Hello my friends!! My blessings today are in first order - Mass - the Eucharist, and then Lori joined us for lunch, and then we went to Sprint - she got her upgrade and I got her old phone - my first smart phone!! Wow! I didn't have to pay anything for it! It's going to be $20.00 a month more now, but oh! so worth it!! She's been teaching me things, and I caught on! I think I already love it!! I have yet to find Among Friends on it. Can you get this forum on the smart phone? I saw categories but couldn't find the Among Friends one. Another great blessing was that I just got a text from Darla saying they are almost home!!! He works tomorrow and she starts teaching a summer class for six weeks. We are planning on going to Texas for Christmas - already concerned about the winter weather! God will provide, right?
Through the power of God within me, I am stronger than any of my

Meditation for the day:
I know that the vision and power which I can receive from God are
limitless as far as spiritual things are concerned. But in temporal
and material things, I must submit to limitations. I know that I cannot
see the road ahead. I can go just one step at a time, because I do not
have a longer view. I am sometimes in uncharted waters, limited by
my temporal and spatial life, but unlimited in my spiritual life.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that, in spite of my material limitations, I may follow God's
way. I pray that I may learn that trying to do God's will is perfect
freedom.
A Prayer for Today
O Savior Jesus, as Zechariah, the father of Saint John the Baptist, was
ministering in the temple, an angel brought him news that his elderly wife
Elizabeth would bear a child and that this boy would be filled with the Holy
Spirit. But Zechariah doubted, and because of this was struck dumb until
John's birth. I ask Saint John to pray for me when I doubt, that my own
hesitancy to believe in You will be converted into strong faith and true
conviction. Help me to learn from Your promises that I can always trust in
You. Lord Jesus, I do believe; help my unbelief. Saint John the Baptist,
pray for me. Amen.
Like an Only Child
A woman who was dying of AIDS summoned a Christian friend to comfort her,
but it seemed hopeless.
“I'm lost,” she said. “I've ruined my life and every life around me. I'm
headed for H ell. There's no hope for me.”
Her friend saw a framed picture of a pretty girl on the dresser. “Who is
that?” he asked.
The woman brightened. “She's my daughter, the one beautiful thing in my
life.”
“Would you help her if she was in trouble, no matter how many mistakes she'd
made? Would you forgive her if she asked you to? Would you still love her,
no matter what?”
“Of course I would!” the woman exclaimed. “Why would you even ask a question
like that?”
“Because I want you to understand,” explained her friend, “that God has a
picture of you on His dresser, too.”
GOD ANSWERS PRAYER
I know not by what methods rare,
But this I know - God answers prayer,
I know not when He sends the word
That tells us fervent prayer is heard.

Do Not...
Do not... undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is
because we are different that each of us is special.
Do not... set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know
what is best for you.
Do not... take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them
as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
Do not... let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor
for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days
of your life.
Do not... give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really
over until the moment you stop trying. It is a fragile thread that binds us
to each other.
Do not... be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we
learn how to be brave.
Do not... shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find. The
quickest way to receive love is to give love; The fastest way to lose love
is to hold it too tightly.
Do not... dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope;
To be without hope is to be without purpose.
Do not... run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have
been, but also where you are going.

St. Maria Goretti - Her Feast Day today
Compassionate Savior, Saint Maria Goretti was a young girl when a farmhand
tried to rape her. As she warned him that he was sinning, he stabbed her
repeatedly. Before she died, she forgave him. Later, while in jail for his
crime, the perpetrator had a vision in which Maria led him to conversion.
She is the patron saint of teen girls, rape victims, and chastity. I ask her
to pray for the teenagers I know, that they save it for marriage, and for
those who have been sexually abused, that they find the strength and faith
to forgive their attackers. Lord Jesus, heal their wounds. Saint Maria
Goretti, pray for us. Amen.
The Lonely Ember
A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending services
regularly, stopped going.
After a few weeks, the pastor decided to visit him. It was a chilly
evening. The pastor found the man at home alone, sitting before a
blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his pastor's visit, the man
welcomed him, led him to a big chair near the fireplace and waited. The
pastor made himself comfortable but said nothing. In the grave silence,
he contemplated the play of the flames around the burning logs.
After some minutes, the pastor took the fire tongs, carefully picked up
a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all
alone. Then he sat back in his chair, still silent. The host watched
all this in quiet fascination.
As the one lone ember's flame diminished, there was a momentary glow
and then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and "dead as a
doornail."
Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting.
Just before the pastor was ready to leave, he picked up the cold, dead
ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began
to glow once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around
it.
As the pastor reached the door to leave, his host said, "Thank you so
much for your visit and especially for the fiery sermon. I shall be back
in church next Sunday."
