Each time you have a kind thought, say a kind word or do a kind
deed you are living your love. Lord, as I see the world through loving
eyes, I experience heaven on earth.

"'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all
your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first
commandment. And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the
prophets." ~Matthew 22:37-40

We can work at overcoming ourselves, our selfish desires and our
self-centeredness. This can never be fully accomplished. We can
never become entirely unselfish. But we can come to realize that we
are not at the center of the universe and that everything does not
revolve around us at the center. I am only one cell in a vast network
of human cells. I can at least make the effort to conquer the
self-life and seek daily to obtain more and more of this
self-conquest. "The one who overcomes himself is greater than the one
who conquers a city."

I pray that I may strive to overcome my selfishness. I pray that I
may achieve the right perspective of my position in the world.
Peace of Jesus to you all! Hope you all are having a nice peaceful Sunday and having a wonderful, relaxing evening tonight. We are, and after our wonderful Mass with Fr. Matthew, we had a brunch in our porch, I took a nap, and Lori called and came over for supper. She had too much laundry to do for tomorrow (her sheets) that she couldn't stay to play some games, so Linus will after I'm finished here - we'll play some Farkel. Lori said she met some more neighbors and she's always invited to come over there for some drinks etc. when she sees them outside - that's two nice neighbors already for her. What are your blessings? I'm very blessed to have you for friends along with my other friends. That's a wonderful blessing God gave me! Thank you all for your friendship and prayers which are so much appreciated.
Prayer That We May Seek God and Find Him
Lord, teach me to seek you, and reveal yourself to me when I seek you. For I cannot seek you unless you first teach me, nor find you unless you first reveal yourself to me. Let me seek you in longing and long for you in seeking. Let me find you in love, and love you in finding.
St Ambrose of Milan, Bishop, Writer, Doctor
Look Again and Again
You would like to know God?
Look at the crucifix.
You would like to love God?
Look at the crucifix.
You want to be happy with Him forever and forever?
Look at the crucifix.
You wonder what God is and what is He like?
Look at the crucifix.
You wonder what you are and what you are worth?
Look at the crucifix.
You wonder how merciful God is?
Look at the crucifix.
You wonder how much He wants you in heaven?
Look at the crucifix.
You wonder how much He will help you to get there?
Look at the crucifix.
SHAKE OFF THE DEVIL
Tell the devil today he is a liar! He will not take your joy, your peace or disturb your spirit.
Tell the devil he cannot sleep in your bed; there’s not enough cover.
Tell the devil he cannot sit in your chair; you will not give him a cushion of comfort.
Tell the devil he cannot touch your body; it’s covered with the blood.
Tell the devil he cannot audit your finances; you’ve changed accountants.
Tell the devil he cannot enter you home; the lock’s been changed.
Tell the devil to leave your workplace; he’s not on your list of things to do today.
Tell the devil to take his hands off your children; because you’ve had hands laid on them.
Tell the devil you have no time for his nonsense, criticism or fears; you are on a mission, and you walk by faith.
Tell the devil no more tears, heartaches, or headaches; because there’s another, HE, that restoreth your soul.
Tell him...Tell him...Tell him.
Tell the devil today you have a gentle, powerful inner peace within that consumes you and leaves no room for confusion.
Tell the devil today you will respond soothingly to a crying child, a tense spouse, or an impatient friend.
Tell the devil today you will find no fault with a relative, friend or colleague.
Tell the devil to leave your tongue alone; for today you will not talk of anyone before placing God at the beginning of your every thought.
Tell the devils God said, “My people will abide in a peaceful habitation and in quiet resting places.” Isaiah 32:18
Wagging Tongues
A certain priest lay dying from a broken heart. Wagging tongues had ruined his life and work. A person, who had been one of the principal offenders, came to ask his forgiveness. "Father," she said, "I am sorry for my sins of slander against you. Is there anything I can do restore your good name?"
The dying priest pulled out a pillow from under his feeble head and handed it to her, saying: "Go up into the church tower, cut open this pillow case and empty out all the feathers that are inside."
The lady did as she was told. A strong wind blew the feathers in every direction. Then she returned tot he priest. "Now," he said to her, "go out and gather up all those feathers and put them back into the pillow case." "But that's impossible," objected the lady. "The wind has blown them across the whole town."
"That is just how impossible it is for you to get back my good name for me," said the priest.
The Spaniards say: "Whoever gossips to you, will gossip of you."
Italians say: "The tongue has no bones, but it can break your back."
The Chinese say: "God gave a man two ears and only one mouth.
Why don't we listen twice as much as we talk?"
Knowing Christ
Some years ago a famous actor was at a party and was asked by the guests to
do a recitation for them. He asked if there were anything special they
would like to hear, and an old minister asked for psalm 23 - "The Lord is my
Shepherd" psalm. A strange look came over the actor's face. He paused for
a moment and then said, "I'll do it on one condition: that after I have
recited it, you, my friend, will do the same."
"I" said the preacher in surprise. "I am not a professional speaker. But,
if you wish, I shall recite it too."
So the actor recited with all the finesse of his trade and held the audience
spellbound. The old man stood up and recited the psalm with a weak wavering
voice. But when he sat down, there was not a dry eye in the room.
Then the actor rose with his own voice quivering. "Ladies and gentlemen,"
he commented, "I reached your eyes and ears; but he has reached your hearts.
The difference is just this: I know the psalm. But he knows the shepherd."
Closing prayer:
The Fifth Week of Lent
Sunday
My loving Lord,
it's so hard to love the world sometimes
and to love it the way Jesus did seems impossible.
Help me to be inspired by his love and
guided by his example.
Most of all, I want to accept that I can't do it alone,
and that trying is an arrogance of self-centeredness.
I need you, dear God, to give me support in this journey.
Show me how to unlock my heart
so that I am less selfish.
Let me be less fearful of the pain and darkness
that will be transformed by you into Easter joy.
