Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

It is important to remember that different can be better. Lord, as I resist change
and cling to the familiar, help me to remember that Your plan is perfect and will
truly make me happy.

Scripture for the day:

"Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10

Meditation for the day:

When we look to God for strength to face responsibility and are quiet
before God, God's healing touch can cause the divine quiet to flow
into our very being. When in weakness we cry to God, God's touch can
bring healing, the renewal of our courage, and the power to meet every
situation and be victorious. When we faint by the way or are
distracted by feelings of inferiority, then we can rely on the touch
of God's spirit to support us on our way. Then we can arise and go
forth with confidence.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may lay myself open today to the healing touch of God.
I pray that I may not falter or faint by the wayside, but renew my
courage through prayer.

Hello my friends! This first sentence is me - I am resisting change - I want to stay here! But God must have a better plan, so I rely upon Him and realize that with Him different can be better. How was your day? I called Lori when she landed - so I know she's safe in Ohio now with her friend, another massage therapist, staying with her and going to the seminar with her. I am at a loss for words tonight - tiredness set in! I just remembered though that today is the 11th anniversary of the Glory of God List I started and I have close to 200 members and still going strong! I can't believe it stayed so long, but God graced it to be what it is!! Praised be Jesus!

True Love is Faithful to the End
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Acts 25:13-21 / Jn 21:15-19

Love, they say, makes the world go round. But what is it? Those warm, mushy feelings that well up inside us? Those tears that flow when we watch our first communicants walk up the aisle in the little white suits and dresses? No, those moments are charming, but they’re not love. They’re sentimentality, which comes and goes faster than we’d care to admit.

Love has a different shape. It’s a determined desiring of the best for the other, and a willingness to do whatever is necessary to make the best happen. In sum, true love, by definition, is faithful and has no limits.

In today’s gospel, Jesus — in the time after His resurrection — asks Peter three times whether he loves Him. The repeated question was an echo of the three times that Peter had denied even knowing Jesus. How those questions must have seared his heart!

But those three questions are for us too. They’re probing the seriousness of our commitment to the Lord. It’s highly unlikely that any of us will be called to witness to our faith by martyrdom. But every one of us is called to witness our love for Jesus daily by being true to the mission He’s given us.

Be like Peter, a man who made monumental mistakes, but knew how to go forward. Be faithful now in your love of our good Lord Jesus.

Mother Teresa said...
The password of the early Christians was "joy," so let us still serve the Lord with joy. Joy is love, joy is prayer, joy is strength. God loves a person who gives joyfully, and if you give joyfully you always give more. A joyful heart is the result of a heart burning with love.

In the morning, oh Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my
requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3

Morning Glory

Some people seem to be born “morning people”, and others not. I’m in
the “not” group. So even though I kept meaning to walk over and take
a photo of the morning glory vines nearby, it was lunchtime before I
got there.

I had seen them earlier, from the car, and they were in full color
array. Vibrant periwinkle blue, on bright green leaves, stretching
from the planter box downstairs all the way up to the second story.

In the heat of mid-day, the vines were still there, but the flowers
had closed. The glory of these lovely flowers was in the morning.

The book of Psalms has always been a source of inspiration and comfort
to me. Something in my spirit and soul begins to calm down and become
serene, when I take time to read words that David penned so long ago.

I thought about what the Bible says, in the psalms, about praying in
the morning. Of course you can pray anytime – which is great! But
there is something about praying in the morning that is special. Even
before getting out of bed.

This timeless confession, by David, the “man after God’s own
heart” (Acts 13:22, 1 Samuel 13:14), is good for me to heed, each and
every morning: “In the morning, oh Lord, you hear my voice; in the
morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”

You Ask Me..

"You ask me how I gave my heart to Christ? I do not know.
There came a yearning for Him in my soul so long ago.
I found earth's flowers would fade and die
I wept for something that could satisfy;
And then--and then--somehow I seemed to dare
To life my broken heart to Him in prayer.

"You ask me when I gave my heart to Christ? I cannot tell.
The day, or just the hour, I do not now remember well.
It must have been when I was all alone;
The light of His forgiving Spirit shone
Into my heart, so clouded o'er with sin;
I think 'twas then I trembling let Him in.

"You ask me where I gave my heart to Christ? I cannot say.
That sacred place has faded from my sight as yesterday.
Perhaps He thought it better I should not
Remember where. How I should love the spot!
I think I could not tear myself away,
For I should wish forever there to stay.

"You ask me why I gave my heart to Christ? I can reply;
It is a wondrous story; listen while I tell you why.
My heart was drawn, at length, to seek His face;
I was alone, I had no resting place;
I heard of Him, how He had loved me with a love
Of depth so great, of height so far above
All human ken; I longed such love to share,
And sought it, then, upon my knees in prayer.

"He heard my prayer! I cannot tell you how,
Nor when, nor where; only--I love Him now."

If You Meet God In The Morning
He'll Go With You Through The Day

By: Helen Steiner Rice

"The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof"
It speaks of His greatness, it sings of His love, and
each day at dawning I lift my heart high, and raise
up my eyes to the infinite sky....
I watch the night as it vanishes and as a new day is born, and I hear the birds singing on the wings of the morn.
I see the dew as it glisten in crystal-like splendor while God, with a touch that is gentle and tender,
Wraps up the night and softly tucks it away, and hangs out the sun to herald a new day.... And so I give thanks and my heart kneels to pray
"God, keep me and guide me and go with me today."

I hope each of you met Him this morning so that He'll be with you as you go throughout the day!

My Day In Court

After living a "decent" life my time on earth came to an end. The first
thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought
to be a courthouse. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and
have a seat by the defense table. As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor,"
he was a villainous looking gent who snarled, as he stared at me. He
definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen. I sat down and looked
to my left and there sat my lawyer, a kind and gentle looking man whose
appearance seemed very familiar to me. The corner door flew open and there
appeared the judge in full flowing robes. He commanded an awesome presence
as he moved across the room, and I couldn't take my eyes off him. As he took
his seat behind the bench, he said "Let us begin."

The prosecutor rose and said "My name is Satan, and I am here to show you
why this man belongs in h ell." He proceeded to tell of lies that I told,
things that I stole and in the past when I cheated others. Satan told of
other horrible perversions that were once in my life, and the more he spoke
the further down in my seat I sank. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't
look at anyone, even my own lawyer, as the Devil told of sins that even I
had completely forgotten about.

As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about me, I was
equally upset at my representative who sat there silently not offering any
form of defense at all. I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had
done some good in my life -- couldn't that at least equal out part of the
harm I've done. Satan finished with a fury and said "This man belongs in
h ell. he is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person who
can prove otherwise. Justice will finally be served this day."

When it was his turn, my lawyer first asked if he might approach the bench.
The judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan and beckoned him
to come forward. As he got up and started walking I was able to see him now
in his full splendor and majesty. Now I realized why he seemed so familiar.
his was Jesus representing me; my Lord and my Savior. He stopped at the
bench and softly said to the judge, "Hi Dad," and then He turned to address
the court.

"Satan was correct in saying that this man had sinned. I won't deny any of
these allegations. And yes the wages of sins is death and this man deserves
to be punished". Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with
outstretched arms and proclaimed, "However, I died on the cross so that this
person might have eternal life, and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so he
is mine." My Lord continued with "His name is written in the book of life
and no one can snatch him from Me. Satan still does not understand yet, this
man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy."

As Jesus sat down, He quietly paused, looked at his Father and replied,
"There is nothing else that needs to be done, I've done it all."

The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down, and the
following words bellowed from His lips -- "This man is free -- the penalty
for him has already been paid in full, case dismissed."

As my Lord led me away I could hear Satan ranting and raving, "I won't give
up, I'll win the next one." I asked Jesus as He gave me my instructions
where to go next, "Have you ever lost a case?"

Christ lovingly smiled and said, "Everyone that has come to me and asked Me
to represent them has received the same verdict as you, Paid in Full."
