Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends! Today's blessings was I finished the Christmas cards! Nice to have that done now. Got a nice Christmas card from the Poor Clare Nuns here in town, with a nice, long letter with pictures!! Very nice! It's a form letter, but still, very nice to read. Also a nice card with a Wedding picture from our friends, Ray and Ann - their complete family now, all three are married. It was a picture from their son's wedding last July. I really don't have much to say tonight so I'll get at the inspirations and thank you all for your posts! Without you, this thread is nothing.

Much time is spent fearing that which isn't really there in the first place.
Lord, help me conquer my fears and overcome my difficulties as they
happen rather than giving up and letting my difficulties overcome me.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes
refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the
destroying storms pass by." ~Psalm 57:1

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

"My soul is restless until it finds its rest in Thee." A river flows
on, until it loses itself in the sea. Our spirits long for rest in
the Spirit of God. We can yearn to realize a peace, a rest, a
satisfaction that we have never found in the world or its pursuits.
Some of us are not conscious of our need, and can shut the doors
of our spirits against the Spirit of God. That makes it difficult for
us to find true peace.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may feel the divine unrest. I pray that my soul may
find its rest in God.

FISHERMEN

Now it came to pass that a group existed who called themselves fishermen.
And lo, there were many fish in the streams and lakes throughout the
surrounding area.
Week after week, month after month, and year after year, those who
called themselves fishermen met in meetings and talked about …

The call to fish.
The abundance of fish.
How they might go about fishing as an occupation.
They declared that fishing is always to be the primary task of
fishermen, but they never fished!

These fishermen built large, beautiful buildings for local fishing
headquarters. The plea was that everyone should be a fisherman and every
fisherman should fish. One thing they didn't do, however, was fish.

In addition to meeting regularly, they organized a board to send out
fishermen to other places where there were many fish. The board was formed
by those who had great vision and courage to speak about fishing, to define
fishing, to promote the idea of fishing in far-away streams and lakes where
many other fish of different color lived. Also the board hired staffs and
appointed committees and held many meetings to …

Define fishing.
Defend fishing
Decide what new streams should be thought about.
But the staff and committee members did not fish.

A speaker bureau was provided to schedule special speakers on the
subject of fishing. After one stirring meeting on "The Necessity of
Fishing," one young fellow left the meeting and went fishing. The next day
he reported that he had caught two outstanding fish. He was honored for his
excellent catch, and he was scheduled to visit all the big meetings to tell
how he did it. So he quit his fishing in order to have time to tell about
the experience to the other fishermen. He was also placed on the Fisherman's
General Board as a person having considerable experience.

Now it's true that many of the fishermen sacrificed and put up with all
kinds of difficulties. Some lived near the water and bore the smell of dead
fish. They received ridicule of some who made fun of their fishermen's clubs
and the fact that they claimed to be fishermen, yet never fished.

They wondered about those who felt it was of little use to attend the
talks about fishing. After all, were they not following the Master, who
said, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fisher of men"? (Mark 1:17)

Imagine how hurt some were when one day a person suggested that those
who didn't fish were not really fishermen, no matter how much they claimed
to be. Yet it did sound correct.

Is a person a fisherman if, year after year, he never catches a fish?
Is one following if he isn't fishing?

A woman once fretted over the usefulness of her life. She feared she was
wasting her potential being a devoted wife and mother.

She wondered if the time and energy she invested in her husband, and
children would make a difference.

At times she got discouraged because so much of what she did seemed to go
unnoticed and unappreciated.

"Is it worth it?" she often wondered. Is there something better I could be
doing with my time? It was during these moments of questioning that she
heard the still small voice of the Father speak to her heart:

"You are a wife and mother because that is what I called you to be. Much of
what you do is hidden from the public eye. But I notice.

Much of what you do is without remuneration. But I am your reward. Your
husband cannot be the man I have called him to be without your support. Your
influence upon him is greater than you will ever know. I bless him through
your service and honor him through your love,

Your children are precious to me. Even more precious than they are to you. I
have entrusted them into your care to raise for me.

What you invest in them is an offering to me true, You may never be in the
public spotlight. But your obedience shines as a bright light before me.
Continue on. Remember, you are my servant.

Through Me

Through me let there be kind words, a warm smile,
and a caring heart.

Through me let there be a willingness to listen
and a readiness to understand.

Through me let there be dependability, steadfastness,
trust and loyalty.

Through me let there be compassion, forgiveness,
mercy and love.

Through me let there be every quality I find,
O Lord, in Thee.

A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

All powerful, most holy, most high, supreme God, holy and just Father, Lord,
King of heaven and earth,
We thank you for Yourself. By your holy will and through your only Son and
with the Holy Spirit you created every spiritual and corporal being; and,
after making us in your own image and likeness, you placed us in paradise.

Through our own fault we fell.

We thank you for redemption. Through your Son you created us, and through
your holy love with which you loved us, you caused him to be born as true
God and true man of the glorious, ever virgin, most blessed, holy Mary; and
you willed to redeem us from bondage through his cross, blood and death.

We thank you for the second coming.

Your Son will come again in the glory of his majesty: those who are wick ed,
who have not done penance and have not known you, He will send into the
eternal fire; to those who have known, adored and served you in penance, He
will say, "Come. You have my Father's blessing! Inherit the kingdom prepared
for you from the creation of the world."

All of us have sinned and are not worthy to pronounce your name.

We humbly ask that our Lord Jesus Christ, your beloved Son in whom you were
well pleased, together with the Holy Spirit, the Consoler, would give you
thanks for everything as it pleases you and him, who always satisfies you in
all things, and through whom you have done so much for us. Alleluia.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Good Morning!

It's odd not to have several posts in place before mine, but I had time now, so here I am. I did some cards last night, and will finish them this morning. We don't send too many, but they are nice to send and receive. The wind made it's presence known last night, and there's some new snow. It's hard to tell how much as it's still too dark outside. Not much planned for today so far.

Gloria: Glad you're having a more peaceful advent too. It's such a nice change! You'll have fun on your trip, and I'm glad your family can be together for Christmas.

Hope everyone has a good day! Stay warm if you're in our weather pattern! Hugs, pinky

Pinky Ann - did you get much snow? It's actually melting here and that's a good thing! Just wondering if you get Relevant Radio where you are because that station sure gives me peace all day!! Just love that station. You can maybe find where it is by you, by going to RevelantRadio.com Lots of spiritual talks, questions and answers etc. They pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at three PM, with people calling in for their intentions etc. very moving.

Harlene - I sure hope and pray you get all that pain to go away! Maybe before you do, you can offer it all up for peace? Or any of your intentions? Don't let that pain go to waste without offering it up to Our Lord! It sure is a good feeling to get the Christmas cards out, isn't it? My Mom always did on Mary's Feast day, the Immaculate Conception, Dec. 8th without fail, so I copied her this year!

Blue - thanks for the graphics - we have to keep Christ in Christmas! The reason for the season!

Juanita - oh so sorry you have such a hard time to sign in here. That's frustrating and I'm so glad you didn't give up!! My goodness are you busy working six days!!! Just don't overdue yourself - I know the money comes in handy especially before Christmas. Praying for SelahG.
