Hello my friends! Talked to Deil today - Monica's surgery was from 2 to 5 pm today, haven't heard anything yet. She was going to text me, and let me know how it was, and then I could call Deil about it. It was done at the University Hospital in Mpls. MN. as it was a very serious surgery. Still praying. So Deil says yesterday Monica came over, said she's going to put up her Christmas tree, decorate it, and put plastic on the windows in the bathroom because it's cold in there, other years, Deil did it all herself. Please keep Monica in prayer, and I'll give you an update when I get one.
Enthusiasm will be yours if you love God, love people, and love life.
Lord, the nearer I follow Your way, the happier I become.

"I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the
world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the
world!" We can keep an undaunted spirit. We can keep our spirit free
and unconquered. We can be undefeated and untouched by failure and
all its power, by letting our spirit overcome the world. We can rise
above the earth's turmoil into the secret place of perfect peace and
confidence. When a challenge comes to us, we can remember that we have
God's help and nothing can wholly defeat us.
P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y
I pray that I may have confidence and be of good cheer. I pray that I
may not fear the power of failure.
Scripture Reflection by Patrick Carnevale
Today's readings 12/10/14
Is.40:25-31; Ps.103:1-4, 8, 10; Mt.11:28-30
In today's psalm we hear King David encouraging us to never "forget..." or
take for granted "...all the gifts of God" that He has bestowed on us,
especially His Patient Mercy when it comes to dealing with our sinful
nature. Most of us would agree that He really hasn't "dealt with us as our
sins merit", but the sad reality is there are a lot of people who have yet
to experience that "rest from your burdens" Invitation Jesus extends to us
in today's Gospel. There are a lot of people who needlessly "labor" with the
burden of sin that Our Lord offers to free us from, and the main reason
behind that is they believe His Invitation is too good to be true. We can
play a key role in changing their minds by living lives that are
continuously being "renewed" by God's Grace and picking up the pieces of our
own broken lives and not "growing weary or faint" in spite of our personal
failures. Jesus offers us the confidence to do that by promising to "yoke"
Himself along side us as we struggle, giving us the "strength and vigor"
Isaiah speaks about to rise above our sinful nature that only God can give
us. And so the next time someone scoffs and says Jesus' Invitation is too
good to be true the best answer we can give them is a gentle smile and a
life lived that gives witness to the fact that's it's so good it can't help
but be true!
God bless you,
In Jesus - Pat
GOD SAID
If you never felt pain, then how would you know that I'm a Healer?
If you never went through difficulties, how would you know that I'm a
Deliverer?
If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself an overcomer?
If you never felt sadness, how would you know that I'm a Comforter?
If you never made a mistake, how would you know that I'm forgiving?
If you knew it all, how would you know that I will answer your questions?
If you never were in trouble, how would you know that I will come to your
rescue?
If you never were broken, then how would you know that I can make you whole?
If you never had a problem, how would you know that I can solve them?
If you never had any suffering, then how would you know what Jesus went
through?
If you never went through the fire, then how would you become pure?
If I gave you all things, how would you appreciate them?
If I never corrected you, how would you know that I love you?
If you had all power, then how would you learn to depend on me?
If your life was perfect, then what would you need Me for?
THANK YOU, GOD!

Santa's Christmas Prayer
The sleigh was packed,
the reindeer were fed,
But Santa still knelt
by the side of the bed.
"Dear Father," he prayed
"Be with me tonight.
There's much work to do
and my schedule is tight.
I must jump in my sleigh
and streak through the sky,
Knowing full well
that a reindeer can't fly.
I will visit each household
before the first light,
I'll cover the world
and all in one night.
With sleigh bells a-ringing,
I'll land on each roof,
Amid the soft clatter
of each little hoof.
To get in the house
is the difficult part,
So I'll slide down the chimney
of each little heart.
My sack will hold toys
to grant all their wishes.
The supply will be endless
like the loaves and the fishes.
I will fill all the stockings
and not leave a track.
I'll eat every cookie
that's left for my snack.
I can do all these things Lord,
only through You,
I just need your blessing,
then it's easy to do.
All this is to honor
the birth of the One,
That was sent to redeem us,
Your most Holy Son.
So to all of my friends,
lest Your glory I rob,
Please Lord, remind them,
who gave me this job."
Praying Through Exhaustion
Oh Lord, I am so tired. It seems like the lists of to-do's get longer each
day. Help me, dear Jesus. Let me feel your loving arms wrap me tightly in
the warm embrace of your endless love. Teach me to make choices about my
time, to remember what is important this season and to say "NO" whenever my
Yes would take me away from your peace. Fill me with patience, love and a
sense of humor. Remind me of your deep love for me and let the fire of that
love be something I can share with everyone around me.

Hi Harlene! Our prayers have been answered for Monica. She texted me on her way home that the surgery was successful. She can't hear out of that ear now yet because she says it has to heal. She goes back on Jan. 6th to get it hooked up (whatever that means? the implant? They will do both ears, the right one first. She thanks everyone for all the prayers.

Good Morning!
I woke up to at least 7-8 inches of snow outside. It's still snowing, but since it's still not very light out, it's hard to tell how much is falling. I went out to clear the steps and deck, then made the long trek to get the mail. That was an effort just trying to slog through it all! It was worth the walk though, as Harlene's amazing cards were waiting there for me!
Harlene: Your work is so beautiful! Thank you for sending both cards. My next trip to town, I want to find frames for them so they'll stay beautiful. Such an incredible job!
Gloria: So glad the surgery went well! I can't imagine how nice it will be to have hearing restored like that. DH could benefit greatly from hearing aids, but so far has been too stubborn to try them. Can you please email me your address again? I must have deleted it somehow, as I couldn't find it when I looked yesterday.
Juanita: I understand the computer issues completely. Though mine are more of the browser acting up at will. It's just as frustrating, and makes me avoid getting online at times, as I never know how things will be on any given day. Hope you have an easier time with it today,
Bluegrassbaby: Beautiful pictures and sentiments! Do you have plans made for the holidays yet? Ours are very simple. A Christmas eve dinner with our family is how we celebrate. There will be eight of us this time, as my nieces will be coming. We'll have a dinner of fish (haddock), pierogies, one or two veggies, bread or rolls, and some cookies and candies for dessert. We spend a nice evening together exchanging cards and presents, and attend mass on Christmas morning.
Hellos and a hug to all of our other posters! Hope your weather is being cooperative if you have anywhere to go. It's still snowing now, and looks so pretty, but we won't be going anywhere until both our roads and driveway are plowed. I'll finish my cards this morning, and try to get them to the mailbox before the mailman comes. Have a good day, and please be careful if you're out and about in the white stuff! pinky

Pinky I'm so glad you liked the cards.
Counting my blessings and blessings to all.
