Prayer helps us see that God is not the cause of unpleasant happenings, but
the healing of them. Lord, I trust in You for the right outcomes in all situations.
Scripture for the day:
"My vows to you I must perform, O God; I will render thank offerings to you.
For you have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from falling, so that
I may walk before God in the light of life." ~Psalm 56:12-13
Meditation for the day:
I will never forget to say thank you to God, even on the grayest days. My
attitude can be one of humility and gratitude. Saying thank you to God is a
daily practice that is absolutely necessary. If a day is not one of
thankfulness, the practice has to be repeated until it becomes so. Gratitude
is a necessity for those who seek to live a better life.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that gratitude will bring humility. I pray that humility will bring
me to live a better life.
Hello my friends! Today I still worked a bit on my list to get it organized - and I think It'll be okay on charter now, and what a hassle to make sure all 200 members get what they signed up to have. Asking Our Lord to take care of it - and trust that He is. I've done all I can do. Tonight was a blessing when our friend, Deb, picked us up for a Praise and worship singing session, like a prayer meeting, and later we went to Perkins for something to eat and visit. Big snowstorm is headed our way tomorrow night through Sunday so we plan on going to Saturday night Mass hopefully before it starts. Please remember Ron, my brother-in-law, surgery on colon at the Mayo Clinic next week. Monday he has tests there. He's never had a surgery before! Praying for all of you - thanks for your prayers for us. God bless you!
Waiting On The Lord
When prayers aren't answered, quickly or right away,
Just ask the Lord, to reveal to you, the reason for His delay.
If the answer for that request just seems to take too long,
Just lift up your hands and praise Him, with a glorious new song.
Just wait on the Lord, and try to be still,
'Cause your request may not be in God's will.
If that is the case, just praise Him again,
He won't steer you wrong 'cause He's your friend.
Maybe you'll learn patience, a little trust too.
Or maybe your motives you'll need to review.
Ask Him for an answer, the way He sees fit.
But don't lose hope and don't you quit.
The answer can be revealed in a miraculous way
So, be prepared to listen to what He has to say!
The answer will bring Him honor and glory,
And then you'll be able to tell your story.
Minister to those who did lose hope,
Who were looking for answers on how to cope!

This morning our cat Oreo (so named because he is a handsome black-and-white),
and I went through a familiar ritual at the back door.
Oreo had been outside for a while and began meowing because he wanted to come
in. I opened the door and waited, but he did not come in! He stopped and
lowered his head suspiciously, as if I were a deadly enemy. "Come on, Oreo,"
I said impatiently.
He sat down thoughtfully and began to wash his face.
"Oreo," I said, "I give you food, and I supply all your needs. If you do anything
in return, I don't know what it is. Now I'm personally inviting you into my home.
Please come in."
Oreo put one foot across the threshold, then drew it back. He turned to look out
across the yard with some remote, unfathomable expression, and he didn't come in.
"Oreo," I said, "I'm not going to stand here forever. If you don't come in, I'm
going to close this door. This is your last chance!"
I started to slowly close the door. Did he come in? No, he sat there exercising
his free will or something. He'd come in when it suited him and not before. He
figured I'd be patient. So far, he's always been right.
God made cats, He also made people. I wonder how He feels when He stands at the
door and waits...and waits...
I think I know.

How many of you remember the Onion?
The Onion
I was an onion before Christ set me free.
Layers upon layers of iniquity.
An ugly old onion whose fragrance was strong;
That my Jesus bought and loved all along.
Unknown to me what He was going to do.
Of what He was planning, I had not a clue.
Pulling each layer off one by one.
In order to make me more like Jesus the Son.
The first layer wasn't so bad.
I saw all the sins that I knew I had.
They were easy to fix, just change the way I talk.
And learn more of how He wanted me to walk.
Reading His Word, and learning again;
How to put aside my life of sin.
But the next layer was pulled which hurt more.
He was getting closer to the core.
Unknown what He would find there.
I simply gave it to Him in prayer.
As another layer was removed, He started to cry;
Pulling this layer brought pain to my Father on High.
And I was crying over the sadness I felt;
The brokenness and all of the guilt.
Past memories that I thought were gone;
They were buried under layers disguised in a fragrance so strong.
As onions peel more and more;
And they put tears in our eyes as we get close to the core;
So my Father wept over my pain;
Giving me a balm of comfort and strength to sustain.
"No More Layers." I would scream.
As He continued to peel them off of me.
"I'll have nothing left my Lord, what will I do?
I'll be nothing but a worthless core to you. "
But He just said "Trust me," and continued to peel
I was sure He was blinded to my pain that was so real.
Year after year I shrunk more and more;
Until all that was left of this onion was a core.
It was then that I began to understand;
As the Lord embraced me in His loving hand.
He said, now and only now can you be;
The creation that will minister before me.
Clothed with the righteousness only from above;
Gone are your layers of self so you can be filled with my love.
He took my layers of sin, hurt and pain;
And clothed me with love, truth and mercy in His name.
Yes, we are all onions, learning with each day;
How to overcome as each layer is taken away.
Some layers tear and pull at our heart;
While others grieve us to our innermost part.
But we are nothing but an ugly onion without Christ.
Layers upon layers of pride, sin and strife.
Only God can take those layers away.
And clothe us with His righteousness in that final day.

Mother Teresa Said...
Faith is a gift from God.
When God comes to you or you go to God, then you will have the chance to accept Him or reject Him.
Accepting Him is the gift of faith.
A Prayer To St. Joseph
O blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector
of thy chaste spouse, the virgin Mother of God, I choose thee this day to
be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor thee all
the days of my life. Therefore I humbly beseech thee to receive me as thy
client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction,
to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus,
and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen
"I know by experience," says St. Teresa of Avila,
"that the glorious St. Joseph assists us generally in all necessities.
I never asked him for anything which he did not obtain for me."
