Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! Hope your day went well - and is still going well. Today my husband's brothers finished the Arbor Linus started when he got hurt from the saw. Now it's outside looking beautiful. Needs staining yet, he'll spray paint that on - it matches our fence now. Then we'll have our clematis climbing around it! Big blessing getting that finished and out of the garage!! Today is May 1st - cold and rain sometimes, we haven't had sun all week but on the positive side, we know it won't stay away!! Sun will come and warm Minnesota! That we know. Today is also the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. Everyday we have a Feast Day of one or more of the Saints that are canonized. Soon we'll have a special day for Pope Paul II and Pope John twenty-third. May is also the Month for Mary, our Blessed Mother. Let us ask her intercession for your needs. Remember the Memorare?

Making decisions is not difficult if we know our values. Lord, bless me

with the ability to know myself and the strength of good conscience.

Scripture for the day:

"Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes

refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge." ~Psalm 57:1

Meditation for the day:

God can irradiate our lives with the warmth of God's spirit. We can open up

like a flower to this divine irradiation. We can loosen our hold on the

earth, its cares and its worries. We can unclasp our hold on material

things, relax our grip, and the tide of peace and serenity can flow in. We

can relinquish every material thing and receive it back again from God.

We need not hold on to the earth's treasures so firmly that our hands are

too occupied to clasp God's hand as God holds it out to us in love.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be open to receive God's blessing. I pray that I may be

willing to relinquish my hold on material things and receive them back from

God.

IMPOSSIBLE

By Sally I. Kennedy

“For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37

Kids were climbing all over the large half-grapefruit. Others were

swarming onto the waffles with butter and sticky syrup. Starfruit,

kiwi, and orange slices garnished the ‘plate’.

A bunch of children climbing on fruit and waffles. Impossible.

Impossible! Unless, of course, it is a play area with equipment

created to look edible.

It’s true that ‘nothing is as it seems’, and ‘there’s always a bigger

picture’. Recently I’ve heard many stories from and about persons who

are in ‘impossible’ situations, all different kinds.

If you happen to fall into that category today, or you know someone

who does, it’s good to remember the Hope of a great God-promise,

that’s given twice in the book of Luke. The Message says, "No chance

at all," Jesus said, "if you think you can pull it off by yourself.

Every chance in the world if you trust God to do it." (Luke 18:27)

No matter what things look like, you and God are an overwhelming

majority. And nothing is impossible with God.

That is good news.

Searching for God

O Lord my God,

Teach my heart this day where and how to see you,

Where and how to find you.

You have made me and remade me,

And you have bestowed on me

All the good things I possess,

And still I do not know you.

I have not yet done that

For which I was made.

Teach me to seek you,

For I cannot seek you

Unless you teach me,

Or find you

Unless you show yourself to me.

Let me seek you in my desire,

Let me desire you in my seeking.

Let me find you by loving you,

Let me love you when I find you.

Saint Anselm

By Your Holy Cross

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By your holy cross, O Lord,
you have saved the universe
which has wandered from your love,
lost in darkness; now returned,
redeemed by your loving death upon the cross.
We adore your cross.
Cross of love and cross of life,
key of Heaven, path to light,
which leads to you, Lord,
leading to your Heavn'ly home.
May we follow you and worship you, O Lord,
you have saved us by your cross.
The Heart of a Child
Matthew 18:4 "I tell you the truth, unless you change
and become like little children, you will never enter
the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles
himself like one of these children is the greatest in the
kingdom of heaven."
When we are children there's a part of us
that is open to love, and faith and trust.
Through a little child's laughter and teary eyes
we grow older and that part of us dies.
Innocence lost, is so hard to regain.
We get forgiven but hold on to the pain.
But Jesus said to the crowd roaring wild;
"Come to me with the heart of a child."
It's so hard to open ourselves up to others,
we're afraid to trust our own sisters and brothers.
But there is a love so costly and dear,
a love strong enough to cast out fear.
Let's take off our masks and drop the facade
and live like the children of the Living God.
Take a chance, you may be betrayed if you risk it all
but He'll be there to catch you when you slip and fall.
There's a holy laughter, and tears so pure,
there's an innocence that will always endure.
There's a dream and vision, an endless sea,
the tingling of life in a heart set free.
Nothing to prove, no possessions to hold
but a joy and peace more precious than gold.
It's a beautiful place, fiery and wild
when we return to the heart of the child.
Remember that our Father to whom we pray
considers us His children each day
and like little children we must learn to rely
on the love of our Father who reigns on high.
So much prejudice to forget and unlearn,
it's the heart of the child for which we yearn.
We can't enter heaven with a heart defiled,
it must change through Jesus to the heart of the child.
The Kindness Pledge
I Resolve to:
1. Speak kindly of someone at least once a day.
2. Think kindly about someone at least once a day.
3. Act kindly toward someone as least once a day.
4. Avoid speaking unkindly to anyone.
5. Avoid acting unkindly toward anyone.
Prayer to Honor the Name of Mary
O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to thank the Holy Trinity for
having created you so beautiful and full of grace. I want to honor your
Immaculate Conception, your Divine Maternity, and your glorious Assumption.
O Mary, each time I say your Name, I want to unite myself with you in
co-offering all the Masses which are being celebrated throughout the world,
in order to offer to Jesus through your Immaculate Heart my actions, my
prayers, my joys and my troubles each and every moment of my life.
O Mary, each time I say your Name, I want to confide to you those whom I
love and those to whom I wish to do good, especially: . . .
I wish to receive from Jesus through you all the graces of which I am in
need: spiritual graces and temporal favors, especially: . . .
O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to remind thee that I am thy child
and that thou art my Mother. Help me as thou didst help Jesus. Protect me as
thou didst protect Jesus.
When I call thee, Mary, remember me!
It would be most efficacious to recite this prayer at the beginning of each
day, preferably before our daily Rosary or before any chaplet. The name of
Mary is mentioned no less than 106 times in the Rosary and at least once in
most chaplets.
Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday
Good Morning Gloriajean and all dear ladies who post here!
Busy weekend with grandson coming over so I need to head out soon to market to get his favorites.
Gloriajean: We used to have processions in school in May - 4 high school girls would be chosen to wear a crown of flowers and carry the large statue of Mary. Then we would have our own little ceremony in class to crown our little statue with flowers. And somebody would always bring lilacs in for a vase during the month. The classroom would smell like lilac - it was nice.
{{{shorelady}}} Thinking of you and your DH.
{{{Felicia}}} Hoping your spirits are higher and that you are doing ok.
Have a beautiful Friday everyone - keep the faith. You are loved.
Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday
Metro State University's dean offered Darla the job, but for 25K less than what she's worth, she said she's going to try to negotiate - and asks for prayers!! Said with any luck she'll be coming home soon!!! Thanks for your prayers already, and continued prayers!!! Wow! Let's hope they'll come up with a fair wage for her.
