Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Jesus is the greatest giver of happiness that anyone has ever known.
Take Him into your heart. Lord, Your presence in my life brings me
great joy.

"If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you
wish, and it will be done for you." ~John 15:7

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

"Ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." God has
unlimited power. There is no limit to what God's power can do in
human hearts. We can will to have God's power and we can ask God for
it. God's power can be blocked by our indifference to it. We can go
along our own selfish way without calling on God's help, and we
receive no power. But when we trust in God, we can will to have the
power we need. When we sincerely ask God for it, we can receive it
abundantly.

I pray that I may will to have God's power. I pray that I may keep
praying for the strength I need.

Greetings to all of you! Hope you all are having a good day and evening! It was a good day for us. Linus is off now for vacation!! He made chicken on the grill, we also had couscous and green beans. He lost 16 pounds since on the low glycemic diet and he does need some new pants, they are loose and that's a good thing. I only lost about 5 but I'm not concerned because I don't have that much to lose, but I'll lose what my body wants me to, I won't stop with this diet and slow is best. Men! They lose so much faster!
Got a nice Sister card from my sister, Deil today!! Got some nice e-cards too!! All blessings!! We invited our neighbors over for supper tomorrow night - for a simple meal, and a birthday cake - we want to tell them ourselves about putting our house up for sale - not that they have to just see the sign. Plan to make it a good night of cards or Farkel and wine.

He Thought You Were Worth Dying for!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Is 49:1-6 / Jn 13:21-33, 36-38

As the Last Supper moved inexorably to its end, Jesus told his apostles, “One of you is going to betray me.” How much more accurate it would have been to say, “All of you are going to betray me”! Judas, of course, sold out his master for 30 pieces of silver and identified him for the soldiers by kissing him! But the rest of them were just as bad, fleeing and leaving Jesus all alone in those most terrible hours of his whole life. And Peter, amidst many curses three times denying that he even knew Jesus!

What a sorry lot, betraying their best friend and teacher! Many of us would say that they weren’t worth dying for, but that’s not what Jesus thought. From the beginning he’d known them from the inside out, and he had no illusions in their regard. But he also saw in them more than they yet saw in themselves. He saw their capacity for growing into greatness. And as the ultimate faithful friend, he was determined to stick with them and see that greatness come to be.

The Lord never gives up on any one of us. Never! All he asks in return is that we not give up, on ourselves, or on one another. He has the power to make you grow large and grow whole, and he wants to give that power to you. Trust him, open your heart, and take it!

0 if only you knew the gift of God!

Based on Msgr Robert Hugh Benson

LORD, you loved me from all eternity; therefore you created me.

Behold you are precious in my eyes and glorious: because I love you (Isaiah 43:4)

You loved me after you created me; therefore you became man for me.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16).

You loved me after you became man for me; therefore you lived and died for me.

Christ loved me and gave himself for me! (Galatians 2:20).

You loved me after you died for me; therefore you rose for me

I arose and I am still with you—even to the end of the world (Ps 138 and Mt 28:20).

You loved me after you rose for me; therefore you went to prepare a place for me.

/ am going to prepare a place for you that where I am you also may be (Jn 14:3).

You loved me after you had gone to prepare a place for me; therefore you came back to me.

O Jesus, you love me and you want to live in me and be one with me—to become my very food and drink.

Take and eat; this is My body for you. Take and drink—this is My blood poured out for you (Lk 22:19).

This is the mystery on our Altar, the mystery of the Blessed Sacrament, the mystery of unspeakable love.

0 if only you knew the gift of God! (John 4:12).

How God will Judge you

Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'

"Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'

"The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'

(Matthew 25:34-40)

Holy Are Your Ways

Help me to understand, Lord,
that what counts is not the road traveled,
but simply putting my hand in yours
and journeying side by side with you, Lord Jesus --
O you who are the joy of my journey
and also the repose in the Father's home!
Holy, holy is the Lord, for eternal is His love.

SIX QUESTIONS
ABOUT OUR PRAYER LIVES

1. Is prayer changing me?
2. Is prayer making any difference in my life?
3. Is my prayer life bringing me closer to the Lord?
4. Am I moving toward giving control of my life to God?
5. Do I constantly try to tune into God's presence?
6. Are any my prayers helping me develop a more loving relationship with others?
If you answered no to any of these questions, then one more question comes to mind: WHY NOT?

Friendship's Road

Friendship is a chain of gold...
Shaped in God's all perfect mold...

Each link a smile, a laugh, a tear...
A grip of the hand, a word of cheer...

Steadfast as the ages roll...
Binding closer soul to soul...

No matter how far or heavy the load...
Sweet is the journey on friendship road.

A STORY TO MAKE US THINK
Author Unknown
April 19, 2011

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man
was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help
drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only
window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men
talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their
homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where
they had been on vacation. And every afternoon when the man in the bed
by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to
his room-mate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods
where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity
and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a
lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed
their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of
every color of the rainbow. Grand old trees graced the landscape, and
a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the
man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the
picturesque scene. One warm afternoon the man by the window described
a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band -
he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window
portrayed it with descriptive words.

Then unexpectedly, a sinister thought entered his mind. Why should the
other man alone experience all the pleasures of seeing everything
while he himself never got to see anything? It didn't seem fair.

At first thought the man felt ashamed. But as the days passed and he
missed seeing more sights, his envy eroded into resentment and soon
turned him sour. He began to brood and he found himself unable to
sleep. He should be by that window - that thought, and only that
thought, now controlled his life.

Late one night as he lay staring at the ceiling, the man by the window
began to cough. He was choking on the fluid in his lungs. The other
man watched in the dimly lit room as the struggling man by the window
groped for the button to call for help. Listening from across the room
he never moved, never pushed his own button which would have brought
the nurse running in. In less than five minutes the coughing and
choking stopped, along with that the sound of breathing. Now there was
only silence-deathly silence.

The following morning the day nurse arrived to bring water for their
baths. When she found the lifeless body of the man by the window, she
was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take it away. As
soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be
moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and
after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly,
painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look
at the world outside. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it all
himself. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the
bed. It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased
roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.
The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the
wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue. . . .

You can interpret the story in any way you like. But one moral stands
out: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our
own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when
shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all of the
things you have that money can't buy.

Closing prayer is one of my favorites I've memorized since I was a teen:
Prayer to Our Lady:

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we turn to you, O Virgins of virgins, our Mother. To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise our petitions, but in your mercy hear us and answer us. Amen.

Good night everyone - Sweet dreams and may you all be blessed tomorrow (Wednesday) even by ordinary things.
