Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Each time you have a kind thought, say a kind word or do a kind
deed you are living your love. Lord, as I see the world through loving
eyes, I experience heaven on earth.

Scripture for the day:

"'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all
your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first
commandment. And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the
prophets." ~Matthew 22:37-40

Meditation for the day:

We can work at overcoming ourselves, our selfish desires and our
self-centeredness. This can never be fully accomplished. We can
never become entirely unselfish. But we can come to realize that we
are not at the center of the universe and that everything does not
revolve around us at the center. I am only one cell in a vast network
of human cells. I can at least make the effort to conquer the
self-life and seek daily to obtain more and more of this
self-conquest. "The one who overcomes himself is greater than the one
who conquers a city."

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may strive to overcome my selfishness. I pray that I
may achieve the right perspective of my position in the world.

Peace and Love to you, my friends! Hope your day was great - ours got up to
the upper 70's again - very nice weather!! I got to talk to Sr. LaDonna, ,my
sister, on the phone this afternoon, she is so busy with everything there -
unpacking, getting organized to go on her trip Thursday morning - I did tell
her to be sure to check on her mail because I sent her a card - to cheer her
up, she said she would, otherwise, she might easily forget to check her mail
with leaving so soon. My other sisters are planning to send her a card to,
just to wish her well - welcoming her to the Motherhouse to live now, and
Bon Voyage for her trip - just to give her sisterly support and love. It
should make her smile with all that love she'll receive with the kind words
of love and prayers for her. It was a blessing I got ahold of her - in her
busyness, we didn't talk long, but did decide that she won't try to get her
new email address there until after she comes back - after 10 days. Supper
tonight was hamburgers on the grill - he grills everything, and I made some
fresh potatoes, sweet potatoes, and fresh carrots in a pot with mushroom
soup and mushrooms - cooked in left-over sauce from yesterday - and it was
delicious! There's more left for another meal, so I'll re-heat it tomorrow
and make some chicken.
I'm very blessed with a freezer to be able to keep our chickens and meats,
plus all the things I freeze from the garden. My family is a great
blessing along with all my friends, especially all of you here!!

Are You Just Living in the Surface?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Jonah 1:1-2:2, 11 / Lk 10:25-37

Educators make a key distinction between what they call “surface knowledge”
as opposed to what’s known as “dynamic knowledge.” Surface knowledge
encompasses most of what is traditionally learned in schools. For example,
how many persons there are in the Trinity, or in what year Columbus first
set foot in the new world. Such knowledge is easily forgotten and has little
effect on life. On the other hand, there’s dynamic knowledge which
encompasses the information and insights — wholesome or otherwise — that
actually come into play when we make choices. In that category, we’d hope to
find judgments such as, “God can be trusted,” and “There is life after
death.”

Most Catholic adults and, indeed, most of their children know the story of
the Good Samaritan, which is today’s gospel. And most of us would have a
ready answer to the question, “According to Jesus, who is my neighbor?” Our
answer would be simple and clear: “Everybody,” and our answer would be
right. But that doesn’t close the matter. There’s a further question: Is our
right answer surface knowledge or dynamic knowledge? Is it strictly correct
information, or does it actually affect and determine the way we live?

That’s the crucial question for us all, and it can be phrased in another
way: How Christian are we, in fact? Does Jesus’ teaching determine our
priorities, our lifestyle, the way we do business, the way we treat one
another, our willingness to forgive, our readiness to help? It’s a chilling
thought to remember that Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini were all baptized
Christians who knew their prayers by heart.

So how Christian are you really? Check the patterns of your daily choices,
and you’ll know right away. The patterns never lie.

TIME AND FRIENDS....

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with
$86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening
deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.
What would you do? Draw out ALL OF IT, of course!!!!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it
credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost,
whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries
over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the
remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is
yours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow."
You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to
get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success! The clock is
running. Make the most of today.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a
premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly
magazine.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to
meet.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.

To realize the value of ONE-SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an
accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a
silver medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you
shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.

And remember that time waits for no one.
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why it's called the present!!!

TAKE MY HAND
Author Unknown

Are you troubled, burdened, blue?
Take my hand.
I've been troubled, too,
I understand.
Where you've fallen, once I fell --
Let me help the clouds dispel --
Take my hand.

Others helped when I was weak,
Took my hand,
Helped me face toward the peak,
Helped me stand.
What they did, now let me do --
Pass the kindness on to you.
Someday you'll help others, too.
Take my hand.

Strength

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Has a new opportunity opened up for you? Maybe after thinking and
praying about it, you feel drawn to take on the project, but a nagging
doubt holds you back. Are you strong enough? If you keep looking at
your own strength, you will pass on the opportunity. If instead you look
to God and realize it's His strength He's offering, you can take on the
challenge with confidence. In Him you have great strength!

The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil
one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3

God never expects you to hold on to your faith by your own strength. He
knows the weakness of all human hearts, and He knows all about the
temptations you deal with every day. With His own strength, God will
defend you! Ask the Holy Spirit to give you His strength and power, so you
will exercise your spiritual muscles and move beyond your frailty. Where
you are weak, God is strong.

A Morning Prayer

I call upon you, O Lord,
and in the morning you hear me.
In the morning I offer
you my prayer,
watching and waiting.
I lift my heart to you, O Lord,
to be strengthened for this day.
Be with me in all I do, my God;
guide me in all my ways.

I will carry some burdens today;
some trials will be mine.
So I wait for your help, Lord,
lest I stumble and fall.

I will do my work, Father,
the work begun by your Son.
He lives in me and I in him;
may his work today be done.
Amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, Live in Us

Come, Holy Spirit, live in us
With God the Father and the Son,
And grant us your abundant grace
To sanctify and make us one.

May mind and tongue made strong in love,
Your praise throughout the world proclaim,
And may that love within our hearts
Set fire to others with its flame.

Most blessed Trinity of love
For whom the heart of man was made,
To you be praise in timeless song,
And everlasting homage paid.

Blessed Mother Teresa´s Wisdom

Smiles

"Peace begins with a smile."
----------

"Sometimes it is harder for us to smile at those who live with us, the
immediate members of our families, than it is to smile at those who are not
so close to us. Let us never forget: love begins at home."
----------

"I will never understand all the good that a simple smile can accomplish."
----------

"To smile at someone who is sad; to visit, even for a little while, someone
who is lonely; to give someone shelter from the rain with our umbrella; to
read something for someone who is blind; these and others can be small
things, very small things, but they are appropriate to give our love of God
concrete expression to the poor."

"What can I offer the Lord for all his goodness to me?" Pslam 116:12

Lord Jesus,
You have given me your whole self,
all your love,
and your life itself.

Let me give myself to you: I give you
my body to serve you;
my soul to house you;
my heart to love you;
my mind to remember you;
my will to do your will;
my life to serve you in others.

From now on, my dear Lord Jesus,
may every moment of my time,
and every breath I breathe,
belong only to you
who have first given them to me.

Amen.

FLAME OF LOVE
Author Unkown

"I can master it," said the Ax. His blows fell heavy on the hard,
strong steel. But each blow only made his edge more blunt until he
ceased to strike.

"Leave it to me," said the Saw. With his relentless teeth, he worked
back and forth. But to his dismay, all of his teeth were worn out or
broken off.

"Ha!" said the Hammer. "I knew you could not do this. Let me show you
how." But with the very first blow, his head flew off, and the steel
was unchanged.

"Shall I try?" asked the Flame. And it curled itself gently around the
strong, hard steel, embraced it, and would not let it go. And the
tough steel melted.

There are hearts that are hard enough to resist the forces of wrath
and the fury of pride. But hard is the heart that can resist the warm
flame of Love.

"'For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with
their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see
with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them. But blessed are your eyes because
they see, and your ears because they hear. For I tell you the truth,
many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not
see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.'" Matthew
13:15-17 (NIV)

Good night everyone and Sweet Dreams - Enjoy the Gift of God's day

blessings!!! God bless you!
