Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello my friends! Hope your day is going well. Let's see, first off we went to Mass at 8 AM - Holy Day today - Feast of the Immaculate Conception. At noon I had my teeth cleaned, have to go every three months because plaque comes on fast, unfortunately. At the same time, Linus had a Dr. Mike appointment, and that went well, he's feeling better. After that, we went to Perkins for lunch - and then we both had a nap before he left for work. That's my day so far - but I'm going to get at my Christmas cards right away after this. Had a long talk with Darla last night - she is so excited about our coming. Please continue to pray for her healing - she is so sore. I'm praying that whatever could be blocking her healing would be removed. Praying she can live a normal life without pain pills or sleeping pills - all still from our car accident years ago. Air bag hit her in the head and she's been sore ever since. So my blessings today so far - nice Mass this morning with choir, drums and piano and guitar, and teeth cleaned, and a blessing nap!! I was so tired!! Hope your day is filled with lots and lots of blessings!

Jesus came to us to serve not be served. Lord, help me to set aside
my self-serving behaviors and model my life after You.

S C R I P T U R E S F O R T H E D A Y

You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head
will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives."
~Luke 21:12-19

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

It's not easy to be a true Christian. The price is laid out on today's
Gospel. "You will be hated by all because of my name." We may think this
does not apply to us. Then we need to ask ourselves if our faith realy
and truly sets us apart from others around us. And we can be comfroted to
hear, "... but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your
perseverance you will secure your lives.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may be a true Christian. I pray that I may trust in the
security the Lord gives me as He helps me see the importance of working
for those things which last forever.

RECIPE FOR KINDNESS
Author Unknown

Fold two hands together
And express a dash of sorrow
Marinate it overnight
And work on it tomorrow.

Chop one grudge in tiny pieces
Add several cups of love
Dredge with a large sized smile
Mix with the ingredients above.

Dissolve the hate within you,
By doing a good deed
Cut in and help your friend
If he should be in need.

Stir in laughter, love an kindness
From the heart it has to come,
Toss with genuine forgiveness
And give your neighbor some.

The amount of people served
Will depend on you,
It can serve the whole wide world,
If you really want it to.

Thank you God for creating ME!

Thank you God for creating ME!
In your womb I have been fashioned;
Your spirit dwells within me;
Truly I am wonderfully marvelously made!

From your love and wisdom have I come
To this place and time.
To me you have given talent and life and blessings.
To me you have given tasks given to no others.

With joy and gratitude
I celebrate my much-honored existence.
From ages past to eternity,
I have been included in your divine plan.

Thank you God for creating ME!

TEN WAYS TO HAVE A GREAT DAY

1. TODAY I WILL NOT STRIKE BACK:
If someone is rude,
if someone is impatient,
if someone is unkind....
I will not respond in a like manner.

2. TODAY I WILL ASK GOD TO BLESS MY "ENEMY":
If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly,
I will quietly ask GOD to bless that individual.
I understand the "enemy" could be a family member,
neighbor, coworker or stranger.

3. TODAY I WILL BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT I SAY:
I will carefully choose and guard my words being certain that I do not
spread gossip.

4. TODAY I WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE:
I will find ways to help share the burden of another person.

5. TODAY I WILL FORGIVE:
I will forgive any hurts or injuries that come my way.

6. TODAY I WILL DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE, BUT I WILL DO IT SECRETLY:
I will reach out anonymously and bless the life of another.

7. TODAY I WILL TREAT OTHERS THE WAY I WISH TO BE TREATED:
I will practice the golden rule-do unto others as I would have them do
unto you-with everyone I encounter.

8. TODAY I WILL RAISE THE SPIRITS OF SOMEONE WHO IS DISCOURAGED:
My smile, my words,my expression of support, can make the difference to
someone who is wrestling with life.

9. TODAY I WILL NURTURE MY BODY:
I will eat less;
I will eat only healthy foods.
I will thank GOD for my body.

10. TODAY I WILL GROW SPIRITUALLY:
I will spend a little more time in prayer today:
I will begin reading something spiritual or inspirational today;
I will find a quiet place (at some point during this day)
and listen to GOD's voice!!! "But since we belong to the day,
let us be self controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate,
and hope of salvation as a helmet."

THIS IS WHAT LOVE IS ALL ABOUT
Author Unknown

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 am, When an elderly
gentleman in his 80's, arrived to have stitches removed from his
thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at
9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it
would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw
him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with
another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam it was well
healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to
remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his
wound, we began to engage in conversation I asked him if he had a
doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The
gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat
breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health. He told me
that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of
Alzheimer Disease.

As we talked, and I finished dressing his wound, I asked if she would
be worried if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew
who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was
surprised, and asked him. "And you still go every morning, even though
she doesn't know who you are?" He smiled as he patted my hand and
said. "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and
thought, "That is the kind of love I want in my life."

True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an
acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the best of everything that comes along their way."

Through Me

Through me let there be kind words, a warm smile,
and a caring heart.

Through me let there be a willingness to listen
and a readiness to understand.

Through me let there be dependability, steadfastness,
trust and loyalty.

Through me let there be compassion, forgiveness,
mercy and love.

Through me let there be every quality I find,
O Lord, in Thee.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Our son has been home the past couple of days so I haven't had a chance to post, until now. He goes back home tomorrow, please keep his safe travels in your prayers. Thanks.

Gloria, it sounds like you've had a very busy day. Sorry to hear Darla has so much pain, those car accidents can affect you in ways you'd never think. Prayers that she receives relief.

Harlene, glad you are feeling better after your chiro appt. Hope you have a good night.

We've been busy putting up Christmas decorations inside and out. They are stored under the house and in the attic. Oh my goodness. My husband cleaned out the attic and you wouldn't believe all of the stuff he found. Stuff long forgotten. I spent most of the day sifting through everything and gave our daughter a lot of old baskets, ornaments, ribbons, decorations, dishes, oh my, just STUFF! lol I still have things I need rid of. Strands of Christmas lights, you would not believe. I told my husband we could light every house on our block. lol

Well, I am going to get ready for bed. May your dreams be as sweet as you are. God bless each and everyone of you and your families.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Harlene - hope you continue to feel much better day by day! That is my prayer for you. Thanks so much for your continued prayers for Darla.

Lucy - how nice to have your son home with you for the last couple of days for quality time to visit etc. much better than email or phone calls. Yes, Praying for his safe trip back. Thanks for praying for Darla for relief from pain. Some years ago we got rid of alot of Christmas decorations - gave to Epilipsy Fund - still have more that accumulate. Nothing is up this year, not even a tree. Outside we usually have lights, nothing now. He just didn't feel like putting them up this year.

I want to talk to you all about Monica. She used to be Deil's neighbor, moved 12 miles away to a farm, yet she stops to see Deil alot on her way to work etc. almost every day to see how Deil is doing. She's been hard of hearing, I think one ear she can't hear from, but on Wednesday, she's going to have surgery, having an implant put in her ear and it's a very serious surgery, so please pray for Monica for successful surgery, and that her doctor's hands will do well all thru the surgery. I'll also put this on the Prayer Request thread so more people can read it - and PRAY!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello Everyone, It's a grey day outside, and we're under a storm advisory. We're had a wintery mix so far, snow expected later on. Several inches they say. I had considered a trip to pick up a few gift bags to finish wrapping, but the forecast changed my plans. I wrapped everything I was able to, and there's only a couple things left to do. I was happy to get all of this done, even though my plan was writing out cards. lol It's ok..... As long as something got accomplished I'm happy.

This afternoon will be a restful one. My hip is acting up in solidarity with Harlene's! Sciatica seems not to discriminate much, so taking it easy will hopefully help it work itself out. Maybe the cards will get done yet. We've only received two so far, so I guess we're not the only ones behind on getting them out. This advent season has been the most peaceful one for me ever. Since we've decided to let go of a number of former " must dos" for the season, it's really helped everything that's getting done feel more joyful, and not just another task to complete. Wish I'd figured this out a long time ago!

Hello to all of our posters and readers! Hope everyone has a good day, and is getting in the spirit of the season. Hugs, pinky

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Glory to God! The car repair shop called and my car will be ready tomorrow at 11AM at a fee cheaper than they had previously quoted. God answered my prayers and the prayers of others who had been prayer for me. I can now have my car to go where I need to go. I am going to church Sunday to give Him thanks. I received a great blessing.

Blessings to all here and may God answer your prayers too. God bless you all.
