Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Prayer helps us see that God is not the cause of unpleasant happenings, but
the healing of them. Lord, I trust in You for the right outcomes in all
situations.

Scripture for the day:

"My vows to you I must perform, O God; I will render thank offerings to you.
For you have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from falling, so that
I may walk before God in the light of life." ~Psalm 56:12-13

Meditation for the day:

I will never forget to say thank you to God, even on the grayest days. My
attitude can be one of humility and gratitude. Saying thank you to God is a
daily practice that is absolutely necessary. If a day is not one of
thankfulness, the practice has to be repeated until it becomes so. Gratitude
is a necessity for those who seek to live a better life.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that gratitude will bring humility. I pray that humility will bring
me to live a better life.

Peace to you all! Again, our weather is perfect and another record breaker
for MN! I remember when my Mom died in '65 - big snow storm the day before
she died, which was March 1st and again another big one on St. Pat's day.
To think of all that snow then and now there is no snow and warm temps like
later in the spring - we are already using our patio - it is so nice and
peaceful there, great for prayertimes. Our plants are out there enjoying
the sun - it's just amazing - this weather! So I praise and thank God for
these wonderful, gorgeous days He's giving us. We need rain, and the
forecast is for rain, thunder showers Monday and Tuesday. My DH worked
all day today - came home and wanted to go to the café so we did, I had
chicken out, but put it in the fridge for tomorrow then. I called for a
reservation, could get in right away so we did. We come there, and are
greeted by waiters etc. and seated and the waitress we had said she'll tell
Jim we're there. Then Jim comes and sits with us for awhile, and we have a
great visit like always. He even told us we are special friends to him.
See why this is our favorite place to eat?
I just had a wonderful mushroom bisque soup and their chicken oriental salad
with coffee, and took half the salad home. They have the best coffee! The
piano player was playing old tunes of years gone by that we recognized and
love! Nice, soothing music. Lots of blessings today! Hope you do too.

Prayer for the third week of Lent:

God of Mercy and Understanding,
I know that with help
I can open my heart more fully
to the mysteries of the suffering and death
of your son.
Help me to be humble in this journey
and remember that any mercy and compassion I feel
is a gift from you.
I await the joy of Easter with new longing and patience.

Daily Bread

When the famous nun, Mother Cabrini, arrived in America in 1900 to work
among the downtrodden Italian immigrants, she was penniless.

A countess came to her help and offered her a large house to be used as a
convent and home for homeless children.

Archbishop Corrigan of New York City did not believe in the whole idea, even
though the countess had also given thousands of dollars to support it. "So
what?" he skeptically asked. "How long do you think that money will last?
Within a year it will all be gone. And then what?"

But the countess answered, "Your Grace, when we pray, we ask for our DAILY
bread, not bread for a year."

Mother Teresa Said...
Trust in the good God who loves us, who cares for us, who sees all, knows
all, can do all things for my good and the good of souls. One thing Jesus
asks of me: that I lean upon Him; that in Him alone I put complete trust;
that I surrender myself to Him unreservedly. Love Jesus with a big heart.
Serve Jesus with joy and gladness of spirit, casting aside and forgetting
all that troubles and worries you.

You Shall Not Want

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
To the lost sheep, He is the seeking Shepherd;
To the needy sheep, He is the providing Shepherd;
To the hurting sheep, He is the comforting Shepherd;
To the bruised sheep, He is the healing Shepherd;
To the anxious sheep, He is the peaceful Shepherd;
To the wandering sheep, He is the guiding Shepherd;
To the fearful sheep, He is the protecting Shepherd;
To the lame sheep, He is the carrying Shepherd;
To the discontented sheep, He is the fulfilling Shepherd;
To the parched sheep, He is the anointing Shepherd;
To the timid sheep, He is the reassuring Shepherd;
To the fallen sheep, He is the merciful Shepherd;
To the nervous sheep, He is the quieting Shepherd;
To the heavy laden sheep, He is the restful Shepherd;
To the lonely sheep, He is the ever-present Shepherd;
To the weary sheep, He is the restoring Shepherd;
To all His sheep, He is the Good Shepherd.

BEATITUDES OF MARRIAGE
Author Unknown

Blessed are the husband and wife who continue to be affectionate,
considerate, and loving after the wedding bells have ceased ringing.

Blessed are the husband and wife who are as polite and courteous to
one another as they are to their friends.

Blessed are they who love their mates more than any other person in
the world, and who joyfully fulfill their marriage vow of a lifetime of
fidelity and mutual helpfulness to one another.

Blessed are they who attain parenthood, for children are a heritage of
the Lord.

Blessed are they who remember to thank God for their food before they
partake of it, and who set apart some time each day for the reading of
the Bible and for prayer.

Blessed are those mates who never speak loudly to one another, and who
make their home a place "where seldom is heard a discouraging word."

Blessed are the husband and wife who faithfully attend the worship
service of the church, and who work together in the church for the
advancement
of Christ's kingdom.

Blessed are the husband and wife who can work out the problems of
adjustment without interference from relatives.

Blessed is the couple which has complete understanding about financial
matters, and have worked out a perfect partnership, with all money
under the control of both.

Blessed are the husband and wife who humbly dedicate their lives and
their homes to Christ, and who practice the teachings of Christ in the home
by being unselfish, loyal and loving.

Soul Food

I love the taste of T-bone steak,
Delicious every bite,
But there's nothing like the Word of God,
For my spiritual appetite.

The Word of God has milk and meat,
And even ice cream and cake.
Take a slice of the Bread of Life,
And coffee to keep us awake.

Open your Bible and turn to Psalms,
For David's famous buffet.
You can drink all the wine of the word you want,
And still feel fine the next day.

There's enough of the Word for everyone,
And no one has to cheat.
The Word of God is a smorgasbord,
So take all you are able to eat.

Let's have a little long suffering,
Job gives the recipe.
Patience is the main ingredient,
Self denial is the fee.

Wrap that up in temperance,
It may not make much sense,
Cover that with contentment,
Then add some joy for strength.

Let's have love for dessert,
Jesus made this dish,
Cream of joy and peace together,
Sift out all selfishness.

Add some deeds of righteousness,
Enough to make it sweet.
Humility is the frosting,
That makes the dish complete.

Or are you on a diet,
Cause the race seems hard to run.
For a weight losing menu,
try Hebrews 12 and 1.

Are you suffering from malnutrition,
And don't know what to do?
Your spiritual growth seems hindered,
Try I Peter 2 and 2.

If when every time you battle,
The enemy always wins,
Try some Holy Ghost Protein,
And spiritual vitamins.

God's Word can feed millions,
And still have plenty left.
Because the Word of God is Soul Food,
Sent from the World's Greatest CHEF.
