Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

What we endure in this life is nothing compared to the glory that God
has in store for us in heaven. Lord, take every moment of my life as a
prayer to praise and glorify Your holy name.

Scripture for the day:

"You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of
joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore." ~Psalm 16:11

Meditation for the day:

There are two paths, one up and one down. We have been given free
will to choose either path. We are captains of our souls to this
extent only. We can choose the good or the bad. Once we have chosen
the wrong path, we go down and down, eventually to death. But if we
choose the right path, we can go up and up, until we come to the
resurrection day. On the wrong path, we have no power for good
because we do not choose to ask for it. But on the right path, we are
on the side of good and we have all the power of God's spirit behind
us.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be in the stream of goodness. I pray that I may be
on the right side, on the side of all good in the universe.

Peace of Jesus to you all! Hope your Saturday was all you hoped it would be.
Weather was in the 70's - and it rained some parts of the day. Today I used
my new phone and called my sister, and my friend, and it give very good
reception and no drop calls - at least not today. I like the larger
numbers. I also like two different rings, for those not on my contacts it's
the plain ring, for those that are, it's a nice sounding one. Interesting
how they can do that. It was a blessing today that Lori came home to put my
usual numbers in speed dial and put the nice ring to it. I just don't know
how to do it. Hoping your Sunday will be much blessed.

The Place of my Soul

Help me today, dear Lord, to concentrate on my soul.
Help me to know where it is in me—
and where it is going in the future.
Allow me to find my soul and lift it up to you.

from Catholic Mom 24/7: Daily Meditations for Busy Mothers

Invocation of the Blessed Virgin in Time of Temptation

Haste, my Mother, run to help me;
Mother, haste, do not delay;
See from H ell the envious serpent
Comes my troubling soul to slay.
Ah! his very look affrights me,
And his cruel rage I fear;
Whither fly, if he attacks me?
See him, see him coming near!
Lo! I faint away with terror,
For if yet thou dost delay,
He will dart at me his venom;
Then, alas! I am his prey.

Cries and tears have nought availed me,
Spite of all, I see him there;
Saints I call till I am weary,
Still he stands with threat'ning air.
Now his mighty jaws are open,
And his forked tongue I see;
Ah! he coils to spring upon me.
-----Mother! hasten, make him flee.
Mary! yes, the name of Mary
Strikes with dread my cruel foe,
Straight he flees, as from the sunbeam
Swiftly melts the winter's snow.
Now he's gone, but do thou ever
Stay beside me, Mother dear;
Then the hellish fiend to tempt me
Nevermore will venture near.

IT'S IN YOUR FACE
Author Unknown

You don't have to tell how you live each day,
You don't have to say if you work or play,
A tried, true barometer serves in the place;
however you live, it will show in your face.

The false, the deceit you bear in your heart
Will not stay inside, where it first got a start.
For sin and blood are a thin veil of lace;
what you wear in your heart you wear in your face.

If your life is unselfish,
if for others you live,
for not what you get,
but for how much you can give;

If you live close to God,
in His infinite grace,
you don't have to tell it,
it shows in your face.

Your daily reading from
St. Faustina's diary

August 13

October 2, 1936, the First Friday of the month. After Holy Communion, I
suddenly saw the Lord Jesus, who spoke these words to me: Now I know that it
is not for the graces or gifts that you love me, but because My will is
dearer to you than life. That is why I am uniting myself with you so
intimately as with no other creature. (707)

At that moment, Jesus disappeared. My soul was filled with the presence of
God. I know that the gaze of the Mighty One rests upon me. I plunged myself
completely in the joy that flows from God. I continued throughout the whole
day without interruption, thus immersed in God. In the evening, I fell as if
into a faint and a strange sort of agony. My love wants to equal the love of
the Mighty One. It is drawn to Him so vehemently that it is impossible,
without some special grace from God, to bear the vastness of such a grace in
this life. But I see clearly that Jesus himself is sustaining me and
strengthening me and making me capable of communing with Him. In all this,
the soul is particularly active. (708)

It sometimes happens, while I am listening to the meditation, that one word
puts me in very close union with the Lord, and I no longer know what Father
is saying. I know that I am close to the most merciful Heart of Jesus; my
whole spirit is entirely plunged in Him, and in one moment I learn more than
during long hours of intellectual inquiry and meditation. These are sudden
lights which permit me to know things as God sees them, regarding matters of
both the interior and the exterior world. (733)

Christ's Whole Life Was Filled With Insults,
by Saint John Chrysostom

Scripture tells us that for the sake of the joy that lay ahead of Him,
Christ endured the Cross, thinking nothing of the shame of it. What exactly
is meant by thinking nothing of the shame? The simple fact, as Saint Paul
says, that Christ chose an ignominious death, that He chose it in full
freedom because He was not subject to sin. By so doing Christ taught us to
face disgrace boldly and make light of it.
Let me remind you of the goal He achieved: He has taken His seat at the
right hand of God. You see the prize to be won in this conflict. Even if
there were no reward to be gained, Christ's example would be enough to
persuade us to endure all our trials willingly. In point of fact, we are
told that rewards do lie ahead of us, and these no ordinary honors, but
prizes of such magnitude that they cannot be described.

Therefore, whenever we ourselves have to suffer some disgrace, let us think
of Christ, remembering that His whole life was filled with insults. He was
continuously hearing Himself called a madman, deceiver, and sorcerer, by the
very people among whom He went about doing good, for whom He performed
miracles, and to whom He revealed the works of God.

Prayers in Times of Weakness, Trial, Tribulation
O Heart of Love, I place all my trust in Thee, for I fear all things from my
own weakness, but I hope for all things from Thy goodness.
St. Margaret Mary

I live through the mercy of Jesus, to whom I owe everything and from whom I
expect everything.
Pope John the 23rd

Yet, O Lord, though I have no feeling of confidence in You, nevertheless, I
know that You are my God, that I am all Yours, and that I have no hope but
in your goodness; so, I abandon myself entirely into Your hands.
St. Francis de Sales

You make a root below the soil flourish and you can make fruitful the
darkness in which you keep me.
Jean-Pierre de Caussade

I adore all Thy purposes without knowing them; I am silent; I offer myself
in sacrifice; I yield myself to Thee; I would have no other desire than to
accomplish Thy will. Teach me to pray; pray Thyself in me.
Fenelon

May I be patient! It is so difficult to realize what one believes, and to
make these trials, as they are intended, real blessings.
John Henry Cardinal Newman

My own heart let me more have pity on.
Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J.

PRAYER WHEN YOU NEED HEALING INSIDE

O God,
These prayers come from all of us. Someone prays on our behalf, but the
prayers belong to everyone, and come from our hearts more than from our
mouths. In some ways none of us really knows how another feels, because
each of us must struggle with his own fears, cope with his own problems,
hurt from his own pains, search for his own goals, forgive and be forgiven
his own failures. In such matters, God, when we seek understanding and
hope for encouragement, it is to you that we turn. In moments such as
these, we reach beyond ourselves and our troubles to you...asking not so
much for things, but for a second or two of your presence. Just your
slightest touch, and the day will be blessed, the raw spots will be healed
and there will be peace in the hours ahead. And so we pray to you
Dear God, Almighty, Everlasting One--all of us--giving thanks for
this moment, your touch and our healing. Amen.

A Moment’s Breathing Prayer

Breath in what I need from God

Breathe out self hurt

Breathe in God’s peace
Breathe out anxiety

Breathe in Jesus’ compassion
Breathe out my pride

Breathe in God’s confidence
Breathe out my doubts and uncertainties

Breathe in God’s clarity
Breathe out confusion

Breathe in God’s peace
Breathe out my fears

Breathe in peace ..... exhale
Breathe in peace ..... exhale
Breathe in peace ..... exhale.
