Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Greetings my friends! Our blessings this morning went well at the fund raisier at the parish we were at for the CD of the Month Kick-off! We got more sales than we expected and that was truly a gift and good that Lori was along to help. We each took an entrance and after the Masses people came up to buy them. Linus have a little talk about it all after Mass and it was in their bulletin to advertise too. The parish we were at is about a half hour from here, and we left here at 7:30 to set up there. All went well. Then another blessing was when Lori invited us for supper again, another great chicken soup she made! A little spicy so she had us use some Greek Yogurt in it if needed. I liked it in it. She said the recipe was on Pintrest but she added alot more veggies, then we played a game of Dominoes and it was a fun evening! Praying for each and every one of you!!

The ordinary things we do each day are often taken for granted

and make us feel unimportant. Lord, help me change my thinking

so that I can happily see that the little things I do are very important

and that I do make a very big difference.

Scripture for the day:

"You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of

joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore." ~Psalm 16:11

Meditation for the day:

Faith is the messenger that bears our prayers to God. Prayer can be

like incense, rising ever higher and higher. The prayer of faith is

the prayer of trust that feels the presence of God which it rises to

meet. It can be sure of some response from God. We can pray a prayer

of thanks to God every day for God's grace, which has kept us on the

right way and allowed us to start living the good life. So we can

pray to God with faith and trust and gratitude.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may feel sure of God's response to my prayers. I pray

that I may be content with whatever form that response takes.

When I say good morning I mean to say:

G-od

O-ffers us His

O-utstanding

D-evotion to

M-ake us

O-bedient &

R-eady for a

N-ew day with Him.

I-nspire others please, and

N-ever forget

G-od loves you!

My Hand In God´s

Each morning when I wake I say,

"I place my hand in God's today;"

I know He'll walk close by my side

My every wandering step to guide.

He leads me with the tenderest care

When paths are dark and I despair---

No need for me to understand

If I but hold fast to His hand.

My hand in His! No surer way

to walk in safety through each day.

By His great bounty I am fed;

Warmed by His love, and comforted.

When at day's end I seek my rest

And realize how much I'm blessed,

My thanks pour out to Him; and then

I place my hand in God's again.

By Florence Scripps Kellogg

Hello! Is there too much noise in your life?

I AM your Lord God speaking!

Would you like me to speak louder?

Is it you who can't hear me already,

in the mere creation that was made by my hands;

Like the sun, which I shine on your face everyday,

or the wind, that blows through your window,

which you don't notice because your always in a hurry?

Can you not hear me in the Mass,

where I offer up myself to you through the Eucharist,

in a homily where my child speaks my words,

in the Bible - where I teach you how to live,

in prayer - where you listen and hear me speak,

or in any act of Love you experience

through another one of my children during a normal day?

I AM with you always, right here,

but unless you have time

and turn down the volume of the stereo of life,

how do you expect to hear me?

The Empty Chair

A man's daughter had asked the parish priest to come and pray with her

father. When the priest arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head

propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside his bed. The priest

assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit.

"I guess you were expecting me," he said.

"No, who are you?" said the father.

The priest told him his name and then remarked, "I see the empty chair; I

figured you knew I was going to show up."

"Oh yeah, the chair," said the bedridden man. "Would you mind closing the

door?"

Puzzled, the priest shut the door.

"I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter," said the man. " But

all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the

pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head.

I abandoned any attempt at prayer, until one day about four years ago my

best friend said to me, `Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter of having a

conversation with Jesus. Here is what I suggest.' Sit down in a chair; place

an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair. It's

not spooky because he promised; `I'll be with you always.' Then just speak

to him in the same way you're doing with me right now."

So I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every

day. I'm careful though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair,

she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm.

The priest was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old man to

continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and

returned to the church. Two nights later the daughter called to tell the

priest that her daddy had died that afternoon.

"Did he die in peace?" he asked.

"Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock, he called me over to his

bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back

from the store an hour later, I found him dead. But there was something

strange about his death. Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over

and rested his head in the chair beside the bed. What do you make of that?"

The priest wiped a tear from his eye and said, "I wish we could all go like

that."

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Many blessings to all here. It has stopped snowing and the temp today is expected to be in the 30's Heat wave!

Gloria, I'm glad you and your family had a good time at the parish. I can't wait to get back to mass. I am blessed with a very kind priest. We call him Father Ed. Each time I go to the office they have donuts, coffee and cookies.

I ordered new glasses that I will hopefully pick up on the 20th. I really need them for my eyes. I hope the vision is better..

I thank Jesus for keeping me safe during this harsh winter. Thank you Jesus.

To all those who post here I ask Jesus to send you many blessings. Have a nice day anf God bless you.

Gloria glad you had a good day with your sales.

Guess what, we are expecting another 1 to 3 inches tonight.

Will it ever end?

Counting my Blessings.

Bobbiesue - I'm so glad you have Father Ed there! What a blessing! Not everywhere do they serve coffee, donuts and cookies! Wow!! We have this on Sunday mornings after the 10:30 Mass for fellowship. Soon you'll be able to get out and get to Mass again - warmer weather is coming.

Harlene - Another six inches of snow today we got!!! Everyone was out snowblowing their driveways and sidewalks again! Warmer weather is forecasted now. The good news is that the snow will have to come to an end!!! Spring wants to come!
