Hello my friends! What a beautiful day in the neighborhood God is giving us today! Lots of sun shine, and snow is melting, all is good! This morning would you believe we had cards with another couple from the card club, this couple is just a couple blocks from us and friends, and we'll play with them more often after we are finished with the club. They'd like that, no more schedules for us. We have two more couples to play yet, and that will be in April, and then we're done It was nice this morning, they served us lunch - he does a lot of cooking - they used to own a restaurant years ago. His wife, such a sweetheart, Joan, has Alz but can still play cards, and once in a while forgets what's trump etc. but he's such a good husband to her!! We've known them for many years. Linus grew up with him in the same town. Joan doesn't seem that bad yet, but I heard she can get lost easy if she drives alone. Anyway, here he canned beef and served it, over buns, and was it ever good!!! I've never canned meat, my Mom did, but he likes to can and make things from scratch. Here's hoping our Birthday girl is having a great day today!! I wish to welcome back Julie again as she was missed - and belongs here with us!!
He almost killed somebody, but one minute changed his life. The beautiful story comes from Sherman Rogers' old book, "Foremen: Leaders or Drivers?" In his true-life story, Rogers illustrates the importance of effective relationships.
During his college years, Rogers spent a summer in an Idaho logging camp. When the superintendent had to leave for a few days, he put Rogers in charge.
"What if the men refuse to follow my orders?" Rogers asked. He thought of Tony, an immigrant worker who grumbled and growled all day, giving the other men a hard time.
"Fire them," the superintendent said. Then, as if reading Rogers' mind, he added, "I suppose you think you are going to fire Tony if you get the chance. I'd feel badly about that. I have been logging for 40 years. Tony is the most reliable worker I've ever had. I know he is a grouch and that he hates everybody and everything. But he comes in first and leaves last. There has not been an accident for eight years on the hill where he works."
Rogers took over the next day. He went to Tony and spoke to him. "Tony, do you know I'm in charge here today?" Tony grunted. "I was going to fire you the first time we tangled, but I want you to know I'm not," he told Tony, adding what the superintendent had said.
When he finished, Tony dropped the shovelful of sand he had held and tears streamed down his face. "Why he no tell me dat eight years ago?"
That day Tony worked harder than ever before -- and he smiled! He later said to Rogers, "I told Maria you first foreman in deese country who ever say, 'Good work, Tony,' and it make Maria feel like Christmas."
Rogers went back to school after that summer. Twelve years later he met Tony again. He was superintendent for railroad construction for one of the largest logging companies in the West. Rogers asked him how he came to California and happened to have such success.
Tony replied, "If it not be for the one minute you talk to me back in Idaho, I keel somebody someday. One minute, she change my whole life."
Effective managers know the importance of taking a moment to point out what a worker is doing well. But what a difference a minute of affirmation can make in any relationship!
One minute. Have you got one minute to thank someone? A minute to tell someone what you sincerely like or appreciate about her? A minute to elaborate on something he did well? One minute. It can make a difference for a lifetime.
I knelt to pray when day was done
And prayed, "O Lord, bless everyone,
Lift from each saddened heart the pain
And let the sick be well again."
And then I woke another day
And carelessly went on my way,
The whole day long I did not try
To wipe a tear from any eye.
I did not try to share the load
Of any brother on the road.
I did not even go to see
The sick man just next door to me.
Yet once again when day was done
I prayed, "O Lord, bless everyone."
But as I prayed, into my ear
there came a voice that whispered clear,
"Pause now, my child, before you pray.
Whom have you tried to bless today?
God's sweetest blessings always go
by hands that serve him here below."
And then I hid my face and cried,
"Forgive me, God, I have not tried,
But let me live another day
and I will live the way I pray."

Rest in My radiant presence. The world around you seems to spin faster and faster, till everything is a blur. Yet there is a cushion of calm at the center of you life, where you live in union with Me. Return to this soothing canter as often as you can, for this is where you are energized: filled with My love, joy and peace.
The world is a needy place; do not go there for sustenance, Instead, come to Me. Learn to depend on Me alone, and your weakness will become saturated with My power. When you find your completeness in Me, you can help other people without using them to meet your own needs. Live in the light of My presence, and your light will shine brightly into the lives of others.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.
1 John 4:12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. – From Jesus Calling
From Patrick Carnevale – Scripture Reflections

Good Morning Gloria, Julie, Jubilant, Harlene, Bobbiesue, Lucy, and all of our other posters and readers,
Many thanks again for making my day yesterday. I'm happy this morning, and it's good to get back to normal today. I'll always remember this birthday, and I was happy that I shared it with everyone here.
I made a quick trip to the store this morning, just for a few items, and need to figure out what I feel like working on today. It's a little cloudy, but already mid- thirties outside, so we're thrilled to see that. The birds and squirrels aren't eating much of the e food I put out for them, so they must be finding their usual food available again. It's a relief to see a few bare spots out in the yard, and it makes it easier getting across the yard to the carport as well.
Gloria, I'm happy you have good friends to play cards with. Enjoy the rest of the games you have left with the club.
Julie, Beautiful posts today. You find some amazing pictures as well as words to consider.
Jubilant, Happy you stopped by! So nice to see you.
Bobbiesue, Hope you continue to see snow melt away, and can get out more safely and easily.
Harlene, Hope you're doing ok with the knee sprain. Is it feeling any better?
Hope everyone has a great day! Hugs, pinky
