Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Most often a gentle approach is the best resolution to a conflict.
Lord, I have been given today to improve myself and make life
better for others. Help me walk in the way that You lead me.

Scripture for the day:

"For we are God's servants, working together; you are God's field,
God's building." ~1 Corinthians 3:9

Meditation for the day:

We are God's servants. We can serve God cheerfully and readily.
Nobody likes a servant who avoids extra work, who complains about
being called from one task to do one less enjoyable. A master would
feel that he was being ill served by such a servant. But is that not
how we so often serve God? We can view our day's work in this light.
We can try to do our day's work the way we believe God wants us to do
it, never shirking any responsibility and often going out of our way
to be of service.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be a good servant. I pray that I may be willing to
go out of my way to be of service.

Hello my friends! Today he worked - and Lori invited us for supper after we
went to Mass at the Cathedral, we are really missing our Parish for Masses!
He's scheduled for all the Sundays in June. Maybe he can get rid of some.
Our priests are leaving, we want to be at our parish. I called my friend of
many years, Father Al, he used to be my Spiritual Director before he had a
fall and hurt his back and kept getting worse, and now he's in a Nursing
home, just thought I'd call to chat with him, had a very nice visit, I'll
call again. I told him of the new priest we will be having and he knows him
well and said he's one of the best so we should be good to him! That's
great to hear. I also called Angie today, her kitty is still in the
hospital, had or has a stone, had to have anesthesia, and he's being checked
carefully and tomorrow she picks him up - Poor Kitty! Had a nice visit with
her.
Getting back to Lori - she is so busy with her landscaping more and more and
it sure looks nice. She loves it!

BUCKING THE WIND
By Marion Smith
October 9, 2009

Psalm 9:10 God does not forsake those who seek Him.

The wind had recently shifted its direction and was now blowing from
the East, blasting its fury to anyone who bucked it. I held my cap
onto my head as I walked with a brisk step when the wind was at my
back. My pace was lively and I felt invigorated with the brisk breeze
pushing me from behind. Everything changed, however, when I turned
around to walk home. Facing the wind was not easy- each step became
labored as I pushed ahead- forcing one foot ahead of the other to
reach my destination.

I noticed that the birds, also, were experiencing the same
predicament. As they flew with the wind, they seemed to soar easily
and speedily with no effort. Any birds flying the opposite direction-
facing the wind - had a more difficult flight. Their little wings
worked furiously as they made a major effort to travel a short
distance.

It was nice when the wind was behind me- almost carrying me along on
my walk. I also like it when my life is moving along smoothly, and I
have the winds of life almost carrying me - unruffled sailing all the
way! Life isn’t always so easy, though. There are many times when
existence is hard to face. Trials, disappointments and life’s hard
knocks can make me feel like I am bucking the wind. The road of life
seems arduous, and I have to push one foot in front of the other to
continue along this path.

I know Jesus is on the walk of life with me, and because of Him I will
reach my destination surrounded by His precious love. During calm or
turbulent times He is there- for He promised never to leave or forsake
me.(Psalm 9:10) I am so thankful for that.

Meet God in the morning

I met God in the morning
when my day was at its best
His Presence was like sunshine
like a glory in my breast.

All day long He sailed beside me,
all day long He stayed with me,
And we sailed thru gentle waters
over a very troubled sea.

Other ships were torn and battered,
Other ships where so distressed
But the winds that seemed to guide them
Brought to me a peace and rest.

When I think of other mornings
with a keen remorse of mind
when I too had loosed the moorings
with His Presence left behind.

Now I think I know the secret
learnt thru many a troubled way.
You must meet God in the morning
if you want Him thru the day...

~ THE POWER OF HABIT ~

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do you might as well turn over to
me,
And I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done,
And after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great individuals
And, alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great I have made great
Those who are failures I have made failures.
I am not a machine,
Though I work with all the precision of a machine
Plus the intelligence of a human being.
You may run me for profit or run me for ruin;
It makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me,
And I will put the world at your feet
Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am habit!

Listen to God

The story starts out where she, Beth, is sitting at an airport terminal,
waiting
to board a plane. She was sitting there with several other people who were
also waiting, whom she did not know. As she waited, she pulled out her Bible
and started reading. All of a sudden she felt as if the people sitting there
around her, were looking at her. She looked up, but realized that they were
looking just over her head, in the direction right behind her. She turned
around
to see what everyone was looking at, and when she did, she saw a stewardess
pushing a wheelchair, with the ugliest old man sitting in it, that she had
ever
seen before. She said he had this long white hair that was all tangled and
such a
mess. His face was really, really wrinkled, and he didn't look friendly at
all. She
said she didn't know why, but she felt drawn to the man, and thought at
first
that God wanted her to witness to him. In her mind she said she was
thinking,
"Oh, God, please, not now, not here." No matter what she did, she couldn't
get
the man off of her mind, and all of a sudden she knew what God wanted her to
do. She was supposed to brush this old man's hair. She went and knelt down
in front of the old man, and said "Sir may I have the honor of brushing your
hair for you?" He said "What?" She thought, "Oh great, he's hard of
hearing."
Again, a little louder, she said, "Sir, may I have the honor of brushing
your hair
for you?" He answered, "If you are going to talk to me, you are going to
have
to speak up, I am practically deaf." So this time, she was almost yelling,
"Sir
may I please have the honor of brushing your hair for you?" Everyone was
watching to see what his response would be. The old man just looked at her
confused, and said "Well, I guess if you really want to." She said, "I don't
even have a brush, but I thought I would ask anyway." He said, "look in the
bag hanging on the back of my chair, there is a brush in there." So she got
the
brush out and started brushing his hair. (She has a little girl with long
hair, so
she has had lots of practice getting tangles out, and knew how to be gentle
with him.) She worked for a long time, until every last tangle was out. Just
as she was finishing up, she heard the old man crying, and she went and put
her hands on his knees, kneeling in front of him again looking directly into
his
eyes, and said "Sir, do you know Jesus?" He answered, "Yes, of course I
know Jesus. You see, my bride told me she couldn't marry me unless I knew
Jesus, so I learned all about Jesus, and asked Him to come into my heart
many
years ago, before I married my bride." He continued, "You know, I am on my
way home to go and see my bride. I have been in the hospital for a long
time,
and had to have a special surgery in this town far from my home. My bride
couldn't come with me, because she is so frail herself." He said, "I was so
worried about how terrible my hair looked, and I didn't want her to see me
looking so awful, but I couldn't brush my hair, all by myself." Tears were
rolling down his cheeks, as he thanked Beth for brushing his hair. He
thanked
her over and over again. She was crying, people all around witnessing this
were crying, and as they were all boarding the plane, the stewardess, who
was also crying, stopped her, and asked, "Why did you do that?" And right
there was the opportunity, the door that had been opened to share with
someone else, the love of God.

We don't always understand God's ways, but be ready, He may use us to meet
the need of someone else, like He met the need of this old man, and in that
moment, also calling out to a lost soul who needed to know about His love.

Prayer To The Blessed Trinity
The Father is my hope.
The Son is my refuge.
The Holy Spirit is my protector.
Glory to the holy and undivided Trinity, now and forever.
Let us Praise the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit;
let us bless and exalt God above all forever!
Almighty and everlasting God,
to whom we owe the grace of professing the true faith,
grant that while acknowledging the glory of the eternal Trinity
and adoring its unity,
we may through Your majestic power
be confirmed in this faith and defended against all adversities;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever.
Amen.

Blessings for your Monday and may you have a good day all day! God bless
you!
