd of people so disturbed by what St. Stephen was saying that they ground their teeth, put their hands over their ears, tried to drown him out with their shouting, and finally killed him. How afraid they must have been to hear what he had to say. The truth he spoke could have set them free, but they closed their hearts to it, and in doing so they closed their hearts to the Lord who only wanted to give them life.
It happens all the time, people ducking and dodging to avoid the truth, as if it were an enemy. To be sure, the truth can sometimes wound us very deeply. But if we receive it and accept it, it can free us both from foolish illusions and from sinful paths. “The pain will be more than we can bear,” we silently object. But we are wrong, for God never gives us more than we can manage. With every challenge comes the grace to face the challenge and to prevail.
Trust in the power of God’s grace, embrace the truth, and be free!
Short Meditation
Language of Love
Love does not divide, nor does it lay heavy burdens upon, nor does it label.
Christ spoke to Francis in a language that Francis could reveal
and communicate to others readily, easily, so easily that thousands heard it—
because it was the light “burden” of love and not the heavy burden of judgment and division.
from Francis and the San Damiano Cross: Meditations on Spiritual Transformation
A Prayer to Our Blessed Lady
for those who are growing old
Take my hand, O Blessed Mother,
Hold me firmly lest I fall,
I am nervous when I am walking
and to thee I humbly call.
Guide me over every crossing
watch me when I´m on the stairs
Let me know you are beside me,
Listening to my fervent prayers.
Bring me to my destination,
walk beside me every day,
Help me with each undertaking,
As my hours they pass away.
And when the evening falls upon me,
And I fear to be alone,
Take my hand O Blessed Mother
Please stay with me in my home.
The Lesson of the Bicycle Wheel
The abbot of a large monastery was asked by some visitors how so many monks of such different origins and different talents and personalities could live and work so harmoniously under one roof.
He thought it over for a moment and then explained, "We are like a bicycle wheel. It has a rim, spokes and a hub in the middle. The rim is like the monastic wall around us. But that only keeps us together externally. Now from the rim a whole series of spokes run toward the middle of the wheel where the hub is. The hub holds the spokes together. We members of the community are those spokes. The hub is Jesus Christ. The rim of the wheel is just our monastery."
When the visitor nodded his approval, the abbot went on, "You will notice on a bicycle wheel that the nearer the spokes get to the hub, the nearer they come to one another. It is just like that in a community which has Christ as its center and hub."
It is the same way in life: the more we make Christ the center of our lives, the nearer we grow to one another.
He Gives
He gives us the sun so warm and bright
He gives us the moon and stars to shine at night
He gives us rain that falls from the sky
He gives us all, I wonder why?
He gives us the grass so green with colorful flowers
It’s all here and it’s all ours
He provides us with food to eat and water to drink
He asks nothing in return and it makes me think
He gives us all these wonders from above
But best of all he gives us his unconditional love
He gives to us even when we are ungrateful
He gives to those whose hearts are hard and hateful
He gives to man a creature made from dust
He gives to all the just and the unjust.
Friendship
However strange or unique--
friends are given to us as gifts from God--
When a friend rejects a friend, they also reject the gift.
When we Thank God for a good friend--we ask him to guide us in that friendship.
Sometimes God sees fit to take some friends away for our own good and so they reject us ...losing a friend can be just as a scar from a sword or a burn--especially one dear to heart.
In my lifetime I have had many a friends but also many parted.
When a friend dies and passes on to Heaven we know that we will meet again.
A friend disposed of -- by meanness or hurt is never retrieved.
Those whom God has given the gift of friendship must thank him for that--whether short or long friends.
Many a friend I have thanked God for that I will never see again if they reject God and God's laws later in the future... there is absolutely nothing I can do about that but pray for them to return to God.
Every Time I Say Mary
I offer to Almighty God through the Immaculate Heart and hands of our Blessed Mother all the merits of reparation and propitiation contained in all the Masses being said all over the world for:
1. World-wide reparation to Mary's Immaculate Heart that she asked for at Fatima
2. For the conversion of sinners throughout the world
3. For the conversion of Russia, America and World Peace
I will repeat as often as possible MARY, MARY, MARY....
A coincidence is God's wishing to remain anonymous.
Good night and God bless each of you with sweet dreams and a wonderful Wednesday all day!! All the ordinary things you do all day are His blessings to you - we are blessed to be alive and we are blessed to have so many friends!! Thank you, Lord Jesus!!
