Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

The important thing is not how long your life is, but how good your life is.
Lord, may I glorify You all the days of my life.

Scripture for the day:

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were
called in the one body. And be thankful." ~Colossians 3:15

Meditation for the day:

We can be at home and comfortable in the world. Yet some of us live
lives of quiet desperation. This is the opposite of being at home and at
peace in the world. We can let our peace of mind be evident to those around us.
We can let others see that we are comfortable, and seeing it, know that it
springs from our trust in God. The dull, hard way of resignation is
not God's way. Faith can take the sting out of the winds of adversity and
can bring peace even in the midst of struggle.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be more comfortable in my way of living. I pray that
I may feel more at home and at peace within myself.

Homily of the Day

You Are What You Eat!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Acts 9:1-20 / Jn 6:52-59

In virtually all cultures, there are few ideas more repugnant and few taboos more inviolable than those regarding cannibalism. Most people would rather die than eat the flesh of a fellow human being. Hence, we can understand the consternation that Jesus’ followers felt when he told them that unless they ate His flesh and drank His blood they would have no life in them. What a jolt that must have been! He hadn’t given them the class on the Eucharist yet.

There’s a saying in our culture that gives a good insight as to where Jesus was leading them. It says, “You are what you eat.” In a spiritual sense, that’s exactly what Jesus wants for us, to become a part of Him and to replicate in each part of our life and character His goodness. Our bonding with Him, especially by sharing the Eucharist, will give us the strength and energy to grow into His goodness. That strength and energy is what we call “grace.”

What a remarkable destiny we have: To become brothers and sisters to the Lord Jesus, in the truest and fullest sense. How loved we are! Let us give thanks and love in return.

A Child Lives What It Learns

If a child lives with criticism, He learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, He learns to fight.

If a child lives with ridicule, He learns to be shy.

If a child lives with shame, He learns to be guilty.

If a child lives with tolerance, He learns to be patient.

If a child lives with encouragement, He learns confidence.

If a child lives with praise, He learns to appreciate.

If a child lives with fairness, He learns justice.

If a child lives with security, He learns to have faith.

If a child lives with approval, He learns to like himself.

If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, He learns to find love in the world.

Think of Others

Lord, help me live my life for Thee
to think of others instead of me
and help me give my very best
without regard for need of rest.

Until I've run the race you've set
and every righteous goal is met.
Then will I pause to give thee praise
for all the grace that blessed my days.

Then lovingly will I lay down.
a life of work, to thee a crown,
unworthy token though it be
to you who gave me so much for me.

The Cross You Bear

The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer.
"Lord, I can't go on," he said.
"I have too heavy a cross to bear."
The Lord replied,
"My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish."
The man was filled with relief.
"Thank you, Lord, "
he sighed, and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall.
"I'd like that one, Lord,"
he whispered. And the Lord replied,

" My son, that is the cross you just brought in."
When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more blessed than you imagined.
No matter How heavy your cross there's always someone that's bearing a cross much more overwhelming than yours, so cast your burdens on the Lord, because He will help to carry that cross when you think you can't go on.
Be blessed this weekend and tell someone you love them. Love will lighten any load you carry and Jesus loves us one and all.

Closing Prayer

The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.
