Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Sometimes the biggest blessing of the day is that which didn't happen.

Lord, thank You for my ordinary day, a day in which my loved ones

have remained safe and healthy.

Scripture for the day:

"Jesus straightened up and said to the woman caught in adultery, 'Woman,

where are they? Has no one condemned you?' She said, 'No one, sir.' And

Jesus said, 'Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not

sin again.'" ~John 8:10-11

Meditation for the day:

I can start a new life each day. I can put away the old mistakes and start

anew each day. God always offers me a fresh start. I need not be burdened

or anxious. If God's forgiveness were only for the righteous and those who

had not sinned, where would be its need? I believe that God forgives us all

our sins. We can honestly try to live today the way God wants us to live.

God forgives us much and we can be very grateful.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that my life may not be spoiled by worry and fear and selfishness. I

pray that I may have a glad, thankful and humble heart.

Hello my friends! I seem to be better today - a cough set in, not bad yet, I hope it won't get bad - but one thing I'm a bit scared of, stool is really dark, I hope I don't have any bleeding going on. Please pray tomorrow everything will be back to normal. Going to visit our former neighbors tomorrow - at 4 - at their new lake home - really looking forward to seeing their new house they built. Today I rested, and it seems it helped a lot. In spite of this scare, which may be nothing, lots and lots of blessings come my way every day! Our ordinary ones are great, resting is a blessing, and feeling better than yesterday is a big blessing. Praying for all your needs and thanks for your prayers for me. I count on them!

Dear Lord, Please give me...

A few friends who understand me and yet remain my friends.

A work to do which has real value, without which the world would feel the poorer...

A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed.

An understanding heart...

A sense of humor.

Time for quiet, silent meditation.

A feeling of the presence of God.

And the patience to wait for the coming of these things, with the wisdom to know them when they come.

Amen.

(W. R. Hunt)

Lord Sometimes...

...You allow Breakage's,

so You can Rebuild;

...You allow Wounds,

so You can Heal;

...You allow me to Walk in Darkness,

so that I see Your Light;

...You allow me to be Perplexed,

so I seek Your Truth;

...You allow me to be Empty,

so You can Fill Me;

...You allow me to be Lonely,

so I can see what a Friend - You are;

...You allow me to Learn hard Things,

so I can be a gentle Teacher;

...You allow me to be void of Feelings,

so I learn to walk by Faith;

...You take away my future Plans,

to Teach me to Live one Day at a Time;

...You allow me to suffer Pain,

so I may be Sympathetic to the Hurts of Others;

...You allow me to see the Futility of Life,

so I will see Everything is Loss,

Compared to the Excellency of Knowing Your Son, Jesus.

Words of Mother Teresa:

There are thousands-millions-of people who die for lack of bread.

There are thousands-millions-of human beings who grow weak for lack of a

little love because they would like to be recognized, even if just a little.

Jesus becomes weak and dies in them.

+++

Once more, today and yesterday, Jesus comes to his own and his own refuse to

welcome him (John 1:11).

He comes in the broken bodies of the poor.

He also comes in the rich who are drowning in the loneliness of their own

riches. He also comes in their lonely hearts, when there is no one to offer

them love.

What we say does nor matter, only what God says to souls through us.

+++

Good works are links that form a chain of love.

All sicknesses have cures. The only one that cannot be cured is the sickness

of feeling unloved.

I invite all those who appreciate our work to look around them and be

willing to love those who have no love and to offer them their services.

Are we not, by definition, messengers of love?

Love is the product of every season.

+++

God pays attention to our love.

Not one of us is indispensable. God has the means to do all things and to do

away with the work of the most capable human being.

We can work until we drop. We can work excessively. If what we do is not

connected to love, however, our work is useless in God's eyes.

I Was There

I was there

When Jesus died,

I drove in the nails,

I pierced his side.

For me he suffered

And had to die,

Yet, he calls me

The apple of his eye.

I felt his love

As he died my death,

For I was in Christ

When he drew his last breath.

I am the sinner

And I am the saved

For Jesus paid

For the way I behaved.

He died for me

So I can live,

Born again,

With his love to give.

My life is in Christ

And he is in me,

I praise you Lord Jesus

For setting me free.

DEVELOP THE RIGHT SELF ATTITUDE

Here are 10 suggestions to help you develop and maintain a healthy

self-image. Read them slowly. Meditate on them regularly.

1. Hate your sin, but never hate yourself.

2. Be quick to repent.

3. When God gives you light, walk in it.

4. Stop saying negative things about yourself. God loves you and

it's wrong to hate what He loves. He has great plans for you, so

you're in conflict with Him when you speak negatively concerning your

future.

5. Never be afraid to admit that you've made a mistake and don't

always assume that when things go wrong, it must be 'my fault'.

6. Don't meditate excessively on what you've done, right or wrong;

both of these activities keep your mind on you! Center your thoughts

on Christ.

7. Take good care of yourself physically. Make the best of what God

gave you to work with, but don't be obsessed with your appearance.

8. Never stop learning but don't allow your education to become a

point of pride. God doesn't use you because of what's in your head: He

uses you because of what's in your heart.

9. Realize that your talents are a gift, not something you have

manufactured yourself; never look down on people who can't do what

you do.

10. Don't despise your weaknesses they keep you dependent on God.

Short Prayers for Lent

Heavenly Father, I am called to walk by the light of Christ, your Son, and to trust in his wisdom.

During Lent, I submit my self to him more and more and am striving to believe in him with all my heart.

I enter on this path of repentance so that in dying to self I might rise to new life.

Lord Jesus, you spoke peace to a sinful world and brought mankind the gift of reconciliation by the suffering and death you endured. I love you and joyfully bear the name 'Christian.' Teach me to follow your example. Increase my faith, hope and charity so that I may struggle to turn hatred to love and conflict to peace.

Loving Redeemer through your passion, teach me self-denial, strengthen me against evil and adversity and so make me ready to celebrate your Resurrection.

Healer of body and soul, cure the sickness in my spirit so that I may grow in holiness through your constant care.

Forgive my sins against the unity of your family; make me love as you loved me.

Good Master, make me mindful of the dignity you gave me in Baptism, may I live for you at every moment.

Give me a perfect heart to receive your work, that I may bring forth fruit in patience.

Renew my eagerness to work with you in building a better world, so that my friends may hear your gospel of peace and justice.
