Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends,

Hope you all are having a great Friday! We are blessed today by having our computer back and in running order, yes, even charter! Folders that I thought were gone for good were just hiding and they are now back in place!! Praise the Lord!! Another blessing - we got a new keyboard and mouse - wireless. That's really neat!! I asked questions to these computer guys that are local, and got answers, and we both really trust them. My cousin, Father Jerry, was here for lunch - I made a good chicken vegetable noodle soup, with barley in it, good and filling!! I sent some home with him. And another blessing, not just today's but I started another aero garden, this time cherry tomatoes and they are sprouting. It's always fun to watch new plants grow. Never did the tomatoes though. Take care and God be with you always!

When you wonder what you should do, ask yourself what the Lord would do
and you can't go wrong. Lord, make me more like You every day.
S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate
your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he
makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the
righteous and on the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what
reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you
greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others?
Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Be perfect, therefore, as your
heavenly Father is perfect." ~Matthew
5:43-48

I can practice love, because lack of love will block the way. I can try to
see good in all people, those I like and those who fret me and go against
the grain. They are all children of God. I can try to give love;
otherwise, how can I dwell in God's spirit from which nothing unloving can
come? I can try to get along with all people, because the more love I give
away, the more I will have.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may do all I can to love others, in spite of their many
faults. I pray that as I love, so will I be loved.
PEARLS

The cheerful girl with bouncy golden curls was almost five. Waiting
with her mother at the checkout stand, she saw them: a circle of
glistening white pearls in a pink foil box. "Oh please, Mommy, can I
have them? Please, Mommy, please?"

Quickly the mother checked the back of the little foil box and then
looked back into the pleading blue eyes of her little girl's upturned
face. "A dollar ninety-five. That's almost $2.00. If you really want
them, I'll think of some extra chores for you and in no time you can
save enough money to buy them for yourself. Your birthday's only a
week away and you might get another crisp dollar bill from Grandma."

As soon as Jenny got home, she emptied her penny bank and counted out
17 pennies. After dinner, she did more than her share of chores and
she went to the neighbor and asked Mrs. McJames if she could pick
dandelions for ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her
another new dollar bill and at last she had enough money to buy the
necklace.

Jenny loved her pearls. They made her feel dressed up and grown up.
She wore them everywhere-Sunday school, kindergarten, even to bed. The
only time she took them off was when she went swimming or had a bubble
bath. Mother said if they got wet, they might turn her neck green.

Jenny had a very loving daddy and every night when she was ready for
bed, he would stop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read her
a story.

One night when he finished the story, he asked Jenny, "Do you love
me?"

"Oh yes, Daddy. You know that I love you."

"Then give me your pearls."

"Oh, Daddy, not my pearls. But you can have Princess - the white horse
from my collection. The one with the pink tail. Remember, Daddy? The
one you gave me. She's my favorite."

"That's okay, Honey. Daddy loves you. Good night." And he brushed her
cheek with a kiss.

About a week later, after the story time, Jenny's Daddy asked again,
"Do you love me?"

"Daddy, you know I love you."

"Then give me your pearls."

"Oh Daddy, not my pearls. But you can have my baby doll. The brand new
one I got for my birthday. She is so beautiful and you can have the
yellow blanket that matches her sleeper."

"That's okay. Sleep well. God bless you, little one. Daddy loves you."
And as always, he brushed her cheek with a gentle kiss.

A few nights later when her daddy came in, Jenny was sitting on her
bed with her legs crossed Indian-style. As he came close, he noticed
her chin was trembling and one silent tear rolled down her cheek.

"What is it, Jenny? What's the matter?"

Jenny didn't say anything but lifted her little hand up to her daddy.
And when she opened it, there was her little pearl necklace. With a
little quiver, she finally said, "Here, Daddy. It's for you."

With tears gathering in his own eyes, Jenny's kind daddy reached out
with one hand to take the dime-store necklace, and with the other hand
he reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet case with a
strand of genuine pearls and gave them to Jenny. He had them all the
time. He was just waiting for her to give up the dime-store stuff so
he could give her genuine treasure.

Jenny's father is like our heavenly Father. He also is waiting for us
to give up our dime store stuff and seek Him first... so He can fling
open the windows of Heaven and pour us out such a blessing that we
will not have room enough to hold it.

Sacrifice and prayer complement each other. There is no prayer without sacrifice, and there is no sacrifice without prayer. That is what Jesus has shown us. Jesus' life was spent in intimate union with his Father as he passed through this world doing good. We need to do the same.

Prayer to Stop Abortion

Father in Heaven, we thank You for the gift of life. Grant that all mothers who give birth will welcome their babies with love, but if the mothers feel they are unable to raise their babies, grant that they may be compassionate toward the life You have given and not destroy it before birth. To those children who have been wantonly deprived of earthly life grant whatever happiness to which they are entitled. And to the mothers who have denied them life in this world grant Your merciful grace of repentance and reconciliation with Our Savior, so that they may obtain eternal life. Grant also the grace of conversion to those who perform abortions and anyone associated with abortion.

Mary, Mother of God, intercede for us. Holy Innocents, pray for us. Amen.

Come to Me and rest. I am all about you, to bless and restore. Breathe Me in with each breath. The way just ahead of you is very steep. Slow down and cling tightly to My hand. I am teaching you a difficult lesson, learned only by hardship.

Lift up empty hands of faith to receive My precious Presence. Light, Life, Joy, and Peace flow freely through this gift. When your focus turns away from Me, you grasp for other things. You drop the glowing gift of My Presence as you reach for lifeless ashes. Return to Me; regain My Presence.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
—Matthew 11:28–29

I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Happy Weekend! I'm going out to pick up some produce, and maybe try a new recipe later today. It depends how I feel after I get back. Yesterday I did get out to get my script filled, and shopped a little in the stores near the pharmacy. I bought a new Tracphone, as it never dawned on me that batteries can be replaced in them! It was on sale, very inexpensive, and is well worth having, as DH's needed replacement. I'll order a battery for my original one, and we'll be set.

Bobbiesue, Have a good time with your family this weekend. I'm happy your eyes are getting better.

Gloria, How nice is that to find your files still in tact, as well as having a computer working well again. I bought the canned air to clean mine, and will use it this morning. The soup you made really sounds good. I may have to pick up some barley, and maybe use it with some chicken and veggies in the crock pot maybe? I'll come with something. Your menus always sound so delicious and healthy too! Hugs, pinky

It must be great having your computer back. I don't think we realize how much we rely on them until we lose them. Blessings to all . Stay safe and warm. Harlene(lovestopaint)
