My goodness this has really gone afield hasn't it? Will add I agree that "rules" are different depending on where you are. However where I live - in Sou Cal - , milk cartons, plastic or paper, and almost anything is recyclable - it is NOT just tin cans. If you still put your milk cartons in your garbage - it is harmful to the soil. If you still put your batteries in your garbage, it is harmful - and the list goes on. Yes, it can drive you insane to recycle properly, but someone has to do it. I, like a lot of people these days, buy very little tin cans but I would think we all understand that tin cans are only a very small part of recycling. I buy my eggs in cartons, guess what - yep, have to recycle those also. The list is extensive and yes I know rules are different in other places. ACtually, however, I am pleased I live where recycling is mandatory. This is a bit on the opposite side of the fence but we also get a yard waste container - they can use much of that for compost - that is helpful also.

Make your own mayo and ketchup or don't use them. No cans, etc. You can reduce your footprint. Do it.

No, actually she is not right. I said nothing about saving the planet.
You are also incorrect that the planet will be here forever. The earth could be hit by a large meteor at any time, it's happened before with smaller meteors. And, at some point the sun will break down and burn out.

You're laughing but that bridge you live under is no protection.

You have to wonder about people who have never heard of the danger of meteors hitting the earth, and have no idea that meteors have already hit the earth. Probably never heard of the danger of comets, either.
