When your world turns upside down and everything seems so frightening,
thank God for His unchanging and constant love. Lord, Your love is the same
yesterday, today and tomorrow. In You I am safe and cared for.

"He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and
multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your
righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for your great
generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the
rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints
but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God." ~2 Corinthians
9:10-12

I believe that God had already seen my heart's needs before I cried to
God, before I was conscious of those needs myself. I believe that God
was already preparing the answer. God does not have to be petitioned
with sighs and tears and much speaking before God reluctantly looses
the desired help. God has already anticipated our every want and
need. I can try to see this, and humbly receive all that God has to
offer me.

I pray that I may understand my real wants and needs. I pray that my
understanding of those needs and wants may help to bring the answer to
them.
Hello all you positive pals and grateful gals (Thread Angels!) Hope your day went well. Today I called Fr. Jerry and invited him over in the morning at nine with an early lunch because Linus works at noon to 8:30. I also called another couple from our card club and they are coming Wednesday night - or maybe even in the afternoon and staying for supper.
Linus will call them in the morning to see if they'd rather come in the afternoon. Got up early this morning and we got to Mass - what a blessing! Some mornings it just doesn't work out! Linus had a short day today and his feet didn't hurt!! Praise God!! Tomorrow is a long day - then Thurs. morning he should get his new orthodics. I just got an email tonight from someone saying a person on my list has died on Christmas Day. She used to be on the boards a couple years ago. Do you remember Frankie? She didn't post much, maybe you don't remember her. I remember her being sickly, not knowing what she had but she said she was Christian and wanted to be on my list. I never got to know her well.
May she rest in peace. My blessings today - Got to Mass this morning - prayed for you all! I was up really early so I needed a good nap which is always a blessing, otherwise, the blessing of an ordinary day!
Homily of the Day
Making Do Isn’t Enough for Your Spirit!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Heb 5:1-10 / Mk 2:18-22
Making do is an admirable and most practical skill that can at times mean the difference between survival and disaster. Many is the family that avoided starvation by discovering how to make do with whatever was at hand. Indeed, many gourmet dishes, sweetbreads for example, have their origins with impoverished peasants who found a way to convert disgusting throwaways into succulent morsels. In more instances than one could count, the habit of making do is a manifestation of both courage and character. It says to the world, “We will survive, we will not be destroyed.”
There are, however, limits to the virtues of making do. It can skew our perspective and cause us to settle for too little: Sometimes just surviving isn’t enough. Sometimes what appears to be survival isn’t that at all, but just a long, slow death. That’s what Jesus had in mind when He said that trying to put new wine into old wineskins doesn’t work.
There are times when we need to start afresh, and that is especially true when it comes to our inner lives. Simple patchwork, just holding things together, isn’t good enough. We need, as Jesus said, to be born again, not physically, but spiritually. For each of us that rebirth will take a somewhat different shape, because our personal histories are different. But in every case, the rebirth will involve a radical opening of our spirits to the Holy Spirit of God.
When it comes to what you’re really about, don’t settle for just making do. Open your heart to the Spirit and get a whole new life!

I touch your eyes. See yourself as you really are—as I see you. See Myself in the people around you. See the needs in the people whom I call you to serve.
I touch your ears. Hear My voice. Hear My expressions of love and gratitude for the person you are and the things you do to please Me. Hear the pleas of the people whom I call you to serve.
I touch your mouth. Speak My words. Hold back all that is unloving, unkind, unholy. Proclaim the kingdom of God in the way that I call you to serve.
I touch your heart. Your stony heart is replaced by My sacred and pure heart. I heal the pain from old and new wounds, and I give you the pain that I feel in My heart, caused by the sins and wounds of others, and through this I call you to love the sinners unconditionally.
I touch your hands. Reach out and heal others with Me. Give to them My embrace. Stroke their shoulders to give them My encouragement, and pat their backs to give them My affirmation.
I touch your feet. Go wherever our Father sends you. I will be with You always. I walk with you. My Spirit guides you, keeping you on the right path. Be assured, you will not make lasting mistakes, you will not stray for long, for I am walking with you. I have everything in My control. Fear nothing, My wonderful, dear, dear friend. Fear nothing, for My love for you is all consuming, and always victorious.
I LOVE YOU!
FISHERMEN
Now it came to pass that a group existed who called themselves fishermen. And lo, there were many fish in the streams and lakes throughout the surrounding area.
Week after week, month after month, and year after year, those who called themselves fishermen met in meetings and talked about …
The call to fish.
The abundance of fish.
How they might go about fishing as an occupation.
They declared that fishing is always to be the primary task of fishermen, but they never fished!
These fishermen built large, beautiful buildings for local fishing headquarters. The plea was that everyone should be a fisherman and every fisherman should fish. One thing they didn't do, however, was fish.
In addition to meeting regularly, they organized a board to send out fishermen to other places where there were many fish. The board was formed by those who had great vision and courage to speak about fishing, to define fishing, to promote the idea of fishing in far-away streams and lakes where many other fish of different color lived. Also the board hired staffs and appointed committees and held many meetings to …
Define fishing.
Defend fishing
Decide what new streams should be thought about.
But the staff and committee members did not fish.
A speaker bureau was provided to schedule special speakers on the subject of fishing. After one stirring meeting on "The Necessity of Fishing," one young fellow left the meeting and went fishing. The next day he reported that he had caught two outstanding fish. He was honored for his excellent catch, and he was scheduled to visit all the big meetings to tell how he did it. So he quit his fishing in order to have time to tell about the experience to the other fishermen. He was also placed on the Fisherman's General Board as a person having considerable experience.
Now it's true that many of the fishermen sacrificed and put up with all kinds of difficulties. Some lived near the water and bore the smell of dead fish. They received ridicule of some who made fun of their fishermen's clubs and the fact that they claimed to be fishermen, yet never fished.
They wondered about those who felt it was of little use to attend the talks about fishing. After all, were they not following the Master, who said, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fisher of men"? (Mark 1:17)
Imagine how hurt some were when one day a person suggested that those who didn't fish were not really fishermen, no matter how much they claimed to be. Yet it did sound correct.
Is a person a fisherman if, year after year, he never catches a fish? Is one following if he isn't fishing?
AUTOMATIC DOORS
By Marion Smith
Psalm 116:2 He has inclined His ear to me and I will call upon Him as
long as I live
Recently I was shopping at a department store, and took
note of the automatic doors. One door was labeled “in”, and would
automatically swing inward as you approached it. The other, marked
“out”, only worked from the opposite side.
I am so thankful prayer-our communication with God- is
extended to us in a different manner. His doors of love opens both
ways- it is not a one-sided affair.
Our Heavenly Father is so majestic and mighty, but He listens to us as
we speak to him. Am I attuned to listen to Him when He speaks to me?
He is always available to us. He will hear our praises and petitions.
They may transpire anytime of the day or night, be of any length, and
be grand or simple in
language.
Likewise, He talks to us in so very many ways- perhaps through a
friend, a sermon, a Christian book, tape or radio program, through
spiritual music, or through the awareness of the miracle of nature and
life. He definitely speaks to me through His holy Word- the Bible. He
even speaks to us in the small still inner voice that each Christian
possesses.
Thank you, Lord, that our communication is a two-way door. You listen
to us, as well as speak to us . We can talk to you as well as hear You
through the door you have opened for each of your children- the door
of prayer.
Closing Prayer:
Prayer for healing
O Jesus, we believe in you, we hope in you, and we love you.
Strengthen our faith, renew our hope and love, and grant our prayers.
Touch with your healing love, O Lord, all who feel the hurt of life's wounds.
Long ago, when people prayed to you for healing,
you listened to them, blessed them
and answered their prayer.
Heal us now of our sinfulness
and of the hatred that divides us.
Take away our hardness of heart.
Open our eyes which are often blind to the needs of others.
Remove our selfishness and our greed.
Give us self-control at all times,
and fill our hearts with your eternal love.
O Jesus, we ask you now to heal and bless us,
and fill us with your peace. Amen.
Good night everyone - Sweet Dreams and God bless you! Have a good day tomorrow which is almost here!
