Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends! Well, our biggest blessing today was having supper tonight at Ray and Ann's and our wonderful visit later! They are such special people!! Best friends, for sure! I praise and thank our God for blessing us with their friendship! We got about 6 inches more snow overnight - more driveway work for Linus! We sure have a lot of snow here!! Can hardly wait for spring!

If we look to God for guidance, we will not be weighed down by the

circumstances of our life. Lord, free me from the worries that come

to distract me and keep me focused on that which is important.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one

another, and seeing that he answered them well, he asked him, 'Which

commandment is the first of all?' Jesus answered, 'The first is,

'Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the

Lord your God with

all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and

with all your strength.' The second is this, 'You shall love your

neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than

these." ~Mark 12:28-31

To truly desire to do God's will , therein lies happiness for us. We

can start out wanting our own way. We want our wills to be satisfied.

We can take and not give. Gradually, we can find that we are not

happy when we are selfish, so we begin to make allowances for other

peoples' wills. But this again dos not give us full happiness, and we

begin to see that the only way to be truly happy is to try to do God's

will. In these times of meditation, we can seek to get guidance so

that we can find God's will for us.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may subordinate my will to the will of God. I pray that

I may be guided today to find God's will for me.

It was at Cana in Galilee, the first of the signs given by Jesus. He let his

glory be seen, and his disciples believed in Him.

Let Us Pray for Christian Unity

This week (18 - 25 January) is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. God

has been working with the human race down through the centuries, first

through creation and his providence; then through the prophets and holy men

sent to his people Israel. Finally he has spoken through his own Son Jesus,

and continues to do so through his Church. In today´s Mass we are asked to

reflect on this continued presence of God with the human race, and with us

today.

PERSONAL PRAYER

Lord Jesus, you are passionately in love with the human race. You want us

to be aware of the love your Father has for us. Help us to come to a better

understanding of this your immense love.

Help the Church and the human community to appreciate the richness of

talents with which you have enriched them. Your presence in the Eucharist is

the sign and the pledge of this richness. We thank you for your continued

presence with us in word and sacrament.

Increase our devotion to your mother Mary. Once in Cana she told those

asking your help to do whatever you would indicate.May she continue to lead

us to a greater love of you. Amen.

Dear Lord Jesus

As I go about my housework

Let me see each job I do,

As a service for my King

And a way of loving You.

Let me wash away my judgments

Of others right or wrong,

As I wash up the dishes

Place within my heart a song.

As I clean up little fingerprints

And lots of muddy shoes,

May I remember how you cleaned the feet

Of the loved ones you did choose.

As I mend up torn pajamas

And sew a button on,

Show me where I need to mend a breech

That's gone on far too long.

Let me tidy up my thoughts

As I tidy up the toys,

Let me sweep away my fears

Like the dirt from little boys.

May I be just as quick with my forgiveness

As I am with mop and broom,

Sweeping up the clutter

In my heart and living room.

May I rinse out pride and ego

As I rinse the bathtub out,

And while we are at it Lord

Let's take care of anger, hate and doubt.

Please remind me often Lord

That the way I'm called to serve,

Is an honor given me

And not below what I deserve.

You know Lord, as I look

At all the work we need to do,

I think we'd better house clean

At least each day or two.

God's Reason

I don't know how to say it

But somehow it seems to me

That maybe we are stationed,

Where God wants us to be.

That little place we're filling

Is the reason for our birth

And just to do the work we do

He sent us down earth.

If God had wanted otherwise

I'd reckon He'd have made

Each one of us a little different

Of a worse or better grade.

And since God knows and understand

All things of land and sea

I fancy that He placed us here

Just where He wanted us to be.

Sometimes we get to thinking

As our labors we review

That we should like a higher place

With greater things to do.

But we come to the conclusion

When the envying is stilled~

That the post to which God has sent us

Is the post He wanted filled.

And there isn't any service

That we honestly can scorn~

For it may just be the reason

God allowed us to be born.

Meditations by Padre Pio

Let us never oppose the designs of divine providence, which, alternating

joys with tears in the life of the individual and of nations, leads them to

the achievements of our last end. Let us look beyond the appearances of the

hand of man to discover the hidden hand of God.

Gloria, glad you had a good time at your friends. That is a blessing!

We are getting snow now. There is about three inches on the ground and it is 16* right now. Very cold! Spring will be a blessing.

Blessings to all who post here and read. May God bless you all.
