Neglecting our talents and abilities will soon make them disappear.
Lord, help me to put to good use the gifts with which You have blessed me.

"Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes
refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the
destroying storms pass by." ~Psalm 57:1

"My soul is restless until it finds its rest in Thee." A river flows
on, until it loses itself in the sea. Our spirits long for rest in the
Spirit of God. We can yearn to realize a peace, a rest, a satisfaction that
we
have never found in the world or its pursuits. Some of us are not
conscious of our need, and can shut the doors of our spirits against the
Spirit of
God. That makes it difficult for us to find true peace.

I pray that I may feel the divine unrest. I pray that my soul may find
its rest in God.
Hello my friends! How's everyone tonight? Hope your day went well. Mine
was fine - I'm so much better now and thanks for your prayers for my
healing. It sure was cooler here, - in the low 50's! Another frost
tonight. This is soon for frosts which usually are in Oct. or Nov. We should
get Indian Summer soon then. I pray for a nice, mild winter. It's about
time for a mild one - God willing, of course. Made some good chicken veg.
soup today - good weather for that! Maybe chili tomorrow, haven't had that
for awhile. I just made enough soup for supper, so there's no left-overs.
Wishing you all healings who need healings, and lots of blessings to come
your way.

Love Makes It Possible
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows
1 Tim 4:12-16 / Jn 19:25-27 or Lk 2:33-35
One of the most astonishing things one can ever witness is the exchange of
vows between a bride and groom. Before God and the church they speak an
absolute “yes” to each other, for better or worse, for the rest of their
lives, without knowing what the mix of better or worse will be as the
decades pass one after another. Yet they speak their “yes” with glad
hearts. Is it sheer ignorance or inexperience that lets them do that? In
part, it is. But in most cases there’s something more, and that is a
conviction that the one thing that makes life human and worth living is
committed love that doesn’t count the cost. They’re saying, “we’ll take the
risk and pay the price because we want a real life and not just a shadow.”
Nowhere are the consequences of a simple “yes” spoken long ago more visible
than in today’s gospel: Mary who said “yes” to God while still a teenager
now stands in silence at the foot of her son’s cross. And her answer to God
is still “yes”.
Almost all of us have spoken our key “yeses” to God at the time of marriage,
or ordination, or at the birth of children, and at many other times besides.
And now most of us stand somewhere in the middle of living out our “yeses”.
Doing so can at times be painful, distressing, or just simply boring, and
our “yes” can grow faint. That’s when we need to remember why we spoke our
“yes” in the first place: because we loved and we knew that love alone can
bring us life.
Love for Jesus and confidence in God’s love for her kept Mary from despair
and carried her to Easter morning. Easter will come for every one of us if
we let God love us through the darkness.
Mother Teresa Said...
"What am I binding myself to?
What am I giving my vow to God about? --
I bind myself to God with undivided love.
I tell Almighty God, I can love all,
but the only one I will love in particular
is you, only you."
THE PROMISE
There was once a man who lived a pretty normal life. He never thought he was
a bad person, but he wouldn't let anyone run over him either. Then one day
God touched his heart and the man accepted Jesus Christ as his personal
Savior. The man was so overjoyed with his new feeling that he promised the
Lord that he would tell everyone he met about Jesus and lead at least 100
people to this great thing he had found.
But the man soon found that leading people to Christ was not an easy thing
to do. Most of his friends thought he was crazy and soon distanced
themselves from him. The man almost gave up several times, but he would
still tell anyone he could about the Good News and how it had changed his
life and filled him with such peace and happiness.
Then the man died.
The man found himself in a room. All the things that he had done and said in
his lifetime, all the bad things he had done, all the bad thoughts he had
had all came back to him and was flashed before him in a moment of time.
Then he saw a vision of himself, the time he got saved, he saw himself there
on his knees promising God that he would spread the Gospel to at least 100
people.
The man fell to his knees and wept.
Then Jesus stood before the man and told him, "Arise my child, and tell me
why you weep?" The man answered, "Lord, I have committed all these terrible
things in my life, and I have even lied to you." The Lord looked puzzled and
asked the man, "How have you lied to Me?" "I promised you that I would lead
100 people to you Lord, and even though I tried with all my might, I did not
lead one single person to you. I broke my promise to you and lied to you."
Then Jesus smiled at the man and wiped the tears from his eyes, "My child,
you did not break your promise to Me." The man said, "But Lord, I did not
lead one single person to you!" Jesus answered, "My child, do you remember
the time in the restaurant when you sat down to eat, and you prayed,
thanking The Father for your food? Well, there was a lady sitting in that
same restaurant. The lady was sick with sin, and even though I had tried to
reach her several times, she ignored Me. She was thinking of going home and
taking her life, and she was planning to take her children's lives too. But
this lady saw you pray, and it broke her heart. A door opened in that lady's
heart, and she allowed Me to come in.
The lady went home, and instead of ending her life, she accepted Me and
asked Me to take control of her life. This woman found her faith, and she
showed it to every one she knew, including her children, and when they
became ready, they asked Me to take control of their lives. One of the
children grew up to become a powerful evangelist and led many to Me. So My
child, be of good cheer. You kept your promise. Your small but consistent
acts of faith led not 100, but 100,000 to Me."
The man was overjoyed, but still he felt guilt. 'My Lord," he said, "What
about all those other bad things I have done?" Jesus then smiled and said,
"Don't worry about those, I paid the price for you. You see, we both kept
the promises we made."

Everything Is Possible
There will always be the unknown. There will always be the unprovable.
But faith confronts those frontiers with a thrilling leap. Then life becomes
vibrant with adventure!
Faith means you want God and want to want nothing else....In faith
there is movement and development. Each day something is new.
Faith is the first factor in a life devoted to service. Without faith,
nothing
is possible. With it nothing is impossible.
Faith is not an effort, a striving a ceaseless seeking, as so many
earnest souls suppose, but rather a letting go, an abandonment, an
abiding rest in God that nothing, not even the soul's shortcomings,
can disturb. As the beloved of God under the shadow of His wings
and as the apple of God's eye the seeds of great faith live within us.
Faith is like a boomerang; begin using what you have and it comes
back to you in greater measure.
With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things
are possible. Mark 10:27 (NKJV)
Prayer To Our Lady of Sorrows
I compassionate thee, O most sorrowful Mother! Thy heart was pierced with a
sword of grief when Simeon foretold to thee in the Temple the ignominious
death and the desolation of thy divine and most dear Son, which thou west
destined one day to witness. By the great anguish of thy suffering heart, O
gracious Queen of the universe, impress upon my mind, in life and in death,
the sacred Passion of Jesus and shine own sorrows. Amen.
Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori
