Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

There is no hurt that God cannot heal. Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble and don´t know where to go.

Scripture for the Day

"Salt is good; but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another." — Mark 9:50

Meditation for the Day

I believe that in the spiritual world, as in the material world, there is no empty space. As fears and worries and resentments depart out of my life, the things of the spirit can come in to take their places. Calm comes after a storm. As soon as I am rid of fears and hates and selfishness, God's love and peace and calm can come in.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may rid myself of all fears and resentments, so that peace and serenity may take their place. I pray that I may sweep my life clean of evil, so that good may come in.

Peace of Jesus to you all!! Hope you all had some blessings today to share with us. I did! I got my folders back, I don't know how it happened, but all of a sudden there they were! Whether they will stay, I don't know, but I had another great blessing today too. Here I'm searching and searching to find my lost folders, and then I thought about googling the Daily Inspiration, Scripture, Meditation and Prayer for the day which I use to begin the thread. Lo and behold it brought me to a St. Clement's Catholic Church with everything I wanted! It has one for every day of the year!! Praise the Lord. Then I managed to get it on my desktop to make it handy to use. What a blessing!! This will never disappear! God works in mysterious ways and I do believe He wants me to continue using this for our beginning. I have a question for you - does anyone want to receive the Saint of the Day on email? I send it out every morning. Here it would take so much space. I had a question this morning about using Smart Balance for butter instead of butter, so I called Darla in TX and she was right there and we had a great visiting time! Another blessing. We are getting the hang of the Low Glycemic Index Diet - praise the Lord and are doing it as well as we know how to right now. Linus is reading the book on it for Dummies now - I haven't gotten into that one yet, I read the one for the basics to know what foods to use and what are bad. Next I'll get into the recipes - that should be fun. Here Darla is enjoying nice weather there, and Linus was out blowing snow. We got about 5 more inches overnight. Temps are above zero lately, and that's great!! Tomorrow Linus works six hours and then he's off again until Saturday and Sunday. The hours are cut a lot, you see. It gives him rest and projects to do, and healing.

Homily of the Day
January 31, 2011
Though Weak, He Made Them Powerful!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Heb 11:32-40 / Mk 5:1-20
The full catalogue of human weaknesses is almost too long to imagine. Physical weaknesses afflict us all sooner or later, whether those of infantile weakness or those of precarious old age. Mental weaknesses are part of our lives as well. At first we don’t know because we’re too young, and later we don’t know because we forgot. And of course there are the moral weaknesses, the lapses into passion, the lusts after wealth and power, the jealousies, the intrigues, the hates, the fears. What a species we are — weakness and folly stapled together in an eternal embrace!
But there’s more to us than that, and the One Who made us sees it, reaches out to what’s best in us, and makes it strong. St Paul knew that well from personal experience, and he reaffirms it boldly in today’s epistle. In reference to the Jewish heroes who went before him, he said, “Though weak, they were made powerful.” And in his own heart, he knew it was true of himself as well.
It can be true for all of us if we will open ourselves to God’s grace. He has no illusions about us. He knows our weakness, but He has another larger vision for us. Let Him show you His vision of your future; let Him lead you into a new place.

Love Your Enemies
Some years ago, a tiny Korean orphan arrived in the United States to join her adoptive family. She was nine months old and weighed only 9 ½ pounds. She grew and blossomed in her new home, but remained a diminutive size.
Her new name was Edie.
One day when Edie was in second grade, she ran home from school, crying. She was frightened. That day, three new girls had been enrolled in her class.
During the first recess, they picked the smallest girl in the class as the object of their anger and frustration. They pinched, poked, and pushed tiny Edie and threatened to beat her up.
Edie had spent an hour in the principal's office with the three girls and was assured the teachers would be watching. The girls were given a warning.
Edie's mother held her little one and comforted her. She learned later, after speaking with the principal, that the girls had been troublemakers at several other schools. They were being given one more chance at a new beginning.
"These girls must have been very hurt in their young lives to be so angry. Her mother said. "The Bible tells us, "Be kind to your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you. Edie, let's pray."
Then they prayed for the girls and asked the Lord for a plan of action.
A plan began to take shape. "I can't go to school with you everyday, so you will need to stay close to a teacher when you are at recess or in line to go into school." said Edie's mom.
"If the girls start to pick on you, tell them, "I'd really like to be your friend Are you brave enough to do that?" Edie's mother asked. "The Lord asks us to be kind to our enemies, let's see what happens, okay?
The tiny girl perked up, and with a smile, looked at her mother and said, "Yes, Mom, I'll try."
The next morning, and everyday before Edie left for school, she and her mom prayed for her to be safe and brave, and for the girls to be open to God's love. Everyday, the girls shoved into line behind Edie and called her names and tried to get in a poke or two.
Each time, Edie looked up at them and said, "I'd really like to be your friend." She did have to look up at them since they were so much taller than she was.
The teachers kept an eye on the proceedings, but did not need to interfere as the girls were not hurting her.
After about two weeks, Edie came home looking so discouraged. She told her mother that she didn't think it was working. After they talked about it some more and prayed, she decided to keep trying and continued to faithfully tell them, "I'd really like to be your friend."
One day the following week, Edie ran home as fast as she could and ran into the house shouting, "Mom, Mom, guess what happened today? Just like I always did, I said I'd really like to be your friend, and one of the girls said, "Okay, Edie, we give up, we'll be your friend."
Edie and her mom thanked the Lord for His faithfulness.
A short time later, as the girls were trying to become friends, Edie asked the teacher if she could sit at a table with these girls in the classroom. She had noticed that they were disruptive because they didn't understand the lessons. Edie became their tutor.
Toward the end of the school year, when Edie's parents went to school for a parent teacher conference, the teacher told them, "Because of Edie's kindness, those girls have completely turned around and are productive members of the class." She felt she had witnessed a miracle. And so did Edie's mom and dad.
How many people go through life never experiencing kindness? They don't see it in strangers, and some don't even find it in their own families.
Without experiencing kindness, it becomes impossible to express kindness toward others. The result of this tragic lack is seen everywhere.
What a different society this would be if everyone who has received kindness would be kind to others, especially the unlovely.

Can You See God?
A small boy once approached his slightly older sister with a question about God. "Susie, can anybody ever really see God?" he asked.
Busy with other things, Susie curtly replied: "No, of course
not silly. God is so far up in heaven that nobody can see him"
Time passed, but his question still lingered so he approached his mom: "Mom, can anybody ever really see God?" "No, not really," she gently said. "God is a spirit and he dwells in our hearts, but we can never really see Him."
Somewhat satisfied but still wondering, the youngster went on his way. Not long afterwards, his saintly old grandfather took the little boy on a fishing trip.
They were having a great time together. The sun was beginning to set with unusual splendor and the grandfather stared silently at the exquisite beauty unfolding before them.
On seeing the face of his grandfather reflecting such deep
peace and contentment, the little boy thought for a moment and finally spoke hesitatingly:
"Granddad, I--I-- wasn't going to ask anybody else, but I wonder if you can tell me the answer to something I've been wondering about a long time. Can anybody--can anybody ever really see God?"
The old man did not even turn his head. A long moment slipped by before he finally answered. "Son," he quietly said. "It's getting so I can't see anything else."

Mother Teresa Said...
Let us keep the joy of loving Jesus in our hearts. And let's share that joy with everyone we meet. Passing on joy is something which is very natural. We have no reason for not being joyful, since Christ is with us. Christ is in our hearts.

HEARTPRINTS
Whatever our hands touch---
We leave fingerprints!
On walls, on furniture,
On doorknobs, dishes, books,
As we touch we leave our identity.
Oh please where ever I go today,
Help me leave heart prints!
Heart prints of compassion
Of understanding and love.
Heart prints of kindness
and genuine concern.
May my heart touch a lonely neighbor
Or a runaway daughter,
Or an anxious mother,
Or, perhaps, a dear friend!
I shall go out today
To leave heart prints,
And if someone should say
"I felt your touch,"
May that one sense be...
YOUR LOVE
Touching through
ME.
May you truly leave your heart prints in places were it's needed today.
Have a wonderful week and be blessed.

Closing Prayer:
Dear Jesus - Prayer for Favors
Dear Heart of Jesus: In the past, I have asked for many favors. This time, I ask you this very special one (mention favor)(let us pray for our Carmela's house and her health). Take it dear Jesus and place it within your own broken heart, where your father sees it. Then, in your merciful eyes, it will become your favor, not mine. Amen.

Good night now and we will be praying the Rosary right after I hit submit here and you all are included in our Rosary prayers. God bless you all! Sweet Dreams!
