Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends! Here's hoping you all had a great Christmas and keeping Christ in Christmas! Mine was filled with lots of blessings, Darla's in-laws came and stay a long time, they really enjoyed being here with us and seeing their son too yet before they leave for Texas. It's always a blessing to be all together as family. Wish that could be the case with my oldest sister, Deil, who's missing Terri - who's estranged from the family and no one can find her. It's been a good Christmas for us - hope so for all of you, too.

When you can't fall asleep, spend the time talking with God and in prayer

you will soon be sleeping. Lord, next to Your heart, what a safe and

restful

place to sleep.

Scripture for the day:

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."

~Matthew 18:20

Meditation for the day:

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."

The spirit of God can come upon God's followers when they are all together

at one time, in one place, and with one accord. When two or three

consecrated souls are together at a meeting place, the spirit of God is

there to

help and guide them. Where any sincere group of people are together,

reverently seeking the help of God, God's power and God's spirit are there

to

inspire them.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be in accord with the members of my group. I pray

that I may feel the strength of a consecrated group.

What are you grateful for?

Here's some food for thought:

"Little things"

By Bob Perks

"What do you remember most about your mom?" I asked.

"The way she did the dishes," she replied. "She used a wash rag, not

a sponge. She took her time doing them like she was giving us a bath."

I was in a card store trying to find a card for my wife. I don't like

to just stand there looking. I like to talk to the people who are

trying desperately to find just the right words.

I thought it was a great time to ask what they remembered. It also

helped them to find the right card.

"What about you? What one thing do you think of when you think of

her?" I asked the woman to my right.

"The way she folded her clothes. It was never one, two, three. If she

was folding an under shirt it was the same as folding a work shirt.

Every crease in every fold meant something to her," she replied.

Another woman nearby joined in.

"My mom ironed the bed linens. The details she insisted on were such

that you would think she was giving tours through the house," she said

laughing.

Within minutes each of them had selected the "perfect" card.

"Thanks. That helped me find the right one."

"Me, too!"

"I hate buying cards...this was easy, thanks!"

So, what was it that made it so easy?

The little things.

When it comes to love, we don't think about the big accomplishments,

we tend to focus on the details. The way they walk, talk, smile, cook,

laugh or sing is suddenly more important than anything else.

Think for a moment about someone you love. What comes to mind?

See, we create an image of that love by painting a picture of them.

All the little things remembered are like single strokes of a brush.

For me? Cup cakes. My mom made the best cup cakes. Nothing fancy, just

chocolate with butter icing. The cake was moist and the icing thick.

Always the first ones to go at the school bake sales.

If you are a mom by giving birth, adopting or by marriage. If you have

no human children but furry babies. If you are blessed to still have

your mom or if she is now blessing heaven with her presence...

I wish for you this weekend, days filled with little things to

remember and big love to give.

I have to bake some cup cakes!

Forgiveness Heals

A girl was being treated for several months for anemia but without any

success. So her doctor decided to send her to a sanatorium faraway.

The first thing she got there, she underwent a thorough physical

examination. And the examining doctor found her blood count to be completely

normal. The referring doctor double-checked it and could not believe his

eyes. So he called in the girl and asked her, "Has anything out of the

ordinary happened in your life since your last visit? "Yes," she admitted.

"Suddenly I was able to forgive someone against whom I had borne a nasty

grudge all my life. At that moment, I felt completely changed inside."

So now the doctor knew the answer. Her mental attitude had changed, and the

very state of her blood had changed with it.

Being angry at someone can be stupid, because the other person might not

even be aware of it. So, the only one being harmed is our self.

PRAYER FOR STRENGTH AND WISDOM

Lord, give me strength and wisdom to live this day as I ought.

Give me

strength to overcome every temptation which may come to me,

strength to do well every task which is assigned to me,

strength to shoulder every responsibility which is laid upon my shoulders,

Give me

wisdom to know when to speak and when to keep silent,

wisdom to know when to act and when to refrain from action,

wisdom to know when to speak my mind and when to hold my peace.

So bring me to the end of this day in goodness, in happiness and in peace.

Amen.
