I used to use Nextdoor, but it has deteriorated into people complaining about every minor thing that's happening. And if you disagree with someone you're met with name calling.

I've never used Facebook.

I use it. (I'm on FB too.) It's nice for a lot of things - recs and warnings for different businesses for example, lost and found pets, warnings about sketchy people going door to door, crime in the area,  etc., other notifications.  Lot of cr** on there too though.  Like everywhere lol.

Could you use a different email address for a different home?

I thought about the different email thing.  I am on it down south, but it was through an invite.  I guess I need to investigate how to get on without an invite.

I noticed a lot more ads and there have been a few people asking for $$.  I like the crime warnings.

Someone also posted a picture of a big black bear walking across their driveway.  It was captured on their RING.

@de1rdre We have had good luck with physician and dentist recommendations.  It is good to hear real experiences.

Re: DO YOU USE NEXTDOOR?

[ Edited ]

I've been on the Committee for Nextdoor for about 10 or 12 years. When asked, it was a nice site with pertinent information about the City and new developments or changes.
Over the last few years it has evolved into a "lost and found" site for pets; or pictures of pets . . . which I find boring & obnoxious.

I've tried to write a letter terminating my position on the Nextdoor Committee, but no idea who or where to send it locally. Beginning to think I'm stuck with this position until I pass away and they read my obit in the paper! Smiley Frustrated

ETA:  I do put neighbors in touch with plumbers, HVAC, lawn care, new windows & installation, tree trimmers/arborists, repairing sprinkler systems, painters, masonery work, concrete repair or new concrete pouring, roofers, electrician, additions or decks, bath/kitchen remodels, remove popcorn ceilings, drywalling, insulation, woodworking, carpet stretching, new carpeting/laying, tile, tile & wood flooring, etc.
I only recommend contactors and companies I have used for my own home and am able to personnally recommend.

i have and use both facebook and NEXTDOOR.

i have two NEXTDOOR accounts for two different residences in two different states. i have a FACEBOOK account for personal use and for business use.

NEXTDOOR has tons of advertising and tons of whining/shaming, plus lots of lost pets. Lots of people trying to override the "rules" of posting.

FACEBOOK for me is quite different, although there is lots of advertising on there. not as much whining. i find it to be overall more positive than NEXTDOOR.

What does being on the Committee involve?  Are you a moderator?  I would think there would be a link somewhere that you could go to and get off it. Woman Sad

@deeva     Same thing with "my" NEXTDOOR.     People with an "agenda" who bombard you to join "their" organization....

I am an  original homeowner in this neighborhood, and I expect some respect.  AND...there are several neighborhood groups that have sprung up...and I blocked them all.        di

I use both at times. I like FB for keeping in touch with family and old friends. It can be useful for neighborhood associations in my urban neighborhood. Nextdoor is especially useful for finding lost pets, porch pirates, etc.

I had a nice honest neighbor a street over with same # address that recieved my QVC package and posted a question (of course he required proof ) about the misdirected pkg. I messaged him and got my pkg. with thanks to him.
