Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Making decisions is not difficult if we know our values. Lord, bless me with the ability to know myself and the strength of good conscience.

Scripture for the Day
"Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge." — Psalm 57:1

Meditation for the Day
God can irradiate our lives with the warmth of God's spirit. We can open up like a flower to this divine irradiation. We can loosen our hold on the earth, its cares and its worries. We can unclasp our hold on material things, relax our grip, and the tide of peace and serenity can flow in. We can relinquish every material thing and receive it back again from God. We need not hold on to the earth's treasures so firmly that our hands are too occupied to clasp God's hand as God holds it out to us in love.

Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may be open to receive God's blessing. I pray that I may be willing to relinquish my hold on material things and receive them back from God.

Peace of Jesus to you all! Hope you all are having a great day today! We just had our supper out in the porch, it's so nice out there now, finally! We had Jessie, Lori's realtor, over this morning for him to look at the house and we had a nice visit. He was very impressed with our house. He suggests, and so do the girls, that we don't rent, but buy a house again, with smaller payments. That way we'll have equity again, and so we'll think about this for now. And those condos and apts. you buy the units are hard to sell, rather than houses.
We trust this guy as we were with him with all of Lori's looking at houses last year. Got my hair cut this afternoon - Georgia comes to the house - cut and styling and washing etc. $10.00 - and I gave her a couple dollars tip. Next time in a month it's time for the color again. I can afford the 15 for color rather than the 45 at the salon, anyway it used to be 45 maybe it's more now. Georgia is a blessing to me! Now Linus is happy - he has four days off in a row like last week. His feet love that! Our weather is so beautiful out now - and the porch is fine in short sleeves. It's nice to sit on my swing again and watch the birds - and meditate - so nice and peaceful.
Still praying for a miracle, but God's will be done! That's all I want is to be in His Holy Will.

He´s Waiting for You!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Ex 32:7-14 / Jn 5:31-47

There’s a fair amount of gentle jesting among older people about their “senior moments” when memory temporarily fails them. But if truth were told, it isn’t only our senior citizens who have problems with remembering; it’s all of us. And it’s not just a matter of forgetting where we put the car keys or what time we’re due at the dentist. We forget the big stuff, like what our lives are supposed to be about, what matters and what doesn’t.

We get a good look at that very thing in today’s reading from the book of Exodus. Moses had been away communing with God for only a few days, when the Israelites got restless, forgot all the Lord had done for them across many years, liberating them from Egypt and guiding them through the desert ever since. They forgot it all and instead crafted for themselves a golden calf to worship. Talk about “losing it”!

Moses was astonished at their foolishness and their affront to God, but he knew something about God that they ought to have known but didn’t. He knew that God loved them and loves every one of us, not just on our good days, but on our bad days as well. And unlike us, God never forgets his loves.

Trust that, and when, inevitably, you make mistakes, don’t be afraid to turn to him. He’s waiting for you as he waited for them.

Short Meditations
God´s Great Mercy

The only way to break through lifelong patterns of unforgiveness is
to take time—daily for a while—and reflect on all God has forgiven you.

— from To Be Like Jesus

Word Became Flesh

Two thousand years ago the invisible love that is God became visible by vesting himself with the flesh of a virgin and dying on a cross for the incredible reason that he loves each and every one of us.

— from John Paul II and the New Evangelization

Look at the Crucifix

If you would like to know God ... Look at the crucifix.

If you would like to love God ... Look at the crucifix.

If you want to serve God ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder what you are worth ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how much God loves you ... Look at the crucifix.

If you want to know the need for self-denial and sacrifice ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how much you should forgive others ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how much you should do for others ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how much your faith demands ... of you in humility, poverty, charity in every virtue ... Look at the crucifix.

If you want to know what unselfishness and generosity are ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how far your own unselfishness should go to bring others to Christ ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wish to live well ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wish to die well ... Look at the crucifix.

When was the last time you really thought about how much suffering Jesus went through for you?
Next time you think your pain and suffering is too much to bear ...
Look at the crucifix and say: JESUS UNDERSTANDS!

THE MENDER

My Savior specializes in mending broken things,
He takes the heart that's shattered, and gives it songs to sing.
He pieces it together with His sweet gracious touch;
He mends the heart that's broken because He loves so much.
He mends the broken spirit, then lifts that spirit up,
The broken lives He reshapes... those lives so wrecked by sin,
When in their crushed condition they turn in faith to Him.
The broken dreams that crumble to ashes at our feet,
That seemed so fair and lovely, that made life taste more sweet.
Those broken dreams He rebuilds and fashions them anew. ..
Then gives us faith to trust Him to see new dreams come true.
What of the broken plans then? The broken health that comes?
Is He not ever mindful when life's swift pendulum
Dashes to scattered pieces the plans that we have made?
Above it all, He whispers- "I shall come to your aid."
He restores broken spirits, binds broken hearts, and dreams,
Repairs the shattered pages of lives that He redeems.
He stands ready to help us no matter what life brings
Because He specializes in mending broken things!

Parent's Creed

If a child lives with criticism,
They learn to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
They learn to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
They learn to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
They learn to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
They learn to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
They learn confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
They learn to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
They learn justice.
If a child lives with security,
They learn to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
They learn to like themselves.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
They learn to Find Love in the World.

IF YOU STAND VERY STILL
If you stand very still
in the heart of the woods,
You will hear many wonderful things
The snap of a twig
and the wind in the trees
And the whirl of invisible wings

If you stand very still
in the turmoil of life
And wait for the voice from within
You will be led down the quiet ways
of wisdom and peace...
In a world of chaos and din.

If you stand very still
And hold to your faith
You will get all the help that you ask

You will draw from the silence
the things that you need -
Hope and courage and strength for your task.
