Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends! Here's wishing you all a very blessed Sunday! May God continue to bless you and grant your hearts desires. Today was so busy - I'm so tired! First we volunteered at Church serving people that were at a meeting, Father Mark made 3 different kinds of Lasagna, and were they ever good! He insisted we bring a lot home, so that's a great blessing right there!! Right after that we went to Lori's and canned 30 quarts of tomatoes, some spaghetti sauce and some tomato basil soups, and she made some cabbage soup with Italian sausage in it and canned that too - 8 quarts. Were invited to a fish fry across the street from her, we went there for a break in canning and finished later. These tomatoes came from the farm - Linus' brother's farm. They had planted 40 plants this year and had many to share. We canned more than we ever did before this year! It should be easier on the grocery bills during the year. So we're counting our blessings!

To know someone doesn't mean to know every detail of that
person's life. It means to feel affection, confidence and to
believe in that person. Lord, may I really know You and have
it reflect in how I treat others.

Scripture for the day:

"He has said, 'I will never leave you or forsake you.' So we can say
with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can
anyone do to me?'" ~Hebrews 13:5-6

Meditation for the day:

"I will never leave you or forsake you." Down through the centuries,
thousands have believed in God's constancy, tirelessness, and unfailing
love. God has love. Then forever we can be sure of God's love. God
has power. Then forever we can be sure;, in every difficulty and
temptation, of God's strength. God has patience. Then always there is
one who can never tire. God has understanding. Then always we can
understand and be understood. Unless we want God to go, God will never
leave us. God is always ready with the strength and power we need.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may feel that God's love will never fail. I pray that I
may have confidence in God's unfailing power.

Prayer for Someone Special
May the grace and blessing of the Sacred Heart be with you,

The peace of the Sacred Heart encompass You;

The merits of the Sacred Heart plead for you;

The love of the Sacred Heart inflame you;

The sorrows of the Sacred Heart console you;

The zeal of the Sacred Heart animate you;

The virtues of the Sacred Heart shine forth in your word and work;

And may the joys of the beatific vision be your eternal reward. Ame

The Perfect Delivery

A number of months ago, my wife and I learned of the tragic story about a
young man, 26 years of age with a wife and two young children, who had
unexpectedly died while at work. This man of faith, whom I had the
pleasure of speaking with twice, turned out to be the younger brother of our
current next-door neighbor.
Although my wife and I knew very little about our neighbor, we did know her
to be part of a very tight-knit, loving family. No doubt her loss was a
difficult one. Of course, my wife and I had offered our sympathy
and support, in the way of food and cards; however, time had passed since
news of the loss, and we had not seen my neighbor in quite some time.

Last night, I saw our neighbor entering her house, and I began to think how
difficult the loss must be now that all of the cards and words of
encouragement have slowed or ceases. I felt a strong need to make contact
with her and offer further comfort, but I did not quite know how. It all
seemed so awkward.
So, on a whim, I said a prayer.
"God, I am sorry I have not fully offered and shown the compassion and
support to my neighbor which you offer and show to me each and every day.
God, I am not quite sure how to make contact with my neighbor,
since we have not spoken in a while. Please encourage me to overcome this
awkwardness and provide for me a way to approach her."

The next day, I went to check our mailbox. In the mailbox was a small
package, but it was not addressed to my wife or me. The address was not even
the address to our home. I was amazed when I studied the label.
The name and address was that of my neighbor. My neighbor's mail had been
placed into our mailbox.
Through the eyes of the world. this may be called a simple error. But
through the eyes of faith this was another perfect delivery from God. So
now, I hold this package in my hand, and I hold assurance in my
heart that God answers prayer. And more importantly, I know where I am
going. I am heading out the door to visit my neighbor, to offer her God's
comfort... and her mail.

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything
according to His will, he hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever
we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.” 1 1 John 5: 14-15.

THINGS TO FORGET

Forget each kindness that you do,
As soon as you have done it.
Forget the praise that falls to you,
The moment you have won it.

Forget the slander that you hear,
Before you can repeat it.
Forget each slight, each spite, each sneer,
Whenever you may meet it.

Remember every promise made,
And keep it to the letter.
Remember those who lend you aid,
And be a grateful debtor.

Remember all the happiness
That comes your way in living.
Forget each worry and distress,
Be hopeful and forgiving.

Remember good, remember truth,
Remember heaven is above you.
And you will find, through age and youth,
That many will come to love you.

45 LESSONS OF LIFE
By Regina Brett

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland,
Ohio
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught
me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer
rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone...
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and
parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first pay cheque.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their
journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God
never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one
is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no
for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie.
Don't save it for a special occasion, Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important s2x organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years,
will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you
did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,
we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."
