Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

If we look to God for guidance, we will not be weighed down by the
circumstances of our life. Lord, free me from the worries that come
to distract me and keep me focused on that which is important.

Scripture for the day:

"One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one
another, and seeing that he answered them well, he asked him, 'Which
commandment is the first of all?' Jesus answered, 'The first is,
'Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the
Lord your God with
all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and
with all your strength.' The second is this, 'You shall love your
neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than
these." ~Mark 12:28-31

Meditation for the day:

To truly desire to do God's will , therein lies happiness for us. We
can start out wanting our own way. We want our wills to be satisfied.
We can take and not give. Gradually, we can find that we are not
happy when we are selfish, so we begin to make allowances for other
peoples' wills. But this again dos not give us full happiness, and we
begin to see that the only way to be truly happy is to try to do God's
will. In these times of meditation, we can seek to get guidance so
that we can find God's will for us.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may subordinate my will to the will of God. I pray that
I may be guided today to find God's will for me.

Greetings my friends! How was your day! Beautiful weather here today all
day, and tomorrow it will be even warmer - and I will certainly enjoy it!
Today's blessings was that Linus got home from work - and wasn't that tired!
Yesterday he sure was!! Tomorrow yet, and then he's off a couple days.
That's a blessing to me when he's not too tired and can enjoy life. It was a
quiet day here today. It was nice reflecting sitting on my swing watching
birds. Then I saw two or three little baby squirrels eating bird seed on
the ground!! At first I wondered if it were rats, but then saw their big
furry tails!! Thank God for no rats!! My friend, Linda, is at the Mayo
Clinic yet - I hope she won't need surgery - but if she does, I hope it's
successful and she doesn't have bad news. This is my former neighbor I
spoke of earlier.

Mother Teresa Said...
The aim of taking a retreat is to advance in the knowledge and love of God,
to purify ourselves, and to reform and transform our lives according to the
life of our model, Jesus Christ. It is not so much a looking back on the
achievements and failures of the past, as a looking forward to a more
generous imitation of our Lord Himself.

I Need A Hug Lord

I need a hug Lord please hold me tight,
it would give me added assurance everything’s all right.

Now I know I’m standing on faith and I understand;
You are in control and hold me in your hand.

I know in my heart that I haven’t a spirit of fear
and that when I have a need you are always there.

My faith doesn’t depend on me getting this embrace;
the faith you’ve provided is strongly in place.

An embrace is something of which I’ve had far too few,
having no others wouldn’t matter if I had one from you.

I know that you love me I feel it deep in my heart,
I haven’t doubted once since our relationship had it’s start.

I know every single one of my needs has been met,
not even one time have you ever disappointed me yet.

But Father ever since the beginning when you created man,
an occasional embrace was part of your plan.

Now the people in my life don’t believe in embracing you see,
so just this one time won’t you please hug me?

I promise I won’t be a bother I won’t pester You any more,
just this once may I have a hug from the one I adore?

I need a hug Lord just hold me tight,
I know it’ll be enough to give me a lifetime of delight!

PRAYER WHEN YOU WANT TO WALK WITH GOD

Dear God, help me to walk with you all through today.
Give me today
something of the wisdom that was in your words.
something of the love that was in your heart.
something of the help that was in your hands.
Give me today
something of your patience with people,
something of your ability to bear slights and insults and bitterness
without resentment,
something of your ability to forgive.
Help me to live in such a way today that others may know that I began
the day with you, and that I am walking with you, however dimly, others
may see you in me. Amen.

Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study
and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature
of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver
and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch
him at work.
She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her
curiosity
about the process of refining silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and
let it heat up.
He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the
middle of the fire
where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot
then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and
purifier of silver."

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front
of the fire
the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes,
he not only had to sit there holding the silver,
but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the
fire.
If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be
destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith,
"How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"
He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy - when I see my image in
it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire,
remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you
until He sees His image in you.

Prayer to Saint Vincent de Paul
Dear Saint, the mere mention of your name suggests a litany of your virtues:
humility, zeal, mercy, self-sacrifice. It also recalls your many
foundations: Works of Mercy, Congregations, Societies. And the Church
gratefully remembers your promotion of the priesthood. Inspire all
Charitable Workers, especially those who minister to the poor - both the
spiritually and the materially poor. Amen.

Honesty

Good people will be guided by honesty. Proverbs 11:3

Have you ever been tempted to try a little sleight of hand, or some
deception
that will give you an edge over someone else, or a privilege you want? Even
if we pride ourselves on being clever, God calls it something else, He calls
it
being dishonest. For all who strive to follow Him, God sets clear directions
to guide thought, speech, conduct, and relationships. With help of the Holy
Spirit, commit yourself to honesty in all you say and do.

Light shines on those who do right; Joy belongs to those who are honest.
Psalms 97:11

When you're honest and forthright in all things, you never need worry about
covering your tracks or being exposed. You can live with lightness of spirit
unknown to those who must glance over their shoulders in fear of being
found out. Ask God to show you where you need to act in more upright and
blameless way. With the help of His Spirit working in you, resolve that your
relationships, and dealings will be marked by Godly honesty.

Another one written by my friend, Mel Patterson:

SWIFTLY AS THE WIND

O Lord, when my span of years has come to an end?
Will I be strong in fervor as I come round that bend?
Will I be faithful to all You've asked me to do?
Will I lay all my selfishness aside
And run swiftly as the wind to You?

Lord, You know the very recesses of my heart
It's only my own sinfulness that keeps us apart
O that I may be faithful to all You ask me to do
Please align me, Sweet Jesus, with Your Holy Will.
For satan it pleases my soul to kill.

The Blood You shed for love of all men
Your Sacrifice our very souls to transcend
Extraordinarily Issued from God, our Father
Triune Godhead, Lord God, and Holy Spirit
Jesus Christ, Your Holy Love, we endear it.

When our span of years comes to its' end?
Will we be strong in fervor as we round that bend?
We we be faithful in all You asked us to do?
Will we have lain all selfishness aside?
And run swiftly as the wind to You?

Trusting in Your mercy having Faith to believe
That we repentant sinners You will receive
We hope when our journeys are done
We may image Your Divine Son
Swiftly as the wind, with Him, run
And through the power of His grace
Enter Your Courts for Worship and Praise
In joyful chorus singing for endless days
Beholding the Beauty of Your Holy Face...

Swiftly as the wind we run!

Praying for all of your needs - each and every one of you - even you who
just read and don't post here, I'm praying for you, too!!
May God bless you all!! Good night - Sweet Dreams! Enjoy your Wednesday
and remember to give God your Thanks!
