My Maltese has always been a picky eater. He's never liked wet dog food. He free feeds, but he chooses to only eat once a day. Or rather will graze on that one bowl over the space of one day. When he is really hungry, he will eat it at one time but never when I put it out for him. He eats Stella and Chewy freeze dried patties crumbled up over Natural Balance Food Roll-Beef chopped up and mixed with Nature Balance Synergy Ultra Dog Dry. He loves raw baby carrots for treats. He comes running if I cut into a watermelon. Who knew? He is very healthy and he has great fresh breath and white teeth. I alternate the flavors to keep him from losing interest. He has never liked dog biscuits. Neither the fancy homemade Doggie Deli kinds or the regular ones.

Good luck with your baby and I hope you hit on something she will love or at least eat regularly.

Dupe! Maybe the upcoming vet visit will shed more light on this vexing situation.

If you want your dog to eat dog food, don't feed him "people" food ever. I'm amazed when I read the procedures people go through to feed their dogs and what they give them. I've rarely in my life been without a dog big and little, and I've never had one that wouldn't eat. Mine get one meal a day evenings, and it's dry kibble. I've been feeding Merrick the past few years. All three of my dogs, 2 collies and an Aussie finish their food in less than 5 minutes. They get occasional raw bones from a butcher shop...big knuckle or leg bones. That's it. Dogs don't need variety or specially cooked foods unless they're sick. They also don't need treats. When I train, I use Cherrios as rewards. The simpler the better. If they don't develop a taste for human food, they're satisfied with dog food and life is happier for everyone.
