Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends! Today we had such cold winds, that when Linus was going to plow out some parts of Lori's driveway, the wind chill got him so cold he quit fast! So tomorrow again will be cold, the high will be -2. It's predicted to get down to -20 tonight! I'm so grateful to have our in-floor heat and warm house! Another blessing was - Lori came for supper to pick up Ollie who was here for the day, and she showed me something new! Would you believe mashed cauliflower for mashed potatoes? I have to say it looks like, and even can taste like mashed potatoes especially with some gravy on it. We're eating without carbs for suppers and trying all kinds of good ideas. She actually found this on Pintrest! Now that I know how to make it, first cook the cauliflower, then put in food processor and processed till smooth with adding a little coconut milk to it, some chives, and salt and pepper and it's it! Now you learned something new!!! My hand is okay again today! Praise God! I'm sure those raisins and gin are helping or it'd be much worse!! The raisins and gin sure kept Linus from going to the chiropractor often! Well, please come again, and join us with counting your blessings, our everyday blessings that much of the time go un-noticed, and we just want to thank our God for all His blessings! May you all have a very blessed night and day tomorrow!

Much time is spent fearing that which isn't really there in the first place.

Lord, help me conquer my fears and overcome my difficulties as they

happen rather than giving up and letting my difficulties overcome me.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes

refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the

destroying storms pass by." ~Psalm 57:1

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

"My soul is restless until it finds its rest in Thee." A river flows

on, until it loses itself in the sea. Our spirits long for rest in

the Spirit of God. We can yearn to realize a peace, a rest, a

satisfaction that we have never found in the world or its pursuits.

Some of us are not conscious of our need, and can shut the doors

of our spirits against the Spirit of God. That makes it difficult for

us to find true peace.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may feel the divine unrest. I pray that my soul may

find its rest in God.

THINK OF JESUS

Think of JESUS

there beside you,

like a friend

who is glad to know you-

Feel the comfort

of HIS presence

and the kindness.

Think of JESUS

warmly smiling,

telling stories,

sharing laughter,

Bringing joy

that lights the moment,

peacefulness

that lingers after...

Think of JESUS

speaking gently

with a glow

of love about HIM,

And you will feel

the calm assurance

that you will never

be without HIM.

Too Often

Too often we don't realize

what we have until it is gone

Too often we wait too late to say

"I'm sorry - I was wrong."

Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones

we hold dearest to our hearts

And we allow foolish things

to tear our lives apart.

Far too many times we let

unimportant things into our minds

And then it's usually too late

to see what made us blind.

So be sure that you let people know

how much they mean to you.

Take that time to say the words

before your time is through.

Be sure that you appreciate

everything you've got

And be thankful for the little things

in Life that mean a lot.

Growing old surrounded by those we love

is a privilege denied to many

Never leave behind regrets.

This dense, fruity cake calls for ingredients by way of scriptural

SCRIPTURE CAKE

Makes 8 to 10 servings

Part 1

3/4 cup (180 ml) Psalms 55:21

1 cup (250 ml) Jeremiah 6:20

3 Jeremiah 17:11

1/4 cup (60 ml) Judges 4:19

1 tbsp (15 ml) I Samuel 14:25

Part 2

2 1/4 cups (560 ml.) Leviticus 6:15

1/4 tsp (1 ml) Leviticus 2:13

1 tbsp (15 ml) Amos 4:5

1 tsp (5 ml) II Chronicles 9:9

Part 3

1 cup (250 ml) I Samuel 30:12

1 cup (250 ml) Numbers 13:23

1/2 cup (125 ml) Numbers 17:8

Heat the oven to 350 F (180 C). Lightly coat 4 mini loaf pans with baking

spray (a blend of oil and flour).

PART 1:

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the first ingredient until

light and creamy. Add the second ingredient and beat until fluffy, about 2

minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl after the first minute.

One at a time, add the third ingredient, beating well after each addition.

Mix in the fourth and fifth ingredients. Set aside.

PART 2:

In a large mesh strainer or flour sifter, combine the ingredients listed in

Part 2. Sift the ingredients together onto a sheet of parchment paper or

into a bowl. Reserve 1/4 cup (60 mL) of the mixture.

With the mixer on low, add half of the remaining Part 2 mixture to Part 1.

Mix only until thoroughly blended, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed.

Add the remaining Part 2 mixture and mix until blended to create the batter.

PART 3:

In a medium bowl, combine the Part 3 ingredients. Add the reserved Part 2

mixture and toss to lightly coat. Add this mixture to the batter and use a

silicone spatula to gently fold it in.

Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pans, filling them three - quarters

full.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted at the center comes

out clean. Cool on a rack for 15 minutes, then remove the cakes from the

pans and cool completely before serving. If desired, dust with powdered

sugar.

Hey Gloria, I'm glad your hand is feeling better.

We had 13.5 inches of snow yesterday, of course that is not as much as you get in MPLS. but I sure hope it's the end of it. Wishful thinking, LOL.

Welcome hsawaknow.

Counting my blessings.

I'm very thankful for all of you. I am especially thanking the Lord today for good weather in my neck of the woods. We really haven't had too much a winter around here.

I'm praying for the homeless on these super cold nights, hoping they will have a warm place to rest.

Have a blessed day, each and everyone of you.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Good afternoon!

It seems cold air has infiltrated most of the nation, even here in the deep south. Raise your hand if you are ready for warmer weather!!!

I thought so! lol

Thoughts and prayers to you all. I hope you are having a good day. Keep my dh in your prayers if you would. He is having some sort of shoulder/neck problem. He has an appt next week with his neurologist so I pray that will bring an answer and a solution to his pain. Our son is still looking for another job to supplement his p/t jobs. It seems so many people are in need for so many things. All we can do is pray about our situations, do what we can to better them, help others when we can and have faith and be patient, God does answer prayer.

Peace and blessings to all.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

hsawaknow - Thanks for your post and if I've helped in any way, that's God working and He uses us to help! Praise His Holy Name! Your posts mean a lot to me, keep them coming! It's good to get to know you a little bit better. Praying for you!

Harlene - Yes, my hand is a lot better today! This morning we woke up to 20 below! It's down now to 9 below and Lori has an appointment now at an eye doctor in Mpls, an hour and a half away from us, she will get her eyes dilated, so Linus went with her to drive home. This is a start for the laser eye surgery that you don't need glasses or contacts anymore. Lori took our Wedding Picture of us by the cake home with her last night and will scan it to my email so I can email it to you!

marmot - That's great news on your good report of your mammogram! It's always great to get good news!! Glad to hear the gin and raisins are working for you! Isn't that amazing? I just found out today that my friend started getting severe knee pains, just by walking down the steps at her house, and then she remembered I gave her some gin and raisins, so she started taking them, and her pain is gone!! Praise God!!

rondell - Nice to see you here again!! It's a great blessing not to get much winter where you live!! May our Lord, Jesus Christ, take care of the homeless and grant them shelter, better yet a job for those who can work, so they don't have to be homeless anymore. My daughter worked for people who had to be scanned to see if they were eligible for services at her company. She wrote out a resume for someone once who felt so good he said, "I'm really somebody!" She helped a lot so they wouldn't be out in the streets.

Lucy - sure will pray for your husband for his shoulder/neck problem. Maybe gin and raisins might help? You never know. It's sure kept Linus from running to the chiro so often! Would you please pray for Linus that if God wills, He may restore Linus' hearing? One ear is pretty bad, he can hear but it's not as good as it used to be. No way can we afford a hearing aid - so we come to God for his Mercy and His Healing Power.

Bobbiesue - Sorry you're aren't feeling good today -hope you're not getting sick - take care and rest and may God bless you with Healing.
