Knowing about God and knowing God are very different things.
Lord, may I recognize Your workings in my life so that I may
really know You.
Scripture for the day:
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they
may have life, and have it abundantly." ~John 10:10
Meditation for the day:
We can have life and have it more abundantly--spiritual, mental,
physical, abundant life--joyous, powerful life. These we can have if we
follow the right way. Not all people will accept from God the gift of
an abundant life, a gift held out free to all. Not all people care to
stretch out a hand and take it. God's gift, the richest God has to
offer, is the precious gift of abundant life. People often turn away
from it, reject it, and will have none of it. We need not let this be
true of us.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may hasten to accept the gift of abundant spiritual life.
I pray that I may live the good life to the best of my ability.
Greetings my friends! How was your day today? Mine was restful - I was so
tired, I had to nap in the afternoon, sure felt better afterwards!! Supper
was left-over ham and bean soup, so that was easy! A very nice, ordinary,
but blessed day I received today! Last night later after I had the thread
out, got a nice phone call from Fr. Jerry - he wants to call Sister LaDonna
so I emailed him her phone number. I don't know if he called her today or
not, but she will be pleasantly surprised to hear from him. He is very much
loved in our family - our cousin. I put a thread out on Viewpoints on cell
phones as my daughters are thinking of changing companies. Do you have any
suggestions here? I got some from there, but I don't want to leave you
out.
Sprint costs us with 4 cell phones - family plan about $180 a month. Some
mentioned they love Verison - but in checking that one here, it's way more
expensive.
Anyway, just thought I'd ask.
Ideals
Remember that ideals
are like stars up in the sky,
You can never really reach them,
hanging in the heavens high....
But like the mighty mariner
who sailed the storm-tossed sea,
And used the stars to chart his course
with skill and certainty,
You too can chart your course in life
with high ideals and love,
For high ideals are like the stars
that light the sky above....
You cannot ever reach them,
but lift your heart up high
And your life will be as shining
as the stars up in the sky.

DID JESUS USE A MODEM AT THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT?
Author Unknown
Did Jesus use a modem, At the Sermon on the Mount?
Did He ever try a broadcast fax, To send his message out?
Did the disciples carry beepers, As they went about their route?
Did Jesus use a modem, At the Sermon on the Mount?
Did Paul use a laptop, With lots of RAM and ROM?
Were his letters posted on BBS, At paul.rome.com?
Did the man from Macedonia, Send an e-mail saying "Come?"
Did Paul use a laptop, With lots of RAM and ROM?
Did Moses use a joystick, At the parting of the Sea?
And a satellite guidance tracking system, To show him where to be?
Did he write the law on tablets, Or are they really on CD?
Did Moses use a joystick, At the parting of the Sea?
Did Jesus really die for us, One day upon a tree?
Or was it a hologram, or technical wizardry?
Can you download the live action video clip, To play on your pc?
Did Jesus really die for us, One day upon a tree?
Have the wonders of this modern age, Made you question what is true?
How a single man, in a simple time, Could offer life anew?
How a sinless life, a cruel death, Then a glorious life again,
Could offer more to a desperate world, Than all the inventions of
man?
If in your life, the voice of God, Is sometimes hard to hear.
With other voices calling, His doesn't touch your ear.
Than set aside your laptop and modem, And all your fancy gear.
And open your Bible, open your heart, and let your Father draw near.
CLOSE YOUR EYES

I will not leave you as orphans. -John 14:18
I recently took my mother-in-law to the orthopedic surgeon for an
examination. One of the tests was for her to shut her eyes and try to
walk a few steps. She was aware her balance was off, but she did as
the doctor asked, anyway. She knew that he was asking her to do
something important, and she had confidence that he would catch her when she
began to sway and fall.
Do we act with the same trust and faith in God as she had done with
the doctor? When He asks us to do something we know will be
uncomfortable or scary, are we obedient? Do we have faith that He will
be there to catch us? That He will not let us fall flat on our faces?
That His everlasting arms are big enough to hold us through the
frightening times of life?
I pray we would have that type of an obedient spirit, and have that
much faith. God tells us in the Bible He will never leave or forsake
us- and His promises are true! He has proved them over and over to us,
time and again throughout the ages as well as with me on a personal
level. Thank you, dear Lord, for you promises. Especially the one that
says you will always be with us.
Lord,
Some days as I wake up I remember You
and praise and surrender my day to You.
Then, whatever may happen,
my whole day flows in serenity and inner peace and joy.
Some other days I forget You all day long.
Then, by the end of that day I feel so lonely,
miserable and angry with the world and myself.
Lord, if I remember or forget You, I know that You never forget me.
I live for Your mercy and Your love and hope that I will be as close to You,
as I know Your love wants me to be.
Amen

Isaiah 49:15 - "Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she
bore? Even if a mother should forget her child, I will never forget you."
Praise
Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar
people; that ye should
shew forth the praises of God who hath called you out of darkness into His
marvelous light.
1 Peter 2:9
Your life is a song of praise that rises to God your Father. he revels in
your decision to take
His hand and step out of darkness into light. It's what He has worked so
hard to accomplish.
It's why He sent His Son, Jesus, to live and die and rise again. You are His
trophy, His prize, the
sure and certain reward of His great sacrifice. Each time you say yes to
life, yes to love, yes to
eternal values, you are praising Him.
Your life is a form of praise, but your words of praise are even more
precious to your Heavenly
Father. His Holy Spirit who lives within you carries them straight to His
throne. Why are your
praises so dear to Him? Because, unlike His other creatures, your praises
are not innate. They
are the free expression of you heart. You chose Him when you could have
chosen so many
others. Lift your voice to Him today. It brings Him great Joy.
I will praise You, O Lord with my whole heart.........I will sing praise to
your name O Most High.
Psalm 9:1-2
The Attitude of Three Hairs
There was once a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the
mirror and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today," so she did
and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw she had
only two hairs on her head.
"HMM," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle
today," and she did and she had a grand day.
The next morning she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw she
had only one hair left on her head.
"Well," she said, "Today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony
tail." So she did and it was a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that
there wasn't a single hair on her head.
"YEAH!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"
Remember you may not be able to control what someone says or
does or some of the situations that life throws you, but you can
sure control the way you react.
Good night everyone - enjoy a good night's sleep with sweet dreams - may the
Angels be around you, and may your day tomorrow be filled with God's
blessings.
