Daily Inspiration, Scripture, Meditation and Prayer
February 11
Closeness with family makes us one in heart and mind. Lord, help me to fill our home with love and make it our safe haven from the troubles of the world.
Scripture for the Day
"As for me, I will look to the LORD, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me." — Micah 7:7
Meditation for the Day
There is almost no work in life as hard as waiting. And yet many times we have to wait. All motion is more easy than calm waiting, and yet sometimes I must wait until I am shown God's will. So many people have marred their work and hindered the growth of their spiritual lives by too much activity. If I wait patiently, preparing myself always, I can be some day at the place where God would have me be. And much toil and activity could not have accomplished the journey so soon.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may wait patiently. I pray that I may trust God and keep preparing myself for a better life.
Hello my friends! First of all - a very Happy Birthday to Becka! May you have a wonderful Birthday all day!! God bless your special day! Today I tried and tried to find my folders, to no avail, so I finally called the technicians that were over before and he came right over and I've got them back! He showed me how he found them. Now I know - I tried not to have to have someone come, but nothing was working and I spent a lot of time on line trying to find the answers - no luck for this little brain!! I told the young man that was over here how lucky he is to have such a computer mind and he said, but I don't know much about cars! So every person has different talents to use for others. This afternoon I was singing and thought that was a blessing that I can sing! I did sleep well though last night even though I got to bed frustrated after trying last night yet for the folders, and nothing helped.
So getting my folders back is such a blessing especially for my list of ten years!! What are your blessings?

It Is Good for Man to Be Alone!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Gen 2:18-25 / Mk 7:24-30
There are times when the world can close in upon us, and we can feel as if we may suffocate from the sheer numbers of voices competing for our attention and demanding our help. It happens to all of us at times, not just to the mothers of pre-school children. We need to be alone, to regroup, to remember who we are and where we’re going and why. If we are not to lose our way and fritter away our lives, we need time out regularly. We need to be quiet and alone, just as Jesus made certain that he was at regular intervals.
But God says very clearly in today’s reading from Genesis that ‘it is not good for man to be alone.’ Isn’t there something of a contradiction there? Only an apparent one, for our times out, our alone times, are in fact directed toward communion, at oneness with God and God’s big family, which is the whole point and purpose of our lives, our very reason for being.
If we want true communion, either with God or with his family, we simply must invest in time alone, away from the madding crowd. Time alone is part of the price we pay for bringing our best selves to God’s big family. It’s not selfishness; it’s just necessary. So take that time out, whether you think you need it or not (!), and learn to listen through the silence. God has some important things to say to you. And the big family needs for you to hear them.
Mother Teresa Said...
With God, nothing is impossible. I perceive the infinite greatness that we can tap into. I see how He can work through us. Because you and I have nothing on our own we need Him.
As the Bible says, God waits and looks.
Will we respond?
PSALM 23 (FOR THE WORKPLACE)
Author Unknown
The Lord is my boss, and I shall not want.
He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me.
He reminds me to pray, before I speak in anger.
He restores my sanity.
He guides my decisions that I might honor Him in all I do.
Even though I face absurd amounts of e-mail, system failures, copier
jams, back-ordered supplies, unrealistic deadlines, staff shortages,
budget cutbacks, red tape, downsizing, gossiping co-workers and
whining customers, I won't give up, for You are with me.
Your presence, peace and power will see me through.
You raise me up, even when the boss fails to promote me.
You claim me as your own, even when the company threatens to let me
go.
Your loyalty and love are better than a bonus check.
Your retirement plan beats any 401K, and when it's all said and done,
I'll be working for you a whole lot longer!
Thanks be to God!
THE HOMELESS MAN
Author Unknown
February 10, 2011
It was a cold winter's day that Sunday. The parking lot to the church
was filling up quickly. I noticed as I got out of my car that fellow
church members were whispering among themselves as they walked to the
church. As I got closer I saw a man leaned up against the wall outside
the church. He was almost laying down as if he was asleep. He had on a
long trench coat that was almost in shreds and a hat topped his head,
pulled down so you could not see his face.
He wore shoes that looked 30 years old, too small for his feet with
holes all over them, his toes stuck out. I assumed this man was
homeless, and asleep, so I walked on by through the doors of the
church. We all fellowshipped for a few minutes, and someone brought up
the man laying outside. People snickered and gossiped but no one
bothered to ask him to come in, including me.
A few moments later church began. We all waited for the Preacher to
take his place and to give us the Word, when the doors to the church
opened. In came the homeless man walking down the aisle with his head
down. People gasped and whispered and made faces. He made his way down
the aisle and up onto the pulpit he took off his hat and coat.
My heart sank.
There stood our preacher...he was the "homeless man." No one said a
word. The preacher took his Bible and laid it on the stand. "Folks, I
don't think I have to tell you what I am preaching about today." Then
he started singing the words to this song. "If I can help somebody as
I pass along. If I can cheer somebody with a word or song. If I can
show somebody that he's traveling wrong. Then my living shall not be
in vain."
"IS YOUR LIVING IN VAIN?"
Closing prayer:
Five Finger Prayer
1. Thumb
Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you.
They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C.S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty".
2. Pointing finger
The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers.
They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.
3. Tallest finger
The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators.
These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.
4. Ring finger
The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain.
They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.
5. Little finger
And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others.
As the Bible says, "the least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinky should remind you to pray for yourself.
By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.
Remember to give thanks in all things and ask forgiveness. And pray to do God's will always!
