Daily Inspiration, Scripture, Meditation and Prayer
February 12
The time you spend communicating with God is time spent with a close friend. Lord, my friend, teach me to listen because You lead me to solutions for all of my needs.
Scripture for the Day
"Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 3:12-14
Meditation for the Day
In a race, it is when the goal is in sight that the heart and nerves and muscles and courage are strained almost to the breaking point. So with us. The goal of the spiritual life is in sight. All we need is the final effort. The saddest records are made by people who ran well, with brave, stout hearts, until the sight of the goal . . . and then some weakness or self-indulgence held them back. They never knew how near the goal they were or how near they were to victory.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may press on until the goal is reached. I pray that I may not give up in the final stretch.
Peace of the Lord be with you all! Hope your day went well and you got a lot accomplished! I did a lot of cooking today - first we went grocery shopping after my dentist appt. and bought a 12 pound turkey - he put that on the grill and I made a soup out of the wings and neck - then after the bird was done, I froze some and froze the carcass etc. for making another soup. I got a few meals separated from this. Still on the low glycemic index diet and going good but I still haven't found out yet what the glycemic load is, I'll have to study that but haven't been reading lately. I'm blessed to have a freezer to put the food in that is cooked now and needs to freeze for another meal. I'm blessed for the fridge which is full of food now - I'm blessed because we just had a nice phone call from Darla - only sad that she still is doctoring and still isn't sleeping good and still has to have sleep pills.
Let's all keep her in prayer. She says that they went out last night and Greg sent a picture of them to my cell. I don't know how to get it, so I'll wait until we see Lori on Sunday and have her get it for us. I told her to have him email me the picture. I am blessed that my dentist appt. went fine - nothing wrong - just the cleaning etc. but I hadn't gone for two years! And to have my folders is a great blessing too!! You all are my blessings along with my family and friends. You all are needed in my life! Thank you for being a part of my life!

How Does Real Healing Happen?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Gn 3:1-8 / Mk 7:31-37
There’s a curious pattern in the gospel accounts of Jesus healing of sick people of their various maladies. As often as not, Jesus will send them on their way with the admonition not to tell anyone about their healing by Jesus. It does seem curious. Why not share such wonderful and, especially for the newly healed person, exciting news? After all, we are social beings, and it’s in our nature to celebrate with our friends.
That’s all true, but Jesus had another deeper concern, which was based upon his unparalleled insight into human nature. He knew that the temptation would be to focus on the ‘magic’ and to get caught up in the ‘bread and circuses’ and to miss entirely the inner dimension which was the root and core of the healing.
Remember how Jesus almost always said to the persons he healed, ‘Your faith has made you whole.’ It wasn’t a magic formula or incantation that healed them. It was their open-hearted connecting through Jesus to God, whose power could then work in them.
And that tells us something crucial about our own lives. If we want our sin-wounds to be healed and if we want to grow whole, we have to give God unlimited access to where those wounds are, inside our hearts. God cannot heal us at arms length.
Morning Motivation
When I woke up this morning lying in bed,
I was asking myself;
What are some of the secrets of success in life?
I found the answer right there, in my very room.
The Fan said... Be cool
The Roof said... Aim high
The Window said... See the world
The Clock said... Every minute is precious
The mirror said... Reflect before you act
The Calendar said... Be up-to-date
The Door said... Push hard for your goals
AND NOT TO FORGET, THE CARPET SAID...
"KNEEL DOWN AND PRAY"
Carry a Heart that Never Hates.
Carry a Smile that Never Fades.
Carry a Touch that Never Hurts..
'God Blesses Us To Be A Blessing Unto Others'
Meditation
Righteous Living
Live in such a way that the heavenly Father may be proud of you,
as He is proud of so many other chosen souls.
The Jars
The preacher placed two identical jars on the table next to the pulpit.
He quoted 1 Samuel 16:7 'The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
"These jars came from the same factory, were made of the same materials, and can hold the same amount. But they are different," he explained. Then he upset one and it oozed out honey. He turned over the other, and vinegar spilled out.
"When a jar is upset, whatever is in it comes out. Until the jars were upset, they looked alike. The difference was within, and could not be seen. When they were upset, their contents were revealed. Until we are upset we put on a good front. But when we are upset, we reveal our innermost thoughts and attitudes, for 'out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.'" (Luke 6:45)
What if someone tipped you over today? What would flow out? Would you reveal the "honey" of grace and patience, or the "vinegar" of anger and sarcasm?
"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." (1Peter 4:8)
Have a terrific day knowing that the one who upsets you may be just looking for some honey - Don't give them vinegar!

Closing Prayer
To Mary: Spouse Of The Spirit
Daughter of the most High,
mother of God
faithful spouse of the Holy Spirit --
yet also
Mary of Nazareth,
Joseph's wife,
my mother --
hear my prayer for grace, O full of grace.
Pray your spouse the Holy Spirit
to come upon me --
to shelter me from all ill,
to strengthen me to do what is right,
to teach me all truth.
Pray the Spirit come to me,
and abide with me,
and be within me a fountain
springing up into eternal life.
May the Spirit sustain me in sorrow,
sanctify me in life,
and receive me at the hour of my death.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray these things for me.
