Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Be inspired to try something new and much of what you dream can
become your life. Lord, thank you for giving me the freedom of choice,
and grant me the courage to experience my opportunities and create
new ones.

Scripture for the day:

"There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every
affair under the heavens." ~Ecclesiastes 3:1

Meditation for the day:

There is a time for everything. We can learn to wait patiently until
the right time comes. Easy does it. We can waste our energies in
trying to get things before we are ready to have them, before we have
earned the right to receive them. A great lesson we have to learn is
how to wait with patience. We can believe that all our life is a
preparation for something better to come when we have earned the right
to it. We can believe that God has a plan for our lives and that this
plan will work out in the
fullness of time.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may learn the lesson of waiting patiently. I pray that
I may not expect things until I have earned the right to have them.

Hello my friends! Today has been a nice, warm day - the rain last night
made everything look so fresh and green! God's wonderful gift to us! My
blessing today was a call from my long, lost friend, Dani, remember when I
asked for prayers for her because I couldn't contact her? We talked about
that and how I asked for prayers so I could find her again and she found me
on Facebook! Praise the Lord, we are back being good friends again!
Prayers work wonders. I know her 13 years already - a good online friend I
met on a list I was on. Today so far has been many blessings for me - not
only her phone call, but also a phone call from Lori - she called from Okla.
heading for the Ozarks, and I'm awaiting her call when they are leaving
there and onward to Texas. It was so nice hearing from her, and that Darla
is doing fine - good thing she had those adjustments from the chiro while
she was here. He found that she had a tilted pelvis and was treating her.
Also Lori's Seminar was on the pelvis so she treated her with that too.
Just got a call from Lori now - they are at the Ozarks, but no mountains
yet, maybe they are further in, and maybe they don't want to drive that far,
but right now they are at a winery and outside, enjoying it. Anyway, I told
her to call me later then. I even said,"Don't you wish I was with you?"
I'm sure not, but she said, "Sure". I miss them so much knowing they are so
far. Please keep praying for their safety.

A PRAYER TO OUR LADY FOR HEALING

Mary Immaculate, you have given yourself to us as our Lady of the Miraculous
Medal. You have asked us to pray with confidence, and we will receive great
graces. We know your compassion, because you saw your Son suffer and die for
us. In your union with his suffering you became the mother of us all.
Mary, my mother, teach me to understand my suffering as you do and to endure
it in union with the suffering of Jesus. In your motherly love, calm my
fears and increase my trust in God's loving care.

According to God's plan, obtain for me the healing I need. Intercede with
your Son that I may have the strength I need to work for God's glory and the
salvation of the world. Amen.

When I said

When I said to the Lord "I am so short of where you want me to be."
He gently answered "That's okay. That's all the farther you and I can
walk together."

When I said to the Lord "I don't know who I am."
He gently answered "That's okay. I know who you are."

When I said to the Lord "I am so tired of fighting."
He gently answered "That's okay. Satan is down for the count."

When I said to the Lord "My actions aren't reflecting my heart."
He gently answered "That's okay. Mine did."

When I said to the Lord "My mind is corrupted."
He gently answered "That's okay. Use mine for awhile."

When I said to the Lord "I don't know how to love."
He gently answered "That's okay. I will give you free lessons"

The Lord will not abandon his people. (Ps 94)

God, our Creator, we have those moments in life where we sometimes feel like
you have abandoned us. Yet, we know you are with us always, until the end
of time. Help us to value the gifts that are all-around us, to share the
fruits of your presence with those we meet and to share the wonders of your
creation with our brothers and sisters. We ask this through our Lord Jesus
Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one
God, forever and ever. Amen

Jesus Help Me

Jesus Help me. In every need let me come to you with a humble trust saying,
Jesus help me. In all my doubts, perplexities and temptations, Jesus help
me. In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials, Jesus help me. In failure
of my plans and hopes, in disappointments, troubles and sorrows, Jesus help
me.

When others fail me and your grace alone can assist me, Jesus help me. When
I throw myself on your tender love, as my Lord and Savior, Jesus help me.
When my heart is cast down by failure at seeing no good coming from my
efforts, Jesus help me.

When I am ill and my head and hands cannot work and I am lonely, Jesus help
me. Always, Always, in spite of weariness, falls and shortcomings of every
kind, Jesus help me and never forsake me.

Almighty Lord, before you I come with all my faith, begging you for comfort
in my difficulties. Do not forsake me, My Lord. Open your doors, that your
almighty arms will open and close as you design to give that tranquility
that I so desire.

Oh my God! Receive my supplication from a wounded heart that is always
fighting for me with your Divine power. Never let me scramble for want of
help.

Almighty Lord, assist me to find shelter in your celestial bounty forever.

Amen.

THE ROSE
Author Unknown
October 29, 2009

Red roses were her favorites,

Her name was also Rose,

And every year her husband sent them,

tied with pretty bows.

The year he died,

the roses were delivered to her door.

The card said, "Be my Valentine,"

like all the years before.

Each year he sent her roses,

and the note would always say,

"I love you even more this year,

than last year on this day.

My love for you will always grow,

with every passing year."

She knew this was the last time

that the roses would appear.

She thought, he ordered roses

in advance before this day.

Her loving husband did not know,

that he would pass away.

He always liked things early,

way before the time.

Then if he got too busy,

everything would work out fine.

She trimmed the stems,

and placed them in a very special vase.

Then, sat the vase

beside the portrait of his smiling face.

She would sit for hours,

in her husband's favorite chair.

While staring at his picture,

and the roses sitting there.

A year went by,

and it was hard to live without her mate.

With loneliness and solitude,

that had become her fate.

Then that very hour,

as on Valentine's before,

The doorbell rang, and there were roses,

sitting by her door.

She brought the roses in,

and just looked at them in shock.

Then, she went to get the telephone,

to call the florist shop.

The owner answered, and she asked him,

if he would explain,

Why would someone do this to her,

causing her such pain?

"I know your husband passed away,

more than a year ago,"

The owner said, "I knew you'd call,

and you would want to know.

The flowers you received today,

were paid for in advance,

your husband always planned ahead,

he left nothing to chance.

There is a standing order,

that I have on file down here,

as he has paid, well in advance,

you'll get them every year.

There is also another thing,

that I think you should know,

He wrote a special little card...he did this years ago,

Then should I find out that he's no longer here,

That's the card...that should be sent to you the following year."

She thanked him and hung up the phone,

her tears now flowing hard.

Her fingers shaking, as she slowly

reached to get the card.

Inside the card, she saw that he

had written her a note.

Then, as she stared in total silence,

this is what he wrote...

"Hello my love, I know

it's been a year since I've been gone,

I hope it hasn't been too hard

for you to overcome.

I know it must be lonely,

and the pain is very real.

Or if it was the other way,

I know how I would feel.

The love we shared made everything

so beautiful in life,

I loved you more than words can say,

you were the perfect wife.

You were my friend and lover,

you fulfilled my every need.

I know it's only been a year,

but please try not to grieve.

I want you to be happy,

even when you shed your tears.

That is why the roses

will be sent to you for years.

When you get these roses,

think of all the happiness,

that we had together,

and how both of us were blessed.

I have always loved you,

and you know I always will.

But my love, you must go on,

you have some living still.

Please... try to find happiness,

while living out your days.

I know it is not easy,

but I hope you find some ways.

The roses will come every year,

and they will only stop,

When your door's not answered,

when the florist stops to knock.

He will come five times that day,

in case you have gone out.

But after his last visit,

he will know without a doubt.

To take the roses to the place,

where I've instructed him.

And place them where we are,

together once again.

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;

Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.

Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;

Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world.

Someone who convinces you that there really is
an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.

This is forever friendship.

A SOLDIER'S PLAYING CARDS

"Friends, this is Tex Ritter with a strange story about a soldier boy and a
deck of cards.

During the North African Campaign, a bunch of soldier boys had been on a
long hike and they arrived in a little town called "Casino." The next
morning being Sunday, several of the boys went to church. A sergeant
commanded the boys in church, and after the Chaplain had read the prayer,
the text was taken up next. Those of the boys who had a prayerbook took them
out; but this one boy only had a deck of cards and so he spread them out.
The Sergeant saw those cards and said, "Soldier, put away those cards!"

After the services were over, the soldier was taken prisoner and taken
before the Provost Marshal. The Marshal asked, "Sergeant, why have you
brought this man here?" "For playing cards in church, sir." "And what have
you to say for yourself, son?" "Much, sir," replied the soldier. The
Marshall said, "I hope so, for if not, I shall punish you more than if any
man was ever punished."

The soldier said, "Sir, I have been on a march for about six days and had
neither bible nor prayer book, but I hope to satisfy you sir, with the
purity of my intentions". With that, the boy started his story:

You see, sir, when I look at the Ace, it reminds me that there is but one
God. And the duce reminds me that the Bible is divided into two parts, the
Old and the New Testament. And when I see the trey, I think of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

When I see the four, I think of the four evangelists who preached the four
gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And when I see the five it reminds
me of the five wise virgins who trimmed their lamps; there was ten of them:
five were wise and were saved; five were foolish and were shut out.

And when I see the six, it reminds me that in six days God created this
great Heaven and earth, and when I see the seven it reminds me that on the
seventh day God rested from his great work. When I see the eight, I think of
the eight righteous persons God saved when He destroyed the earth: there was
Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their wives.

And when I see the nine, I think of the lepers our Savior cleansed, and nine
of the ten didn't even thank Him. When I see the ten, I think of the ten
commandments God handed down to Moses on a table of stone. When I see the
king, it reminds me that there is but one King of Heaven.God Almighty. And
when I see the queen, I think of the Blessed Virgin Mary who is Queen of
Heaven. And the Jack, or nave, is the Devil.

When I count the numbers of spots on a deck of cards I find three-hundred
sixty five, the number of days in a year. There are fifty two cards, the
number of weeks in a year. There are four suits, the number of weeks in a
month, there are twelve picture cards, the number of months in a year.
There's thirteen tricks, the number of weeks in a quarter.

So you see, sir, my pack of cards serves me as a Bible, almanac, and prayer
book. And friends, I know this story is true, because I was that soldier.

~Tex Ritter

Morning Prayer
I lift my heart to you, O Lord,
to be strengthened for this day.
Be with me in all I do, my God;
guide me in all my ways.

I will carry some burdens today;
some trials will be mine.
So I wait for your help, Lord,
lest I stumble and fall.

I will do my work, Father,
the work begun by your Son.
He lives in me and I in him;
may his work today be done.

Dear Friend,

There are many people in the world today that feel alone and wish there was
someone they can talk to and who understands them. The good news is I know
of such a person. His name is Jesus Christ and He wishes to spend time
with everyone who calls upon His name. God knows you so well, the Bible
says in Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before
you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
Never think you are alone or that nobody cares about you for the Bible
declares that Jesus is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Simply
call upon His name and He will be there to answer. (Rev. 3:20) (Prov. 18:24)

I hope you will be encouraged by this message that shows when we get
frustrated with life's problems and don't know what else to do, we can
call upon our Heavenly Father and ask Him to hold and comfort us. Allow
this message to speak to your heart if you are going through some tough
situations and remember that God is only a prayer and call away from where
you are right now. (Psalm 55:16-18) (Psalm 91:14-16)

DAD'S HELPER

A little boy was helping his father move some books out of an attic into
more spacious quarters downstairs. It was important to this little boy
that he was helping his dad, even though he was probably getting in the way
and slowing things down more than he was actually assisting. But that boy
had a wise and patient father who knew it was more important to work at a
task with his young son than it was to move a pile of books efficiently.

Among this man's books, however, were some rather large study books, and it
was a chore for the boy to get them down the stairs. As a matter of fact,
on one particular load, the boy dropped his pile of books several times.
Finally, he sat down on the stairs and wept in frustration. He wasn't
doing any good at all. He wasn't strong enough to carry the big books down
a narrow stairway. It hurt him to think he couldn't do this for his daddy.

Without a word, the father picked up the dropped load of books, put them
into the boy's arms, and scooped up both the boy and the books into his
arms and carried them down the stairs. And so they continued load after
load, both very much enjoying each other's company. The boy carrying the
books, and the dad carrying the boy.
