Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends! Hope you all had a good Saturday today - and stayed positive in all you do! Sometimes it's a struggle to do so, but oh, so worth it! Today's blessings - big batch of pork roast with celery, onion, potatoes and carrots and it was delicious and lots left over!!! Praise God for the food we have! Praise God for the stoves - it all cooked on top of the stove. For all we do in preparation for a good meal, thanks be to God for creating the man who invented electricity! So many every day blessings we take for granted, right? I got a blessing letter today from Sister Connie in South Africa who's on my list, and she wanted me to know that the magazine she's editor for which is for teenagers, is called "Speak Out" she is using a lot of my list that is being sent to her and that is on this thread. She even emailed me the magazine for me to look through on line, and see how she puts my list into it. What a blessing!! There is also a priest in South Africa who signed up for everything I send on my list and he says he uses it there too! All Blessings from God! Praise and Thanksgiving to Him Who the credit is due. Just want to share that with you, because that makes today a little more than ordinary.

When your burden seems heavier than usual, know that your blessings
are more than usual. Lord, I call on you for the strength, the wisdom
and the confidence that I will need today.
Scripture for the day:

"When they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried
out; for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to
them and said, 'Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.'" ~Mark 6:49-50

Meditation for the day:

I can take the most crowded day without fear. I believe that God is with me
and controlling all. I can let confidence be the motif running through all
the crowded day. I need not be worried, because I know that God is my
helper. Underneath are the everlasting arms of God. I can rest in them,
even though the day be full of things crowding in upon me.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be calm and let nothing upset me. I pray that I may not
let material things control me and choke out spiritual things.
WHY GO TO CHURCH?
A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me I can't remember a single one of them. So I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me those meals, I would be physically dead today.
Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

Dear Lord Jesus,
It's so easy to get caught up in our busy lives. Help us to stop and reflect on Your love for us. When things seem to become too much, let me think of You and have be patient. Thank you for all you have done for me and all you will do. Amen

Acts 20:7 - And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them...

You Are Very Special

In all the world there is nobody, nobody like you. Since the beginning of time there has never been another person like you. Nobody has your smile, your eyes, your hands, your hair. Nobody owns your handwriting, your voice. You're Special.

Nobody can paint your brush strokes. Nobody has your taste for food or music or dance or art. Nobody in the universe sees things as you do. In all time there has never been anyone who laughs in exactly your way, and what makes you laugh or cry or think may have a totally different response in another. So - You're Special.

You're different from any other person who has ever lived in the history of the universe. You are the only one in the whole creation who has your particular set of abilities. There is always someone who is better at one thing or another. Every person is your superior in at least one way. Nobody in the universe can reach the quality of the combination of your talents, your feelings. Like a roomful of musical instruments some might excel in one way of another but nobody can match the symphonic sound when all are played together. Your Symphony. Through all eternity no one will ever walk, talk, think or do exactly like you. You're Special.

You're rare and in all rarity there is enormous value. You're Special and it is no accident you are. Please realise that God made you for a special purpose. He has a job for you to do that nobody else can do as well as you can. Out of the billions of applicants only one is qualified. Only one has the unique and right combination of what it takes and that one is you. You're Special!

January 24

My Peace is the treasure of treasures: the pearl of great price. It is an exquisitely costly gift, both for the Giver and the receiver. I purchased this Peace for you with My blood. You receive this gift by trusting Me in the midst of life’s storms. If you have the world’s peace—everything going your way—you don’t seek My unfathomable Peace. Thank Me when things do not go your way, because spiritual blessings come wrapped in trials. Adverse circumstances are normal in a fallen world. Expect them each day. Rejoice in the face of hardship, for I have overcome the world.

Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
—Matthew 13:46 nkjv

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.
—James 1:2

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
—John 16:33 - From Jesus Calling

Through Me

Through me let there be kind words, a warm smile,
and a caring heart.

Through me let there be a willingness to listen
and a readiness to understand.
Through me let there be dependability, steadfastness,
trust and loyalty.
Through me let there be compassion, forgiveness,
mercy and love.
Through me let there be every quality I find,
O Lord, in Thee.

Today the church celebrates the life of one of my favorite saints, St.Francis deSales, one of the great Doctors of the Church whose teachings have had a powerful impact on the way I try to live my life. In his timeless book "The Introduction to the Devout Life" he encourages all of us to begin and end each day with an offering of our intentions and an examination of our consciences. The word "conscience" is defined as "a complex of ethical and moral principles that control and inhibit the thoughts and actions of an individual", and the truth is I can think of no one better to be controlled or inhibited by than the Spirit of Christ within us. We all know the world tries to take control of our thoughts and actions every day, that's why I believe St.Francis' morning and evening exercises are so important in confirming the Spirit of Christ as our moral compass. The Catechism confirms our saint's teachings by telling us that the very dignity of a person hinges on one's conscience (1780-1782; 1798), something scripture tells us can only be "cleansed" by faith in the "once and for all sacrifice of Jesus" and an open and honest relationship with both Him and ourselves. And so on his feast day I would encourage everyone to begin and end each day the way St.Francis encourages us to do by offering our good intentions to Jesus each morning, relying on His Grace to help us fulfill them, and then entrusting all our successes and failures to His Sacred Heart before we close our eyes in the evening.
God bless you,
In Jesus - Pat

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

It's snowing here right now. 3 to 5 inches is all we plan on according to the forecaster. We are to get lots more snow tomorrow.

Blessings to all. May God answer all your prayers.

Hello Bobbisue~

We have stayed up (Sunday night) to understand exactly if we are or if we are not getting snow our way. My husband has to be out driving, to his place of business for over 25 minutes. It is about 1 inch of snow, but there is more rain to come which will turn to ice...plus the snow. I do not 'think' that the pattern of snow & blizzard conditons will affect us,............at this time, (??) Please be calm and know, Bobbisue that you will be in our thoughts. When you said 5 inches of snow now and more to come... always makes me wonder about electric lines coming down. Heat too -staying on- would be my concern.

I have friends living in the greater north east and definitely will be going through, what the weather forecasters are predicting...3 ft. of snow/blizzard conditions. THAT'S FARTHER NORTH WHEN I MENTIONED THE 3 FT.

~~~~~~~Everyone please pray for their safety~~~~~~~
The worse that these areas have ever seen. Worse than last year? I have no idea. The worse that I have seen on tv, in 'those areas, was in November of 2013, I believe. People were actully snowed in!
Some poster have commented on the rush of grocery shopping before this begins. That was the case -BEFORE- without any warning, if I am remembering correctly. I am having all of the north easterners in my prayers, along with [ALL] that have to be out, for different reason. Sometime every one cannot stay in. Stay Warm -Stay Safe!
I DO KEEP rac71 in my prayers for her dear mother, who is in CCU- FROM ICU, on the floor'S UNIT, now, at their local hospital. She has been through a stressful ordeal. Both!
lovingly, _Naes
