Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends! Tomorrow (Saturday) we'll celebrate Linus' brother and wife's 50th Wedding Anniversary! It starts at noon till about 4 - which is good as tomorrow night it's getting down to -25. They have three children, the girls are both in different states, the boy and his family live near them on a lake. It'll be nice to see how the great nephews and nieces are growing up! My blessings is knowing them and marrying in this family. It's also a blessing to see Sammy walking normally again, for some time now, just has that cough yet. He's a real trooper going out with no trouble at all in this weather!

There is no real happiness without God and no peace when we separate

ourselves

from Him. Lord, You said, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you".

I give you my troubled heart.

Scripture for the day:

"Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in

the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be

exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in

human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became

obedient to the point of death-- even death on a cross." ~Philippians 2:5-8

Meditation for the day:

Divine control and unquestioning obedience to God can lead to a good

spiritual life. Divine control means absolute faith and trust in God, a

belief that God is the intelligence and love that controls the universe.

Unquestioning obedience to God means living each day the way we believe God

wants us to live, constantly seeking the guidance of God in every situation

and being willing to do the right thing at all times.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may always be under God's control and practice unquestioning

obedience to God. I pray that I may be always ready to serve God.

Wisdom of the Saints

"God gave us faculties for our use; each of them will receive its proper

reward.

Then do not let us try to charm

them to sleep, but permit them to do

their work until divinely called to

something higher"

St. Teresa of Avila

"The things that we love tell

us what we are"

St.Thomas Aquinas

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

and where there is sadness, joy."

St. Francis of Assisi

"We will either accuse ourselves

or excuse ourselves."

St. John Vianney

"Preach the Gospel at all times.

If necessary, use words"

St. Francis

"The tongue is a small member,

but it does big things.

A religious who does not keep silence will never attain holiness;

that is, she will never become a saint"

St. Faustina

"I want my tongue to praise God

without cease. Great are the faults

committed by the tongue.

The soul will not attain sanctity

if it does not keep watch over its tongue"

St. Faustina

From Him and Through Him

Today, dear Jesus, when my thoughts get complicated

and I start to think too many things,

whisper to me the simple truth that it is all

from you…through you…to you.

from Catholic Mom 24/7: Daily Meditations for Busy Mothers

Happiness

They tell the story of the old dog who saw a puppy chasing its tail, and

asked: "Why are you chasing your tail?"

Said the puppy, "I have mastered philosophy." I have solved the problems of

the universe, which no dog before me had rightly solved.

I have learned that the best thing for a dog is happiness. And happiness for

me is my tail. Therefore, I am chasing it. And when I catch it, I shall have

it."

Said the old dog: "my son, I also have paid attention to the problems of the

universe in a small way. And I, too, have formed some opinions. I, too, have

judged that happiness is a fine think for a dog; and that happiness is in my

tail. But I have noticed that when I chase my tail, it keeps running away

from me. But when I go about my business, my tail comes after me. And so

does happiness!"

WORTHLESS...PRICELESS

Author Unknown

"You are worth more than many sparrows." - Luke. 12: 7

I give my all to a project. Still, I fail. I strive to be holy. Yet,

I sin. I serve the Lord to the best that I can and for this I have been

persecuted, ridiculed, insulted, maligned, suspected, charged,

conspired against, ganged-on, crushed, chopped, ground, pulverized.

I am a loser. I am a worm. I am worthless.

Then, my son comes up to me and tells me, "You know, Dad, I'm

the luckiest boy in the world. Why? Because you're my Dad! You're a

good man, Dad! You're the best!

Then, my wife sits down with me and shares, "Love, Auntie just

called up to tell me that the best decision I made in life is to

marry you. And she's right. I can't imagine life without you."

Then, my mom calls me up and with a croaking, crying voice, she

whispers, "I love you. I'm so proud of you. You've made our family

whole and complete!"

Then, I close my eyes, shed a tear, and pray, "Thank you, God,

for making me a very, very important person."

I AM A WINNER. I AM LOVED. I AM PRICELESS!

Chamber of Prayer

Lord God take me there

Where You and I can share

Our innermost thoughts in prayer

With all my problems bare

For as I seek Your face

You lift me with Your grace

You surround me with Your light

And give me renewed sight

Lord God take me there

Where You and I can share

Your Kingdom yet to come

And the love we have for Your Son

The peace and calm You give

Almost seems unreal

Then I remember the place

You've brought me with Your grace

It is when You take me there

To that secret Chamber of Prayer

And expecting a miracle there

You show how much You care

Lord God gently lead me there

To that secret Chamber of Prayer

Shower me with Your fountain

Miracles in answered prayer

Let your tap drip slowly, hopefully you can park your car in a garage. Yup, MI is cold too. We've lived in ND before, and I thought we left all the "wind chill" stuff behind. On the pipes, leave your cupboard doors open for the surrounding air to help too.

Stash away some extra drinking water in case you need to. Have flashlights and blankets and transistor radios handy too. Recharge your cell while you can. That sort of thing. Candles and matches? I'd prefer flashlights, but just in case candles. Don't go off and leave them or walk away from them.

Just a few of those things I remember needing. I hope you have a gas stove. We've had to melt snow to flush our toilet before in ND. Only it got so cold there, you had to plug your car battery in.

You probably know all this stuff, but just wanted to pass along a few friendly reminders. Keep warm.

Pray for your pipes??? We have been shovelling out the last two days where I am having experienced extreme blizzard conditions, shovelling with the strong winds and beyond frigid temps. It is what it is. To have a home, shelter is something to be completeley grateful for. What I pray for, rather whom I pray for are the tens of thousands of homeless who have to somehow search for shelter in the conditions we are experiencing. That have alot more to deal with than possibility of freezing pipes. A lot of people are alone. But if you are so scared to be alone in your home, first of all count your blessings that you have a home. And if it is not the home you want, take the bull by the horns and make change in your life. Unlike the homeless, you have the power to do so.

Thank you for your post. Yes, I'm praying that my water pipes don't burst. The thing is, I can ask Jesus and He provides according to His will. I have a close relationship to the Lord Jesus. I have a home and you're right I should and I am blessed for that. I wish you blessings too. Stay safe and warm and God bless you.

So you think since you have such a close relationship with a "higher power", if you ask for your pipes to not burst, they won't?? Are you serious? Do you think you are more deserving in some way than someone else? Its winter!! It is frigid, bitter, bitter cold and snow everywhere. But you are above ground so what reason is there not to be grateful. Winter is going to happen every year. What are you going to do if it gets even colder. What about next year. And the year after. Point is the things you "pray" for...they are "things" that require change on your part if you wish peace I do not need your blessings. I give my blessings to those that are in real need, not for myself. Millions are much worse off than you will ever be as they have no shelter, food, only the clothes on their back. They are certainly not posting on a shopping channel bulletin board. Others would give anything to have what you have.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Greetings all! I am not sure what to say about all this, but I will say that we can ask our Lord, Jesus Christ anything, even that our pipes don't burst and trust in Him. He says, ask and you shall receive, doesn't He? I ask, I ask for a lot of things, and for people too. I ask Mary, our Blessed Mother, for her intercession. I know she does. So I'll leave it at that.

This is a positive thread. We pray for those who ask for prayers. God is here with us, He answers prayer. Amen.

ITA with everything you posted. Systematically a victim and ungrateful for all she does have, and has been given, through little effort on her part.
