Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Our body is the temple of God and our soul is His image. It is the devil's
work to make us forget that and feel useless, incapable and worthless.
Lord, I will not deny Your existence in me. I am strong and capable
because You live and work through me.

"In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not
so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And
if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take
you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also." ~John
14:2-3

We can look at the world as our Father's house. We can think of all
people we meet as guests in our Fathers house, to be treated with love
and consideration. We can look at ourselves as servants in our
Father's house, as servants of all. We can think of no work as
beneath us. We can be ready to do all we can for others who need our
help. There is gladness in God's service. There is much satisfaction
in serving the highest that we know. We can express our love for God
in service to all
who are living with us in our Father's house.

I pray that I may serve others out of gratitude to God. I pray that
my work may be a small repayment for God's grace so freely given me.

Hi everyone! Peace of Jesus to you all! Hope you all had a good day today. Mine was relaxing - a nap was in order as I was up late last night working on the computer - trying to find stuff etc. etc. Still haven't found everything yet. Enjoyed a phone call from my good friend, Ann, tonight. Otherwise the phone wasn't touched today! Sometimes it's very quiet, most of the time it is. Always enjoy my time with Linus every morning with coffee to start the day which is such a blessing - for each other! He never heard back from the Ins. co. about getting his old job back - and that was surprising! Maybe God wants him to continue on at Northern. He knows what's best for him. Insurance work can be stressful. We are trying to listen to God. Tomorrow is Adoration in our parish - we will go and pray. Maybe go to the Noon Mass at St. Mary's.

Are Your troubles Too Ordinary for God?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark

Heb 2:14-18 / Mk 1:29-39

Are there ever times in your life when you refrain from asking Jesus for healing because you think that your sickness is too ordinary or that your troubles are not great enough for our Lord to come to your aid?

In today’s Gospel, you may identify with the mother-in-law of Peter who lays ill in bed with a fever, while Jesus travels through the town casting out demons and healing those afflicted with horrible diseases. It took the outside insistence of Peter and Andrew to make Jesus aware of the woman’s illness, for she did not seek His healing out on her own.

There may be times in our lives when we may feel unworthy to receive healing. We must consider that Jesus desires our need of Him. He wants to be invited to heal our hurts, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem. Are we inviting Jesus into our hearts and homes to receive the power of His healing grace?

If today you struggle with something you deem not important enough for the Lord, don’t listen to this spirit of weakness. Ask Jesus to heal your smallest affliction, your most ordinary need. And in return, be like the mother-in-law in today’s Gospel, respond immediately with a heart of gratitude and service.

Too Often

Too often we don't realize
what we have until it is gone

Too often we wait too late to say
"I'm sorry - I was wrong."

Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
we hold dearest to our hearts

And we allow foolish things
to tear our lives apart.

Far too many times we let
unimportant things into our minds

And then it's usually too late
to see what made us blind.

So be sure that you let people know
how much they mean to you.

Take that time to say the words
before your time is through.

Be sure that you appreciate
everything you've got

And be thankful for the little things
in Life that mean a lot.

Growing old surrounded by those we love
is a privilege denied to many
Never leave behind regrets.

This dense, fruity cake calls for ingredients by way of scriptural references. Ingredients are grouped for ease of method explanation.

SCRIPTURE CAKE

Makes 8 to 10 servings

Part 1

3/4 cup (180 ml) Psalms 55:21

1 cup (250 ml) Jeremiah 6:20

3 Jeremiah 17:11

1/4 cup (60 ml) Judges 4:19

1 tbsp (15 ml) I Samuel 14:25

Part 2

2 1/4 cups (560 ml.) Leviticus 6:15

1/4 tsp (1 ml) Leviticus 2:13

1 tbsp (15 ml) Amos 4:5

1 tsp (5 ml) II Chronicles 9:9

Part 3

1 cup (250 ml) I Samuel 30:12

1 cup (250 ml) Numbers 13:23

1/2 cup (125 ml) Numbers 17:8

Heat the oven to 350 F (180 C). Lightly coat 4 mini loaf pans with baking spray (a blend of oil and flour).

PART 1:

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the first ingredient until light and creamy. Add the second ingredient and beat until fluffy, about 2 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl after the first minute.

One at a time, add the third ingredient, beating well after each addition. Mix in the fourth and fifth ingredients. Set aside.

PART 2:

In a large mesh strainer or flour sifter, combine the ingredients listed in Part 2. Sift the ingredients together onto a sheet of parchment paper or into a bowl. Reserve 1/4 cup (60 mL) of the mixture.

With the mixer on low, add half of the remaining Part 2 mixture to Part 1. Mix only until thoroughly blended, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the remaining Part 2 mixture and mix until blended to create the batter.

PART 3:

In a medium bowl, combine the Part 3 ingredients. Add the reserved Part 2 mixture and toss to lightly coat. Add this mixture to the batter and use a silicone spatula to gently fold it in.

Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pans, filling them three - quarters full.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted at the centre comes out clean. Cool on a rack for 15 minutes, then remove the cakes from the pans and cool completely before serving. If desired, dust with powdered sugar.
