Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

If everyone thought alike, no one would have to do much thinking.

Lord, bless me with the strength of my convictions and the ability

to disagree when necessary without being disagreeable.

Scripture for the day:

"Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to

give you the kingdom." ~Luke 12:32

Meditation for the day:

The life-line, the line of rescue, is the line from the soul to God.

On

one end of the life-line is our faith and on the other end is God's power.

It can be a strong line and no soul can be overwhelmed who is linked to God

by it. I can trust in this life-line and never be afraid. God can save me

from doing wrong and from the cares and troubles of life. I can look to God

for help and trust God for aid when I am emotionally upset.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that no lack of trust of fearfulness will make me disloyal to God. I

pray that I may keep a stronghold on the life-line of faith.

Hello my friends! Gosh! it's late - been talking to my daughter, Darla, for a long, long time tonight! Always a blessing to talk to her, she's so far away!! She is very hopeful that she gets that job in Mpls at Metro State University - it's in Management. I told her we'll pray very hard for her - and ask for your prayers again for her acceptance. She gets a phone interview on March, 19th, the Feast of St. Joseph, who is the Patron Saint for jobs, among other things, too, and then if they like her, they'll fly her here for another interview. We got a new Pope!! Praise the Lord! Another great blessing for us all!! Blessings to our Pope Francis! Praying for all your needs, thanks for praying for all of us.

Prayer in Time of Change

Eternal and everliving God, I am involved in a major change in my life,

and it is quite unsettling. I know that for us creatures, change is

an indication of life, but I still find it hard to accept.

Enable me to see your hand in it, subtly bringing about your plan for me

and enabling me to come closer to You.

Make me appreciate the many good aspects of change

and learn to live with the bad aspects.

Teach me to be pliable and adaptable to any change,

fully aware that once change stops for me,

I will no longer be alive on this earth. Amen.

Prayer to Practice What Jesus Taught

O Lord Jesus Christ, grant us a measure of your Spirit. Help us to

obey your teaching,

soothe anger,

cultivate pity,

overcome desire,

increase love,

cast off sorrow,

sun vainglory,

renounce revenge,

and not be afraid of death.

Let us ever entrust our spirit to the everlasting God who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and rules forever and ever. Amen.

Maybe God wanted us to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one

so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

Maybe when the door of happiness closes, another opens,

but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.

Maybe the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word,

and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

Maybe it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it,

but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.

Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back.

Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart;

but if it does not, be content it grew in yours.

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone,

an hour to like someone,

and a day to love someone,

but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive.

Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.

Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.

Find the one that makes your heart smile.

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much

that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real.

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be,

because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,

enough trials to make you strong,

enough sorrow to keep you human,

enough hope to make you happy.

Always put yourself in others' shoes.

If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried,

for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.

Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past,

you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.

Live your life so that when you die, you are the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

THE FAMILY BIBLE

Author Unknown

Old brother Higgins built a shelf

for the family bible to rest itself

lest a sticky finger or grimy thumb

might injure the delicate pages some.

He cautioned his children to touch it not

and it rested there with never a blot

though the Higgins tribe were

a troublesome lot.

His neighbor, Miggins, built a shelf,

"Come children," he said, "and help yourself."

His book is old and ragged and worn,

with some of the choicest pages torn,

where children have fingered

and thumbed and read.

But of the Miggins tribe I've heard it said,

each carries a bible in their head.

Prayer for Trust in Jesus

O Christ Jesus,

when all is darkness

and we feel our weakness and helplessness,

give us the sense of Your presence,

Your love, and Your strength.

Help us to have perfect trust

in Your protecting love

and strengthening power,

so that nothing may frighten or worry us,

for, living close to You,

we shall see Your hand,

Your purpose, Your will through all things.

St. Ignatius of Loyola

Thank you Dear Father, for giving us this glorious day! Thank you, Dear Father, for the many blessings you bring us each day, for food on our table, and shelter over our heads. Thank you for the sunshine, the trees and the beautiful blue sky. Thank you for our friends, family as well, and especially your son Jesus who died for us on the cross.

Father, I come to you today to ask for your blessings, and to pray for my friends both near and far, for Our Country, and Our people, for those who are sick, or ailing, for those who are down for whatever reason, for those who are happy, and for those who are sad after losing loved ones or just leading unsaved lives. I ask you to take their hands and lead them towards you instead of away from you.

Watch over them, protect them, and guide them. I ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Amen!
