Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Today ask God for anything that is in line with His will for you.
Plead with Him and Tell Him your needs and keep praying.

Scripture for the day:

"I can do all things through him who strengthens me." ~Philippians
4:13

Meditation for the day:

We must *be,* before we can *do.*. To accomplish much, we can be much. In
all cases, the doing must be the expression of the being.
It is foolish for us to think that we can accomplish much in personal
relationships without first preparing ourselves by being honest, pure,
unselfish and loving. We can choose the good and keep choosing it, before
we are ready to be used by God to accomplish things that are worthwhile.
When we are ready, then we will be given the opportunities. Quiet times of
communion with God are good preparation for creative action.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may constantly prepare myself for better things to come.
I pray that I may prepare myself well for the opportunities that will come.

Hello my friends! Hope your day went well! Got a call from Darla today
that they arrived home safely - always great to get that call! Praise God -
they didn't hit any bad weather at all!
It's still no snow here in MN and I love it! Still feeling blah with this
cough but hubby is taking care of me and that's good!! He won on an auction
a nice Nativity set - a 9 piece set, I think, but no stable and they are
higher figurines so I don't think they will fit in our old stable, so he'll
make another one that will fit it. It looks very nice and a fraction of
what it would cost in the stores for that size. Another blessing! Got a
Christmas card and form letter - but a very interesting and funny one from a
friend about their family and constant battles with squirrels there!! And in
the card saying that they miss us and we're due for a visit. We WILL make
that happen! Also in the card came a business card with both their cell
phones so I told hubby to save that. I will call her. We've known them for
so many years!!! Wonderful people way back from our Charismatic Prayer Group
in the 70's and 80's.
I was in bed when he brought that to me and it sure lifted my spirits.

Mother Teresa Said...

It is easy to love those who are far away. It isn't always easy to love
those who are right next to us.
It is easier to offer a dish of rice to satisfy the hunger of a poor person,
than to fill up the loneliness and suffering of someone lacking love in our
own family.

WHY I LOVE CHRISTMAS?
By Bo Sanchez

I love Christmas.
I love the Christmas meals.
Not just the food, mind you.
Like a few minutes ago, I just came from my Mom's house for our
Christmas lunch.
My sisters, their husbands, and most of the kids were there—and we
ate and talked the whole time.
We had a seven-hour lunch!
As most of us were trying to be healthy, we didn't have traditional
Christmas dishes like Lechon, Crispy Pata, and Ham. Instead, we had
green leafy salad with yogurt, fish fillet, and vegetarian pasta.
Impressed? Don't be. Being the Sanchez household (where everyone is
sweet), we still had Leche Flan, Apple pie, and two gallons of ice
cream. Haha!
Yes, our food was fantastic. But our Christmas meal wasn't about the
food.
It was about being together.
It was about love, family, relationships, and all that good stuff.
After our lunch and before desert, we snuck into the prayer room, sat
on the floor, and sang a few songs together.
For years, I used to play the guitar for our family Christmas
worship.
But this year, my son Bene did us the favor of strumming the guitar.
And his cousin, Joseph, played a few more Christmas songs for us. I
have officially retired as the main music ministry of the family.
And around me were my young nieces and nephews—all serving God and
all enjoying a deep relationship with God. The feeling was
unbelievable.
Oh, to see the next generation take on the baton and serve the Lord.
What else should I seek for?
Before the altar, each of us took turns thanking God for His
blessings for 2010.
We then prayed for new blessings for 2011.
It was awesome.
After the many Amens, we all marched down and ate our ice cream—and
talked for 3 more hours.
This is what Christmas is all about.
That's why I love Christmas.
I can't wait for the next one.

There´s No Christmas Without Jesus

There's no Christmas without Jesus,
It's to Him our eyes should see.
Not to jolly old Saint Nicholas
Nor a glitt'ring Christmas tree!

Shops in town are decorated
Decked in colors bright and gay
Tinsel lights and shapes created
Merge into one grand display.

"There's no Christmas without buying
Gifts and toys to give," they say.
Oh, that they should be realizing
All these things will fade away!

Santa Claus is just a story
Reindeer never pulled his sleigh.
Why then, does he get the glory
On this sacred, holy day?

But a baby in a manger
Really lived in Israel:
He was born to be our Saviour--
It's His story we must tell!

I will think of Christ this Christmas--
How He left His throne above,
gave up all His heav'nly riches
For to manifest His love!

Take the tinsel and the glitter
and the 'santas' all away
For God's love is far, far greater
Than this man-made grand display!

CHRISTMAS DAY PRAYER

Today, in my own private way, I want to join in the message that the angels
sang: 'Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to people of
goodwill'.

I am happy that you, Christ, were born for me and for all humankind. I´d
like my life to reflect your peace and your goodwill. I´d love to be fully
aware of the meaning of the mystery of your birth on earth.

You are the true light that enlightens all. All that comes into the world
has light through you. Every living thing has life through you, the Light
that shines in the dark, the Light, the powers of darkness cannot overcome.
You came to your people, who did not accept you. But to those who did accept
you, you gave them power to become children of God. I am one of those
children.

I accepted you in baptism. I need your help to remain one of your faithful
followers and to relish all the days of my life the full meaning of this
tremendous phrase: 'The Word became flesh and lived among us'. Amen.

Unfailing Prayer to St. Anthony
O holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for
his creature, made you worthy, while on earth, to possess miraculous powers.
Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those
in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore of you to
obtain for me (request). The answer to my prayer may require a miracle, even
so, your are the Saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose
heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of
the Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms; and the
gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen.

Recipe for a Happy New Year

Take 12 fine, full-grown months; see that these are thoroughly cleansed from
all old memories of bitterness, rancor, hate, and jealousy.

Cut these months into 30 or 31 equal parts. (This batch will keep for one
year. Do not attempt to make more than one batch at a time-many people spoil
the entire lot in this way.)

Prepare one day at a time as follows: Into each day, put 12 parts of faith,
11 of patience, 10 of courage, nine of work (some people omit this
ingredient and spoil the flavor of the rest), eight of hope, seven of
fidelity, six of open-mindedness, five of kindness, four of rest (leaving
this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad-don't do it), three of
prayer, two of meditation, and one of well-selected resolution.

If you have no conscientious scruples, add a teaspoonful of good spirits, a
dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of
good humor.

Pour love liberally into the whole, and mix with vim. Cook thoroughly in a
fervent heat. Garnish with a few smiles and a sprig of joy; then serve with
quietness, unselfishness, and cheerfulness-and a Happy New Year is a
certainty.
