Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

As God's children we have inherited all of His promises. Faith in You,
Lord, refreshes my soul as nothing else can.

Scripture for the day:

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." ~Psalm
119:105

Meditation for the day:

We can walk all the way with God. We need not go part of the way and
then stop. We need not push God so far into the background that God
has no effect on our lives. We can walk all the way with God. We can
make a good companion of God, by praying to God often during the day.
We need not let our contact with God be broken for too long a period.
We can walk all the way with God and with other people, along the path
of life, wherever it may lead us.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may walk in companionship with God along the way. I
pray that I may keep my feet upon the path that leads in the way God
would have me go.

Hello dear friends! Isn't that great that as His children we inherited all
of His promises? I love that and so true! We are having a rainy day -
already an inch today, then it let up some, and now again for the night
another inch or so is predicted, so we don't have to water. All is fine if
it doesn't hail. Tomorrow morning I have a dentist appt. with a new
dentist. Linus went to her and said she is very thorough and he's happy
there, so I'll start and see - said the cleaning doesn't hurt - and that's
good to know. The dentist spends a lot of time with you, where the other
place I went she didn't. But gosh! It's an hour and a half for the
check-up - because she's so thorough and I'm a bit nervous. Don't like those
X-Rays. Sammy also gets his grooming tomorrow morning - and one of Sammy's
blessings is that his teeth seem to be better with him having one greenie a
day. It's good when you can notice improvement. Just saw Darla on
Facebook - that's always a blessing to see her there and what she's doing.
Lori too when she posted while on the trip. Both Linus and I are back on
the diet to slim down more for the Wedding. We went out to eat tonight
because I'm out of things and we need to go grocery shopping tomorrow - and
we went to the Café and we each had a Maple Chicken Salad, it was
delicious - and I hope not too many calories. Filling though, and good for
us. Wish us luck - I want to lose about 10 and he a little more. Oh - one
more blessing for today and that is that he saw Perry, his friend at Benuza,
that appliance store, and they are talking about Linus working there yet,
two days a week, Mondays and Saturdays, and so he shouldn't give up hope.
We pray he gets a fair wage. God is in charge.

COMING BACK
By Sally I. Kennedy

Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,
rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were
taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

The plant that “would grow anywhere” looked dead as a doornail. The
flowers behind it weren’t looking so good either. Limp and fading,
they appeared to be on their last leg, too. Ironically, the
surrounding weeds were thriving, growing great.

Fading, limp, wilting, or a goner. Have you ever felt this way, in
your spirit, body, or emotions? I’ve been there, and I have learned
the truth of the principle of being rooted in Christ.

This plant was sprayed with an insecticide, but the large dose burned
it. For us, circumstances, relationships, job situations, can batter,
or burn, us pretty good sometimes. That’s life.

On the surface, what is visible, is what I call “in the night”.
Things seem dim, cloudy, even dark. But God is not a God of
confusion. No matter what is going on, He is still sovereign, still
watching over you, and involved in every facet of your life, working
all things out for your good. (Romans 8)

On either side of this burned-out plant are two sturdy, older bushes,
and the roots of the plant have grown deep down into the soil below.
This plant will come back. It will have fuzzy green leaves again. It
will have bold sunny yellow flowers again.

Stay rooted and grounded in Christ. Persevere, no matter what. Hold on
to the hem of Jesus’ robe, to His mighty and powerful name. We will
not only be survivors, but we will flourish.

PERSONAL PRAYER

Jesus, open my eyes to the greatness of your love and to the fickleness of
my response to it.
When sadness or misfortune crushes hope and blinds me to your presence let
me see that you are close.
Help me to carry my cross and keep on saying that God is good; for so indeed
He is.
Comfort all who suffer, especially those who have lost hope, for whom every
new day is a new ordeal. Console them, Lord, and give them hope. Amen.

Patience In Prayer
When the idea is not right, God says, "NO".

No - when the idea is not the best.
No - when the idea is absolutely wrong.
No - when though it may help you,
it would create problems for someone else

When the time is not right, God says, "SLOW".
What a catastrophe it would be if God answered every prayer at the snap of
your fingers.

Do you know what would happen?
God would become your servant, not your master.
Suddenly God would be working for you instead of you working for God.

When you are not right, God says, "GROW."

The selfish person has to grow in unselfishness.
The cautious person must grow in courage.
The timid person must grow in confidence,
The dominating person must grow in sensitivity.
The critical person must grow in tolerance.
The negative person must grow in positive attitudes.
The pleasure-seeking person must grow in compassion for suffering people.

When everything is all right, God says, "GO."

Then miracles happen:

A hopeless alcoholic is set free.
A drug addict finds release.
A doubter becomes a child in his belief.
Diseased tissue responds to treatment, and healing begins.
The door to your dream suddenly swings open and there stands God saying,
"GO!".

Remember: God's delays are not God's denials.
God's timing is perfect.

Patience is what we need in prayer.

Then Why Don't We Pray?

The highest privilege ever afforded to man is the power of prayer...
...then why don't we pray?

The right to talk to the highest potentate in all the universe...
...then why don't we pray?

The most powerful force accessible to man is the potential of prayer...
...then why don't we pray?

The greatest longing in the heart of God is to talk to His children...
...then why don't we pray?

Nothing is impossible to those who pray...
...then why don't we pray?

No man ever fainted or faltered who gave himself to prayer...
...then why don't we pray?

Every sin is forgiven, every stain is washed clean, all guilt diminished to
the man who prays...
...then why don't we pray?

H ell moves farther away, Satan flees from the man who prays...
...then why don't we pray?

Anointing will come, mountains will be moved, valleys made smooth, rivers
made crossable, the inaccessible made accessible, the impossible made
possible, dreams come through to the man who prays...
...then why don't we pray?

Jesus said that men ought always to pray...
...then why don't we pray?

Paul encouraged prayer without ceasing...
...then why don't we pray?

The riches of heaven are open to those who pray in His name...
...then why don't we pray?

Everyone can pray, the young, the old, the rich, the poor, the strong, the
weak, the child, the aged, the sinner, the prisoner, in any nation, in any
language, all can pray...
...then why don't we pray?

Today

Today I smiled, and all at once
things didn't look so bad.
Today I shared with someone else,
a bit of hope I had.
Today I sang a little song,
and felt my heart grow light,
And walked a happy little mile,
with not a cloud in sight.

Today I worked with what I had
and longed for nothing more,
And what had seemed like only weeds,
were flowers at my door.

Today I loved a little more and
complained a little less,
And in the giving of myself,
I forgot my weariness.

THE "OUR FATHER" PRAYER:
Do I Really Mean What I Pray?

Examine how well you live what you pray as you meditate on the
following: I cannot say OUR if I keep my faith only to myself and
never share it with others.

I cannot say FATHER if I do not trust in His loving and complete
concern for me, forgetting that He always answers prayers how and when
He knows is best.

I cannot say WHO ART IN HEAVEN if I am so attached to the ways of
this world that I neglect to seek God first in everything.

I cannot say HALLOWED BE THY NAME if I am unwilling to let His
holiness penetrate my life and help me grow in my own holiness.

I cannot say THY KINGDOM COME if I am not using my life to bring His
love into the world.

I cannot say THY WILL BE DONE if I live by my own ideas of morality
or choose to follow the world's standards.

I cannot say ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN if I am not devoting my life
to serving Him here on earth.

I cannot say GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD if I am not willing to
be generous with whatever God gives me.

I cannot say FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES if I don't want to put forth
enough effort to change.

I cannot say AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US if I still
hold a grudge, if I'm still angry, or if I still insist that other
people change.

I cannot say LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION if I deliberately or
knowingly place myself in a position to be tempted.

I cannot say DELIVER US FROM EVIL if I'm not actively fighting
against evil through deeds of love and service for everyone in my
life, especially those who cause problems.

Have a great Thursday tomorrow - may God surprise you all with special
blessings is my wish for you all! See you then?
