It was so heartening, the other day, to see yet another generous private citizen, Dolly Parton, stepping up and pledging $1 million dollars from her own personal funds to the ongoing flood crisis. It's in addition to $1 million from her foundation and businesses. So $2 million in all. And she is determined to find other sources to continue the dollar flow.
A beautiful soul for giving, and sharing hope to those who need it.

She is, indeed, a person who gives from her heart. A beautiful person, inside and out.
(I was just remembering how, when a 2016 wildfire destroyed homes in her native area of the Smokey Mountains, she started the "My People Fund". Displaced families got a $1000-a-month stipend, for six months. She truly puts her money where her mouth is.)

@Oznell- I saw her on TV yesterday in the Walmart parking lot. it is just like her to be so generous. I enjoyed her remake of Jolene - Helene, Helene changing up the words.

Good for her...now waiting for the 'elite' in hollywood to follow suit.

Since we have no way of knowing what the "elite in Hollywood" have or have not done, I see no reason to wait for anything.
Many give without saying a public word.

Dolly Parton is a national treasure.

Gotta love Dolly! I think Walmart gave something big, too....like maybe $10 million....it's great to see folks helping others (and, yes, most are from people we don't know about ).

Yes, Dolly Parton is a giving caring person without a doubt. I know there are many others helping the people suffering from the terrible storm. So many give quietly and without fanfare, many give a few dollars,, many give their time and energy all are heroes. I am grateful there are people like Dolly who give of themselves to help others. Bless them all.

I consider Ms. Parton every bit as "elite" as anyone living in Hollywood. She even has 2 stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A national treasure in my eyes.

What about the wealthy all over the place. There are plenty of them out there. Hope they are helping.
You can bet ya if I was a millionaire I would be helping.
These people lost everything. Some don't have a job to go back to. They are no longer receiving their income to survive.
Thank you Dolly Parton & anyone else out there that is helping.
This is devasting. It will take years to move on.
