In your search for peace, look within. If you are looking elsewhere,
you are looking in the wrong place. Lord, help me to open my heart
to Your gift of peace and refuse to let anything in that disturbs it.
Scripture for the day:
"Strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all
these things will be given to you as well." ~Matthew 6:33
Meditation for the day:
"Strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all
these things will be given to you as well." We need not seek material
things first, but seek spiritual things first and material things will
come to us, as we honestly work for them. Many of us seek material
things first and think they can then grow into knowledge of spiritual
things. We cannot serve God and earthly things at the same time. The
first requisites of an abundant life are spiritual things: honesty,
purity, unselfishness and love. Until we have these qualities,
quantities of material things are of little real use to us.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may put much effort into acquiring spiritual things. I
pray that I may get right spiritually and enjoy the many gifts around
me.
Hello my friends! Well we are headed for a blizzard! So glad we are
together and no one is on the roads now. Not sure if he'll be able to go to
work tomorrow - sure won't if there's bad roads. We joined a book club for
Lent - and it starts tomorrow at 10 AM - got an email from the leader saying
if there's a snow storm it's cancelled and we can pick up the books at the
Parish Office this morning -so we did after Mass. The name of the book - we
both share one book - is called "Longing for the Holy" Spirituality for
everyday life, by Fr. Ronald Rolheiser.
I don't know anything about the author, but I'm sure he's a good writer. We
will be sharing chapter by chapter at the meetings - it should be
interesting. Hoping you all are having a blesssed Lent! I plan on getting
more spiritual reading done this Lent and learn more and more.
Father of my soul,
Mother of my heart,
I know your love for me is limitless beyond imagining.
You care for me as a loving parent.
Through my smallest Lenten sacrifices,
help me to become less selfish
and more aware of your ways.
Fan the flame of my desire
to draw ever closer to you.
Guide me to seek your love.

Bending Our Will
Lent is a time when we can shatter the deceptions of Satan by holding fast
to the righteousness of Christ. Lent is a time for seeing that all of
creation is good for guiding us to a greater knowledge of God.

Wisdom
Early in his career the brilliant young lawyer Clarence Darrow was defending
a man in court. The much older lawyer defending the other client started to
make fun in court and referred to him as "that beardless youth."
Darrow answered him in this way:
"My worthy opponent seems to downgrade me for not having a beard. Let me
answer him with a story. The king of Spain once sent a young nobleman to the
court of a neighboring monarch. On seeing the young man, he sneered: Does
the king of Spain have no real men? Why does he send me a beardless boy? To
which the young ambassador replied: My Lord, if my king had supposed that
you judged intelligence by the size of a beard, he would have sent you a
goat."
Incidentally, Clarence Darrow won the case.
In the Old Testament the prophet Jeremiah was trying to avoid God's call to
go and teach people and the Lord said to him: "Do not say I am too young."
Jer. 1:7

Fold two hands together

Marinate it overnight
And work on it tomorrow.
Chop one grudge in tiny pieces
Add several cups of love
Dredge with a large sized smile
Mix with the ingredients above.
Dissolve the hate within you,
By doing a good deed
Cut in and help your friend
If he should be in need.
Stir in laughter, love an kindness
From the heart it has to come,
Toss with genuine forgiveness
And give your neighbor some.
The amount of people served
Will depend on you,
It can serve the whole wide world,
If you really want it to.

May you all enjoy better weather than we are having now. Have a good night
and day tomorrow - and God bless you!!
