Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Let life's lessons grow into wisdom so that you may be the light for someone
else's darkness. Lord, help me put to good use that which today brings so
that I am better prepared for tomorrow.

"He said to them, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest
a while." ~Mark 6:31

I can sometimes go aside into a quiet place of retreat with God. In that
place, I can find restoration and healing and power. I can plan quiet times
now and then, times when I can commune with God and arise rested and
refreshed to carry on the work which God has given me to do.
I know that God will never give me a load greater than I can bear. It is in
serenity and peace that all true success lies.

I pray that I may strengthen my inner life. I pray that my soul may be
restored in quietness and peace.

Greetings to you all, my friends! Hope you all had a great day today! I was very busy on the computer trying hard to find more information on low glycemic foods etc. since Linus was told this morning that he needs to go on that. His chol. was great but his trig was way high! I never heard of this before so right after he got his results he went to Dr. Mike and told him that, and he recommended the Paleo Diet with is that, and so he bought the book today and now I have to read it and study it and try to know what I'm doing! I ask Mary, our Blessed Mother, to help me with the cooking!! So I emailed Lori about this, and tonight she called me to tell me that Cory, my great nephew, and her cousin, is on this diet. He's thin, but he was recommended this for strengthening up his body etc. he heard about it at his gym. So I just heard of this today - it's a low carb thing, I don't know much else yet. I was reading the introduction tonight and it sounds good. It's eating like our ancestors did before all the processed foods came to be. So I'll be reading a lot tomorrow and trying to soak it in my brain. This is just not another diet thing - he was told he had to be on this so that's serious and scary. About the gluten free stuff - I don't know anymore - have to read. My blessings today was the help I got from people on Viewpoints and on the kitchen and food board on giving me direction and helping me learn.
I made some chicken soup for supper - I didn't put carrots in because I read that carrots are high in glycemic - so thought it best to leave them out.

Homily of the Day

You Will Flourish In Ways You Never Dared to Hope!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
2 Tim 1:1-8/ Mk 4:1-20
Going to class reunions can be a disconcerting experience. So often the persons whom we thought would be great successes turned out to be not much of anything in particular. The handsome football star has become a fat, bald couch potato. The homecoming queen is showing the effects of a lifetime of too many cocktails and too many facelifts. The class brain is trapped in a meaningless job he loathes. But on the other hand, that faceless pipsqueak that everybody ignored is now a dot.com millionaire. How did it all happen and why?
Jesus addresses part of that very big question in today’s gospel: Why do some folks grow up and prosper spiritually while others do not? Jesus’ answer is ‘roots.’ The rich inner life that all of us would like just doesn’t happen by accident. It is consciously constructed, and the building starts far beneath the surface, with roots and foundations.
But what exactly are the roots from which a prosperous life of the spirit must grow and draw strength? Nothing less than an unbreakable bonding with the Spirit who has dwelt within us from the first moment of our life. The Spirit is our life source, the inner spring from which flows both wisdom and courage. Detached from the Spirit, we have no hope of prospering, no hope of ever growing into our best selves, no hope of getting a real life.
Bond your heart and your life to the Spirit, experience the liveliness that only the Spirit can give, and watch your life expand and flourish as you never dared to hope.

Seed Thoughts

Within the silent sorrows found in every human heart, among the multitude of joy of which this life has part, are known the secrets of each man by God and self alone, and may be well compared unto a seed which had been sown.
Deep within the ground it lay... A planter put it there
The ground held tight its little seed with hopes that it would bear.
In darkness it was harbored and later brought to light
that the holding of its contents would be kept from human sight.
The pod began to open as the season swiftly passed
The earth pushed forth its hidden grain being manifested at last.
Sprig began to turn to vine... More elaborate it had grown until in fact it reproduced the seed which had been sown thus take note my friend of all the secrets of your being.
For the hidden thoughts of yesterday are the ones today you're seeing plant often good... Cast out the bad and let your garden well be seeded with grains of truth, faith, hope, and love as they surely will be needed.
And the Day will come when all the fruit be gathered in the harvest vine ... The grapes of wrath will be divided then shall we rejoice in harvest song as the reaper takes his part it will all depend upon the thoughts we've planted in the heart.

Mother Teresa Said...

Do I give the Christ who is full of zeal, love, joy, and sunshine?
Do I come up to the mark?
Or am I a dark light, a false light, a bulb without connection,
having no current and therefore shedding no radiance?
Put your heart into being a bright light.

TO EACH HIS OWN

Author Unknown
I cannot change the way I am,
I never really try,
God made me different and unique,
I never ask him why.
If I appear peculiar,
There's nothing I can do,
You must accept me as I am,
As I've accepted you.
God made a casting of each life,
Then threw the mold away,
Each child is different from the rest,
Unlike as night from day.
So often we will criticize,
The things that others do,
But, do you know, they do not think,
The same as me and you.
So God in all his wisdom,
Who knows us all by name,
He didn't want us to be bored,
That's why we're not the same.

Helen Steiner Rice's 10 Commandments

1. Thou shalt be happy.
2. Thou shalt use thy talents to make others glad.
3. Thou shalt rise above defeat and trouble.
4. Thou shalt look upon each day as a new challenge.
5. Thou shalt always do thy best and leave the rest
to God.
6. Thou shalt not waste thy time and energy in
useless worry.
7. Thou shalt look only on the bright side of life.
8. Thou shalt not be afraid of tomorrow.
9. Thou shalt have a kind word and a kind deed for
everyone.
10. Thou shalt say each morning - I am a child of God
and nothing can
hurt me.

MAY YOU ALWAYS FEEL LOVED
Author Unknown
May you find serenity and tranquility in a world you may not always
understand.
May the pain you have known and the conflict you have experienced give
you the strength to walk through life facing each new situation with
optimism and courage.
Always know that there are those whose love and understanding will
always be there, even when you feel most alone.
May you discover enough goodness in others to believe in a world of
peace.
May a kind word, a reassuring touch, a warm smile be yours every day
of your life, and may you give these gifts as well as receive them.
Remember the sunshine when the storm seems unending.
Teach love to those who know hate, and let that love embrace you as
you go into the world.
May the teaching of those you admire become part of you, so that you
may call upon them.
Remember, those whose lives you have touched and who have touched
yours are always a part of you, even if the encounters were less than
you would have wished.
May you not become too concerned with material matters, but instead
place immeasurable value on the goodness in your heart.
Find time in each day to see the beauty and love in the world around
you.
Realize that each person has limitless abilities, but each of us is
different in our own way.
What you may feel you lack in one regard may be more than compensated
for in another.
What you feel you lack in the present may become one of your strengths
in the future.
May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility.
Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience.
May you find enough inner strength to determine your own worth by
yourself, and not be dependent on an other's judgments of your
accomplishments.
May you always feel loved.

HOW TO KNOW 100% FOR SURE YOU ARE GOING TO HEAVEN
Author Unknown
In one minute, in the privacy of your home, it can be explained how
you can know for sure that you will receive the gift of Heaven.
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the
Son of God; that you may know that ye have eternal life" 1 John 5:13
All you have to know are four things
1. God says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of
God." Romans 3:23
2. God says, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and
death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned." Romans 5:12
This is the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The price for
sin is death.
3. God says, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
God loves you very much. He doesn't want you to go to H ell. In fact,
He loves you so much that He sent His Son Jesus to this earth. This is
why Christmas is celebrated. Jesus actually lifted the sins from you
and placed them upon Himself. When Jesus was on the cross His blood
cleansed your sin. He paid the price for your sin, which is death.
They buried Jesus and He arose from the dead. he conquered death and
He conquered sin. This is why Easter is celebrated.
He offers you life.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
Eternal life is a present. You can't get baptized into Heaven; be good
to get into Heaven, pay money to get into Heaven; in fact, you can't
do anything to get into Heaven, except to accept God's gift and trust
Jesus as your only way into Heaven.
4. God says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that who so ever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life." John 3:16
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Romans 10:13
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons
of God..." John 1:12
"... but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord." Romans 6:23
HERE IS HOW YOU CALL UPON THE LORD
Dear Jesus,
Please forgive me of my sins and come into my heart. I trust you
today, Jesus, to lead me through my life. I trust you today, Jesus, to
take me to Heaven. Thank you for your sacrifice for me. Amen
Just as you were physically born to your parents, you are spiritually
born into the Kingdom of God when you call on Jesus.

Closing prayer:

MORNING PRAYER
All through today, O God, help me to be
quick to praise and slow to criticize;
quick to forgive, and slow to condemn;
quick to share and slow to refuse to give.
Grant me all through today
complete control over my temper,
that I may be slow to anger;
complete control over my tongue,
that I may speak no hasty word.
So grant that all through today I may help everyone and
hurt no one, so that I may find true joy in living. Amen.

Good night everyone and sweet dreams to all - may your Thursday be a day of blessings all around!! God Bless You!
