Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Your spirit is divine, but your personality is human. As you purify your personality
you will begin to achieve a happiness of which you could not imagine. Lord, teach
me to think, speak, and live right so that I may come to know You more and more.

Scripture for the day:
"For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the
same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually
we are members one of another." ~Romans 12:4-5

Meditation for the day:
We can strive for a union between our purposes in life and God's purposes.
There is not bond of union on earth to compare with the union between us and
God. Priceless beyond all earth's rewards is that union. In merging our
heart and mind with God's, a oneness of purpose results, which only those
who experience it can even dimly realize. That oneness of purpose puts us
in harmony with God and with all others who are trying to do God's will.

Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may become attuned to the will of God. I pray that I may be
in harmony with those around me.

Hello my friends! Hope your Sunday was blessed! Today we woke up to it being very humid out and hot - our patio doors were all steamy! That's the first time I saw that here in our house in the 8 years we've lived here. It's been like this all day. Mass was wonderful and the Church Air Cond. After Mass I called Lori and she wanted to go out for lunch with us, and for Pizza, so we went to House of Pizza and had a nice pizza, first one I've had in a long time. It felt good!! The rest of the day was restful. Ordinary miracles all around us!
I just found out that my great-nephew, Cory, is engaged now! He's the military guy! She's in the army, too.

Ordinary Miracles
Today, I wish you a day of ordinary miracles ---
A fresh pot of coffee you didn't make yourself.
An unexpected phone call from an old friend.
Green stoplights on your way to work.
I wish you a day of of little things to rejoice in ---
The fastest line at the grocery store.
A good sing along song on the radio.
Your keys right where you look.
I wish you a day of happiness and perfection ---
Little bite-size pieces of perfection that give you the funny feeling
that the universe is smiling on you, holding you so gently
because you are someone special and rare.

Why Isn´t Everybody Happy?
We seek happiness in almost everything. Food, s ex, money, power, the usual suspects.
And these things provide a measure of happiness, to be sure.
Indeed, some forms of happiness are nobler than others but even the lowest are good as far as they go.
A really good piece of chocolate is good, but not as noble and good
as the happiness derived from friendship, or the love of a spouse.
But even these nobler forms of happiness are not, in the end, enough.
After that good marriage, the great job, the involvement in the charitable work,
the adopted children, even the life of self-sacrifice such as Mother Teresa's,
the soul still cries out for happiness which is ultimately found only in God.
Compared to that happiness, all our happiness is like straw, good as it is.
Mother Teresa, who was wise, knew this and sought all her happiness in God, where she found it.
We, who are often fools, seek ultimate happiness here on earth.
But when what is good becomes the rival of what is best, it becomes an idol - the tent of the wicked.
That is why our life is a long process of dying to ourselves and living to God.
God desires that we have what is best, not that we settle for what is second best.
Today, ask God for what is best and receive it with joy. It's the only way to happiness.

Tired
Dear Lord I want to ask you a question 'bout my life... The struggles and the trials and the pain and all the strife; I just can't see and end you know, heaven seems so far away; Dear Lord would you hurry up and bring the judgement day?
All I want is to go home and see my Saviour there; I know it must seem selfish when lost souls are everywhere. But Lord you know I'm homesick and I'm tired and worn out; This world of sin is so mixed up, Lord, what's it all about?
Did you ever feel this way when you lived as a man?
Did you ever tell the Father you'd had all that you could stand?
Did you ever for a moment wish you weren't so all alone?
Did you ever want to give it up and just go on back home?
I know you know just how I feel and to admit it is no sin; So is the battle ever over and do Christians really win? Is the master of deception ever really bound in h ell? The lies he's told about me are too numerous to tell.
Will anyone ever like me or even think that I'm ok? Enemies are everywhere there's a new one every day. How can I go on like this and hold my head up high? Lord you surely don't expect me to go on and try.
Dear Jesus, did you ever find it difficult to pray?
Or did you ever scowl at the dawn of a new day?
Or did you resent the fact that you hung upon a tree, And died the death of a criminal to save someone like me?
Dear Lord help me remember when things get really tough, And all I think or pray about is that I've had enough; Please remind me that you were shamed but didn't hang your head; And please remind me that it was also for your enemies you bled.
Dear Jesus please remind me in your gentle loving way That you never once complained about the price you had to pay. And please keep my heart in tune to all you want to do In the lives of my enemies who need to know you too.

Lord, Be Merciful to Your People
"The mills of God grind slowly" we say. But we live in a culture which demands instant results. We also say that "Time is money" and are impatient with all delay. We have no time to stand and stare. We have lost contact with nature and the rhythms of natural life., The parables of Jesus are taken from such a natural world, and the lesson is one concerning patience. In these parables the patience of God is contrasted with the impatience of humans.
PERSONAL PRAYER
Lord, I acknowledge my sinfulness. Be patient with me.
You, Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love when I call on you.
Give ear, Lord, to my prayer; listen to my cry of supplication.
In the day of my trouble I call on you, for you will answer me.
For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.
Teach me to walk in your way, Lord, give me an undivided heart.
Look no longer on my past sins.
You, Lord, are God, merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant.
Give me perseverance to wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
It is for you, Lord, that I wait; it is you, Lord, my God, who will answer. Amen.
