Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

You will be as happy as you desire to be.
Lord, my life is a gift. Let me celebrate each moment.

"But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and
persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act--they will
be blessed in their doing." ~James 1:25

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y
I can try to obey God's will day in and day out, in the wilderness
plains as well as on the mountaintops of experience. It is in the
daily strivings that perseverance counts. I can believe that God is
Lord of little things. I can persevere in this new way of life. I
know that nothing in the day is too small not to be important to God.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y
I pray that the little stones which I put into the mosaic of my life
may make a worthwhile pattern. I pray that I may persevere and so
find harmony and beauty.

Peace if Jesus to you! Hope you all had a great day today! We just got home from being invited to a friend's house and we played games all night - there were three couples. It was a lot of fun, but it got late! It's after midnight already!! My blessings for today would be the Gift of friends from our Church! I do have a prayer request for you, Lori just called - remember Elicia who's Dad, Nick died just before Christmas? Well she called to say that Elicia's cousin who is like a brother to her is being transported right now to the Hospital in Mpls. because he has hemopoma - internal bleeding and they have to find out where it is. He's in his 20's. Lori says they cannot handle another death. That family is sure going thru some hard times. Lori is with her now being a support and asking for prayers. I think it's a blessing, too, that Lori knows she can call home any time for prayers and knows she'll get them.

He Sees in You a Capacity for Greatness!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark
Heb 8:6-13 / Mk 3:13-19
Like a new president putting together his cabinet, Jesus chose His twelve and took them to the top of a mountain where He gave to each a special share in His ministry of spreading the Good News. Every one of them was gifted in some way, but none of them was perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Yet Jesus saw in each the capacity for true greatness in the eyes of God. He saw it in Matthew the tax collector, in Peter the obstreperous fisherman, and yes, He saw it in Judas, who would later betray Him. Jesus took a chance on the goodness that God had planted in each of their hearts, and in every case but one God’s grace took root and flourished.
Why did the eleven succeed and the one fail? Surely it wasn’t a matter of talent or giftedness, because Judas probably outshone most of his colleagues. And it certainly wasn’t a lack of subsequent mistakes, for the whole lot of them continued to stumble as much as walk along their paths, even after Jesus had sent them the Spirit to be their counsel and guide. The decisive factor in those Apostles achieving the destination of sainthood for which God intended them was not sinlessness, but a readiness to acknowledge their sins, to seek forgiveness, and to start again and again and again.
It was the only real choice that they had, and it’s the only choice we have, not to be perfect, but never to cease in giving our hearts back to the Lord in humble sorrow and then trying again and again and again.

Blood of Christ, Inebriate Me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me! Inebriate me with Your Love, that I may be absorbed in Your interests and Your Will. Absorbed so as to be unmindful of my ills and petty cares. Unmindful of weariness and pain, heartache, and disappointment. Heedless of the lash of cruel words, and patient under wrongs. Amen.

Trust Him

Trust Him
when dark doubts assail you,
Trust Him
when your faith is small,
Trust Him,
when to trust Him . . .
is the hardest thing of all.
Trust Him,
He is ever faithful,
Trust Him
for His will is best,
Trust Him
for the Heart of Jesus,
is the only place of rest.

Aim High

There once was a man who had nothing for his family to eat. He had an old shotgun and three bullets. So, he decided that he would go out and kill something for dinner.
As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit and he shot at the rabbit and missed it. Then he saw a squirrel and fired a shot at the squirrel and missed it. As he went further, he saw a wild turkey in the tree and he had only one bullet, but a voice came to him and said "pray first, aim high and stay focused."
However, at the same time, he saw a deer which was a better kill. He brought the gun down and aimed at the deer. But, then he saw a rattle snake between his legs about to bite him, so he naturally brought the gun down further to shoot the rattle snake.
Still, the voice said again to him, "I said 'pray, aim high and stay focused."
So, the man decided to listen to the voice. He prayed, then aimed the gun high up in the tree and shot the wild turkey. The bullet bounced off the turkey and killed the deer. The handle fell off the gun and hit the snake in the head and killed it. And, when the gun had gone off, it knocked him into a pond.
When he stood to look around, he had fish in all his pockets, a dead deer and a turkey to eat. The snake (Satan) was dead simply because the man listened to God.
Moral of the story: Pray first before you do anything, aim and shoot high.

THE LETTER
Author Unknown
Apr 28 2009
Ruth went to her mail box and there was only one letter. She picked it
up and looked at it before opening, but then she looked at the
envelope again. There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and
address.
She read the letter:
Dear Ruth,
I'm going to be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon and I'd like
to stop by for a visit.
Love Always,
Jesus
Her hands were shaking as she placed the letter on the table. "Why
would the Lord want to visit me? I'm nobody special. I don't have
anything to offer." With that thought, Ruth remembered her empty
kitchen cabinets.
"Oh my goodness, I really don't have anything to offer. I'll have to
run down to the store and buy something for dinner." She reached for
her purse and counted out its contents. Five dollars and forty cents.
"Well, I can get some bread and cold cuts, at least." She threw on her
coat and hurried out the door. A loaf of french bread, a half-pound of
sliced turkey, and a carton of milk...leaving Ruth with grand total of
twelve cents to last her until Monday. Nonetheless, she felt good as
she headed home, her meager offerings tucked under her arm.
"Hey lady, can you help us, lady?" Ruth had been so absorbed in her
dinner plans, she hadn't even noticed two figures huddled in the
alleyway. A man and a woman, both of them dressed in little more than
rags.
"Look lady, I ain't got a job, ya know, and my wife and I have been
living out here on the street, and, well, now it's getting cold and
we're getting kinda hungry and, well, if you could help us, lady, we'd
really appreciate it."
Ruth looked at them both. They were dirty, they smelled bad and,
frankly, she was certain that they could get some kind of work if they
really wanted to.
"Sir, I'd like to help you, but I'm a poor woman myself. All I have is
a few cold cuts and some bread, and I'm having an important guest for
dinner tonight and I was planning on serving that to Him."
"Yeah, well, okay lady, I understand. Thanks anyway." The man put his
arm around the woman's shoulders, turned and headed back into the
alley. As she watched them leave, Ruth felt a familiar twinge in her
heart.
"Sir, wait!" The couple stopped and turned as she ran down the alley
after them. "Look, why don't you take this food. I'll figure out
something else to serve my guest." She handed the man her grocery
bag.
"Thank you lady. Thank you very much!"
"Yes, thank you!" It was the man's wife, and Ruth could see now that
she was
shivering.
"You know, I've got another coat at home. Here, why don't you take
this one." Ruth unbuttoned her jacket and slipped it over the woman's
shoulders.
Then smiling, she turned and walked back to the street...without her
coat and with nothing to serve her guest. "Thank you lady! Thank you
very much!"
Ruth was chilled by the time she reached her front door, and worried
too. The Lord was coming to visit and she didn't have anything to
offer Him. She fumbled through her purse for the door key. But as she
did, she noticed another envelope in her mailbox.
"That's odd. The mailman doesn't usually come twice in one day." She
took the envelope out of the box and opened it.
Dear Ruth,
It was so good to see you again. Thank you for the lovely meal. And
thank you, too, for the beautiful coat.
Love Always,
Jesus
The air was still cold, but even without her coat, Ruth no longer
noticed.

Closing Prayer:

A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
All powerful, most holy, most high, supreme God, holy and just Father, Lord, King of heaven and earth,
We thank you for Yourself. By your holy will and through your only Son and with the Holy Spirit you created every spiritual and corporal being; and, after making us in your own image and likeness, you placed us in paradise.
Through our own fault we fell.
We thank you for redemption. Through your Son you created us, and through your holy love with which you loved us, you caused him to be born as true God and true man of the glorious, ever virgin, most blessed, holy Mary; and you willed to redeem us from bondage through his cross, blood and death.
We thank you for the second coming.
Your Son will come again in the glory of his majesty: those who are wicked, who have not done penance and have not known you, He will send into the eternal fire; to those who have known, adored and served you in penance, He will say, "Come. You have my Father's blessing! Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world."
All of us have sinned and are not worthy to pronounce your name.
We humbly ask that our Lord Jesus Christ, your beloved Son in whom you were well pleased, together with the Holy Spirit, the Consoler, would give you thanks for everything as it pleases you and him, who always satisfies you in all things, and through whom you have done so much for us. Alleluia.
St. Francis of Assisi
